We did a one-day hiking tour in Corcovado and it was wonderful. Our guide, Tomas, is incredibly versed regarding wildlife and nature, taught us a lot about the lives of the wild animals there and showed us many different animaly (I particulalry liked how he was able to imitate numerous animal sounds, esp. birds).

The office of Osa Wild was very helpful when booking our tour, particularly since we booked on short-notice, so we could even do a tour on the subsequent day

Fabulous experience in a biodiverse mecca on the Osa Peninsula. Our guide (Marco Umana) is tremendously knowledgable, enthusiastic and photo-savvy. He not only made sure we had great views of all the birds and wildlife, but he helped us obtain decent photos with our iPhones through his telescope. We would highly recommend this trip and especially our guide to anyone with an interest in Costa Rican flora and fauna!

We booked a tour with Osa Wild last month (February 2022) and we only have wonderful comments to say about this company. We paid for a private tour and we were guided by Luis who were extremely knowledgeable. He always had answers to our questions and always made sure we got the most of our experience by showing us the maximum things we could see. We did the Economic Package tour (2 days - 1 night), we started through Los Patos to La Sirena and then the second day we walked from La Sirena to La Leona. All communications with Osa Wild prior to the tour were easy and efficient, the emails were answered quickly. We really had an unforgettable experience and we would definitely recommend Osa Wild to our friends and family!

My friend and I did the Economic Package tour, hiking from La Leona to Sirena on day one and hiking out via Los Patos on day two. Our guide Bolivar was amazing and spotted animals that we could have never found ourselves. We saw a tapir, white faced monkeys, howler monkeys, spider monkeys, squirrel monkeys, a dart poison frog, coatis, two kinds of snakes, toucans, parrots and some other birds. Our night at the ranger station - having dinner with other hikers and waking up to the sounds of the jungle - was also a nice addition to the the experience. I would like to note that the two-day hike is quite intense, so keep in mind it’s not your average walk in the park. Overall, we would highly recommend Osa Wild as they do a great job and support the people of the Osa Peninsula.

Here's my note to Osa Wild...

Dear Iffi and all,

We can’t tell you how much we appreciate the level of service and support you all provided. From the start, you were amazingly responsive, provided detailed responses, gave accurate information and were straightforward about all costs. Arrangements went just as planned and included our special considerations.

Evaristo was the best guide we could have hoped for. He was attentive to our safety, answered every question we threw at him about the plants and animals we saw and found birds, snakes, and other creatures we would have had no chance of seeing. He wasn’t just looking, he was tracking, sniffing, listening. He truly could read the forest. In addition, he was great company with a sense of humor a quick smile and always kept us at ease.

From beginning to end you all provided one of the best travel experiences we’ve ever had. Thanks so much for making our trip so easy and memorable.

My husband and I did the “Sweet Sunrise to Sirena” (boat from Puerto Jimenez and explore Sirena day 1, hike out via La Leona day 2) in early January while on our honeymoon. We were blessed with Ifi as our guide, who has been hiking, exploring, and studying the flora and fauna of Corcovado for 20 years.

Couldn’t have asked for a better guide or a better experience — Ifi was the most knowledgeable guide we had over our 10-day trip. She saw animals we would have *never spotted* (brown owls in a brown tree, tiny hummingbirds sitting still on a tree branch, faraway squirrel monkeys). She wielded the standing scope with expertise, which meant we didn’t have to rely much on our binoculars (we are not that good at using them, and they were lower quality than her scope).

The hike out was long and challenging but epic beautiful - we saw no one else on the trail save for two rangers in the first 4 hours.

We did the tour of 3 days with OSA wild. Even if we think the tour is definitely overpriced the visit satisfied our expectations and what was described in advance by the travel agency Osa Wild. The forest really deserve to be explored at least 2 days and the walking path (20 km) trought la Leona is very nice. Unfortunately we were unable to come back from Los Patos as one of us got sick and we had to take a boat from La Serena to Puerto Jimenez ( paying that extra and not receiving reimbursement for the missing transportation from Los Patos to Puerto Jimenez ). Our guide Luis was fantastic, extraordinary experienced and very kind, definitely he contributed the most to make this experience really worth.

