Very modern and pleasant tour with a well educated guide, it was very peaceful and protected. Pointed out to us by a trained guide was an eyelash viper curled up on a leaf 15 feet away from us. This old girl wants to see you it all but not with the danger obviously so close to us – this is the way to go. Great food is here and nice gift shop and very helpful employees.

OUr hotel, the Iguana Lodge, arranged this trip for us. Evidently there is only one pilot who will make the flight into the park from Puerto Jimenez, and his plane is quite small. However the flight was fun and even though the landing and takeoff strip is just a dirt road, the trip was fine. The park is amazing - we saw birds, tapirs, peccaries, monkeys, a sloth, and two vipers. My favorite was when a herd of more than 100 white-lipped peccaries came swarming through the jungle and our guide picked up a stick, told us to follow him, and then led us on a run to a point behind a tree where we had to be really quiet to watch them run by. Bring lots of water, but you will see things at this park you can't really see anywhere else.
