Canopy Safari was an excellent experience. We booked through our chef, Rambo, with Canopy Safari. They met us at a major intersection and we followed them in our four wheel drive vehicle to their base site. After completing a safety check with our three and a half year old, they allowed him to join us on the zip lines and he had the time of his life. He's telling everyone who'll listen about how he, "flew through the trees!" After the trip, we enjoyed a delicious traditional lunch at no extra charge. Complimentary beverages were available pre and post trip.

David and Joe were hilarious and helpful, felt like we were always safe and in good hands with them. Carlos took amazing photos and was super funny with his fake animal sounds and great attitude. An overall great experience and truly everyone working there did extraordinarily great work and went above and beyond what we expected. Never once did we feel unsafe and it was always exhilarating without feeling dangerous. It was lots of fun for the teenager, the parents, the young kids, and the grandparents.

My 78 yr old Mother has wanted to Zip Line for awhile so after asking a friend in Costa Rica he recommended Canopy Safari. WHAT A GREAT EXPERERIENCE! Joe and his team were fantastic. They were kind and gave my Mom extra time and attention as she has had both knees replaced one done 3 month before this trip. I couldn't recommend it more. They are kind and sweet people there who joked around took the time to learn our names. There was lunch served with the price of the ticket plus we were picked up for the $85.
I read were someone was upset about being forced to pay cash, that was not what I witnessed. Some paid cash then asked to pay via cc. The cash was returned and the payment was processed via cc.
A great group of people who enjoy what they are doing and want you to have the same enjoyment and fun.

This zip line experience is fine, a little pricey maybe but the guys taking you around are properly safety conscious. The jokes are a tad lame but that is just them just trying to make the trip as entertaining as possible, because once you've zipped from one tree to another you have zipped them all. I think they need to review their photo policy , I was on my own so to pay $15 for a set of photographs was ok'ish, you can't take a camera with you which is sensible because if you drop it you lose it whilst up there, so if you want pics this is the only way. But , if you are a family of four then that's $320 for the four of you to ride and then they are asking for another $60 because the it is $15 / person, that is steep! My photos were ok except I didn't get sent all the ones I saw on the camera and most annoyingly I didn't get sent a "superman" photo, come on guys, if you do that stunt then you want a photo. I emailed back straight away asking for that photo and another one I saw on the camera, no reply, sent another email still no reply. The photographer asked for a good review, three stars is a fair rating in my book.

Loved this adventure on 2/29 as it was my best zipline anywhere including over Maui, Haleakala mountain and world's longest underground MegaCavern in Louieville, Ky! Hubby tried zip for the first time ever & also liked it. 11 lines incl Tarzan swing, an easy rappel, & ends with Superman. I zipped upside down, hands free, helicopter, and we even did one line 2 people connected holding onto each other's rope. Nice ride up into the zip area included educational talks about the land, history, the plants, palm trees and uses. Amazing zip guides: Luis & Heiner... & Carlos took super beautiful photos. They fed us delish chicken casados afterwards as we were all so famished. A Highlight of our CostRica trip!!!!

In 2020 we did the zip-lining package and found it to be one of our most memorable and exhilarating excursions we took during our Costa Rica vacation. The trip itself involves hiking, rappelling, a safari truck ride, ziplining and a satisfying meal. The guides are fantastic - hats off to Alex, Javier & others, who were extremely knowledgeable. They combined professionalism and good-natured humor such that everyone felt safe and had a good time. I highly recommend NOT bringing your camera. The photographer, Carlos, took great photos and you can purchase the entire package afterwards for only $20 per person ($10 for kids). This frees you up not to have to get out your camera/phone during the trip, which would be inconvenient. Our kids (8, 10) had a great time and so did we!

This outfit was very efficient with arranging and pickup. Facility is about 35 minutes from Quepos. Once you arrive, you can use the restroom but they quickly suit you up in your harness and whisk you off to the cables.
You first do a short acclimation ride then you have to hike to the top of the mountain. They provide walking sticks. It’s a fairly steep climb with switchbacks but it’s about a 20-30 minute hike. Once you reach the top you start the series of descending lines fairly fast and long. There are also mingled in with a Tarzan span swing, 2 rappel drops and a suspension bridge. They keep you moving and there isn’t a lot if time spent on the platforms waiting, which really helps if you have some reluctant zip liners.
Once you return back to the base, you have an option to do the Superman swing which they take you on a short van ride and you get a different harness to allow you to suspend horizontally and make 1 final ride to the base.
You then unharness and enjoy a traditional Tican lunch. The vans then transport you back to your resort.
There is photographer who sells separate photo/video packages which are very high quality and worth it.

