A long beach acting as an extension of the Espadilla Beach closer to the town and Manuel Antonio National Park. The sand and water was perfect. The large rock formations make for great pictures. The waves were great for surfing. Parking is limited, we paid a guy $3 for all day parking.

Get a Playita Infobuliten to work out the tide schedule. Remember, the showers and bathroom at the back of Playita are public.
Enjoy!

The private beach of Playita was just beautiful! A lil castaway hideaway. The tourists don't know about it. You literally almost have paradise to yourself. <3

We heard about a fabulous gay beach but has now been taken over by a huge hotel. There is now an even smaller section, literally a few feet wide left :( that being said, there are beautiful beaches everywhere.

Not many people here at all, black sand is hot.
If you are looking for a quiet deserted beach, this is it.
Bring water, snacks there are no stores, kiosks etc anywhere near it.
Don't drive to end of the road because there is almost no where to get on the beach if you follow GPS directions as there is too much drift wood between road and beach.
Use first parking area or drive a few minutes down and find a spot under the palms.

When you arrive at the public beach in Manuel Antonio you have to walk back towards Quepos; when you arrive at the end you will find a gay friendly beach to hang out and enjoy the day. Although it is marketed as the gay beach -- there is a nice mix of people just looking to get away from the busier end of the beach with all families.

While looking for a restaurant on our shoddy GPS on our costa rican honeymoon, we were taken down the dusty downhill road to this beach by mistake. (Warning: you definitely definitely need a 4WD vehicle to scale the hill). It was sunset so we stayed. One of the best evenings we had; park right on the beach and stroll the super flat beach in both directions. Such a stunner - thank you GPS!

I was told this is where the filmed Jurassic park. Awesome beach. You have to see this place one time while you're here. The water was gorgeous you don't need a flotation device because there is so much salt water you just float.

Awesome beach spot, especially if you'd like to be a bit farther away from the tourist attractions. The jungle really meets the beach over here. I've been to this spot multiple times and always have an excellent experience with the jungle fauna and the ocean waves. -Saw the cutest sloth ever last time I was here and watching my boo catch some sick waves.

Is access to Playitas Beach free? Or do you have to pay the nearby hotel a fee to enter?
Written January 26, 2018
All beaches in Costa Rica are free - public access is a right! If you have to pay it’s a scam!

Any opportunity to practice naturism here or has it been overtaken by textiles like so many other places?

You're right. It's been taken over by millionaires, with its resort. Sad.