Hola Lorenzo, Thanks for letting us know about your experience in Corcovado. It is very important for you to know that any last minute change in your original itinerary has no refund. We are really happy to know you had a great time with Luis. Pura vida, ifi.

First of all i looked on trip advisor and also saw in my lonely planet book that osa wild was good for organising tours. We booked a night tour because we wanted to see some snakes, after arranging we were then told the day before the tour that it was now going to be in a different location to what was stated and it would be $20 each more per person. We decided not to go on this tour but arrange our own night tour independantly with an excellent guide for half the price and for double the time. 2 hours to look for snakes is no where near enough time.
Secondly we did the carate to la leona corcovado tour which we were told would be us 3 only doing it, but when we arrived at the location in carate there were other vans there and other tour groups. We all walked single file along a path in the corcovado and when someobe spotted something then the others behind wouldn't get to see it, it really was a poor show for $160 each. Our guide was too busy taking selfies and we were showing him things of interest instead of the other way round. It was a long drawn out day where we didn't get to see much and there were too many people chatting and not bothering with seeing any wildlife. We saw more on our own without a guide around puerto jimenez. We felt we were ripped of, it shouldn't of cost anywhere near $160

Hola Andrew, Hope you are doing well and thanks so much for sharing your experience. We are very surprised about your comments since we have great local guides and we do try our best to provide a unique experience. We also have a philosophy to contribute to the local economy through tourism and we will really like to know the name of the guide so we can improve our service and understand what happened. We wished you had come to the office so we could arrange and compensate for our mistakes. Pura vida, ifi.

EXCELLENT Trip! We did the 3 day, 2 night jungle trek into Corcovado and it was truly a trip we will never forget. We originally booked this trip for April when of course, COVID hit and our trip was cancelled a month prior to leaving. We were beyond bummed and luckily we had Paola at Osa Wild to assist us through this cancellation and rebooking. She is fabulous to communicate with, and was so patient with all of our questions and planning and replanning the trip. They also provided luggage storage for us while on the trek.

The actual trek was just unbelievable. Wildlife is so abundant, it makes time fly by because you're always checking out some incredible rare animal crossing your path. We saw 11 different mammals (including a sunrise spotting of a tapir on the beach!) and more birds than I even knew existed. The hike is very long and not for beginners. It is primarily flat though at least, with very little elevation change. The roughest part is definitely "long beach" where you will walk 45 mins in the sand with no shade. The views are just incredible and we rarely ran into another group. The river crossings are exciting but definitely bring double the socks you think you would need. I brought 6 pairs and if I returned again I would bring 9, Yes - 3 pairs a day! Your feet just end up getting so muddy and wet, it's inevitable. Sirena station was somehow more comfortable than I anticipated and the meals are delicious.

Our guide, Donny Nunez was beyond amazing. He was so knowledgeable and beyond excited to be in Corcovado with us. We would specifically request him next time if we were able to come back. He took amazing pictures for us through his spotting scope and has left us with memories to last a lifetime. We genuinely felt sad to leave him at the end of our trip.

I would recommend any wildlife lover to visit Corcovado at least once in your life. OsaWild made the whole trip such a breeze, even with the pandemic thrown in there on top of everything. Highly, highly, recommend!

When they say intense they aren’t kidding, During the rainy season especially, this trip isn’t for the faint of heart. But if you are down to get a little muddy, go exploring for anteaters, tapirs, and all the monkeys, and climb through sea caves, you couldn’t have a better guide than Milton. His passion for the jungle is undeniable, and he was able to answer every question we threw at him over 3 days, he even has his favorite frog tattooed on his leg! Thanks again to Milton and Osa for a unforgettable experience!