My family and I spent a week in Costa Rica and this was hands down our favorite adventure! Joe and the dos Diegos were upbeat, charming and respectful of my teenage girls. First we took a bus ride through a river and gorgeous mountain country. We arrived in a super beautiful pavilion where we received a mercifully short safety talk and began the trek uphill through the jungle and through an area of vanilla and herb gardens. Then the fun began as we descended down via zipline and rappelling. There was a moment when one of my daughters was scared and Diego did a masterful job of calming her while not letting her chicken out. Well done Diego! When we returned back to the pavilion we ate one of the most yummy meals that we had in CR. Before we went home we toured a lovely Butterfly Garden and snake and crocodile pen learning a little more about the fauna of CR. I am looking forward to our next trip to CR and will definitely take another Canopy Safari.

We had such a good time at Canopy Safari. I have two teenagers, a tough crowd, and they loved it. I also noticed that the staff was excellent with the smaller kids in our group. My mother decided not to zip line, but instead to take the walking trail and take pictures of us. She also enjoyed her time, taking pictures at the butterfly garden and spotting a colorful frog on her walk.
We all had a meal after our adventures, and honestly it was one of the best we had in Costa Rica. Just really good food, simply prepared.
We had large crowds when we went (back in February, pre-lockdown) but we were split up and everyone moves along pretty quickly. Note that there is a minimum height for the separate “Superman” zip line at the end, and small children who were eligible for the regular tour may not be able to do that particular zip line.

We loved our river rafting trip with Canopy Safaris. The river rafting was plenty fun and exciting without risk of raft flipping over. Halfway through the trip they stop and take you to the most beautiful waterfall that we saw while in CR and provide fruit snacks. There are many companies that do the same tour and we saw them on the river; some of the other companies had huge groups of tourists on buses; what we liked about canopy safaries was that the group was much smaller and more personal. The guides were friendly, interesting, and professional. My kids (ages 19, 16 and 12) all loved it. The views from the river were spectacular. Overall a great experience!

How do you stop yourself when you do the ziplines and rapelling? My husband recently had rotator cuff surgery, so he has limited use of that shoulder. He can move his arm around, but couldn't use it to stop himself at the end of the zipline. We ziplined in a different area of Costa Rica about six years ago and I thought we used our arms at the very end to brake/stop. I could be remembering incorrectly though! He can use his left arm/shoulder just fine. Thank you!

The guides catch you at the end of each line by putting their hands on your hips, your waist or your butt. If you told them about your husband's shoulder I'm sure they'd be extra careful with him. I have terrible arthritis in my right shoulder and none of the lines bothered it one bit. Have fun. I sure did.

exactly how 'in shape' must you be to participate? are there weight restrictions? I am travelling with a diverse group of students and adults
Written April 1, 2020
There is a weight limit, 270 lbs. is what they told me. I am 265, I was right at the max. You have to be safe and honest with yourself. You don't want to do this if you are over the limit. If the equipment fails, it would not be good for you. Please, safety first...

How much time is the actual tour? In other words, are there places to use the "facilities" along the way? Or should we avoid drinking caffeine in the morning lol!
Written February 2, 2020
Count on a couple of hours between the time you "strap in" at the start/finish location and your triumphant return. There are trees on the course, but none that do double duty as comfort stations! The staff people are good about reminding clients to use the baño right up to the last minute. No one in our group of 26 had any obvious difficulties. Enjoy your coffee.

I am nervous about zip lining but after reading all of these reviews, I think I will try it. Do I have to do all of the ziplines. Can I skip some if I am too nervous?
Written January 26, 2020
Yes, you need to complete all of the zip line runs. However, the adventure includes a number of other activities like repelling, a swing, and a bungee/repell. I remember that you could repel instead of swinging but otherwise you need to complete everything if you start.
On another note, I don’t like heights myself but really enjoyed the adventure. Most of the zips you couldn’t see the ground due to the dense jungle foliage which made it easier. Plus, you are with your group the whole time which serves as a great distraction.

Hi, curious to know if you can do BOTH the rafting and the zip lining course in one day???
Written January 8, 2020
This company offers both zip lining and rafting, so contact them to see if they can do it in one day for you. It is more efficient as you save a journey back to the hotel before another company pick you up. Also you might get discount for doing both together, I don't know as I only did the ziplining.

Do you have to do the Superman ? Or is that one optional? Been zip lining in a different area of Costa Rica before but the Superman one at that place I would never do in a million years because of my fear of heights. I did all the other zip lines there though....
Written July 18, 2019
It’s optional :) but it’s so fun!

If one of our party(age 77) of four is terrified of zip lining, can she come to the site, hang out, hike and wait for the others to return?
Written December 31, 2018
Yes, there is a beautiful butterfly garden and a “restaurant” area with picnic tables where your elderly family could wait for you.

Canopy Safari Staff, please share the recipe for the amazing chicken Casado that we had for lunch!
Written August 30, 2018
Per previous replies, there doesn't seem to be. Other zipline limits are 275 pounds with a 49 inch waist. But I have seen various limits....email the vendor.
