This is a cute little beach- but be warned it is no longer clothing optional. If you want that sort of beach, check out the nearby Playa Macha instead.

Surfed at the north side of the beach. Had a phenomenal time and one heck of a work out. Only second time surfing on open ocean but had great waves, clean water. Plenty of locals to rent boards or get lessons from. Not too crowded and breath taking scenery.

This is one of several beaches in the area, large, uncrowded, great waves, shade from coconut palms with the occasional sloth

Awesome, somewhat secluded beach (I got lost finding it but it was worth the trek). This is the beach for those who wish to avoid the crowds.

I have know this beautiful beach since around 1968 and we called it Playita (not the Playita ).
It has been a nudist beach that I I know but not really a gay beach. But don't be surprised if you encounter a diverse group of people.
Thank you.

Not many people here at all, black sand is hot.
If you are looking for a quiet deserted beach, this is it.
Bring water, snacks there are no stores, kiosks etc anywhere near it.
Don't drive to end of the road because there is almost no where to get on the beach if you follow GPS directions as there is too much drift wood between road and beach.
Use first parking area or drive a few minutes down and find a spot under the palms.

Love this beautiful beach that is less crowded and a bot north of the main beach in Manuel Antonio. A 10 minute walk up the beach or access via four wheel drive vehicle.

Visited this beach thinking it would be nice and somewhat secluded since you have to get to it by crossing a bunch of rocks at middle/low tide at the west end of the main beach. Unfortunately, it has been basically taken over by the hotel/resort built right behind it. Their hotel furniture was all over the beach, and there were more people there than the neighboring area at the main beach. Sad day.

I drove a small vehicle. I do not recommend driving down there unless you drive a 4x4 car. It is true that I saw a gay couple, but I did not see this as a gay spot. The beach is nice but its currents are heavy at times which makes it dangerous to swim. The road is not paved, and it has big potholes, and it is extremely narrow.

When you arrive at the public beach in Manuel Antonio you have to walk back towards Quepos; when you arrive at the end you will find a gay friendly beach to hang out and enjoy the day. Although it is marketed as the gay beach -- there is a nice mix of people just looking to get away from the busier end of the beach with all families.
