Pablo was an excellent driver and guide on our commute from Manuel Antonio to the airport! He entertained us with local culture and music, and took us to the best stop along the route. !Pura Vida!

One of the best experiences Of the trip. Our guide got us stuff on purpose for the extra fun!!!! He had 14 year experience and made the adventure that much better. Stopped at a waterfall halfwAy to top it off. Class three rapids so a lot of fun and not dangerous at all. Highly recommended!!!

I did two transfers with Pedro, the best driver of Toucan Tours. He was driving efficiently and I felt very safe with him. We talked a lot and had good fun together. I can only recommend Pedro. He knows the best places to take photos and and can tell a lot about the country and the animals. Gracias a ti, Pedro (y a Dios :-)). Christina

My girlfriend and I booked the 2 day hike with one night at the ranger station from toucan tours via their website because it was the only English website that offered services to the Osa Peninsula. I transferred money into Toucan Travel's Bank account which was a little odd but it worked out. Ester coordinated everything and gave us our guide Elias who worked for Jaguar Tours. We began our journey by riding in a mini van with monster tires from Puerto Jimenez to the beginning of the hiking trail of Corcovado national park. The road was not paved so It was a bumpy ride. We also crossed through at least two deep rivers in the van. We made a brief restroom stop about half way through our wild 2 hour ride. At this stop we drank some fresh coffee and bought some tasty empanadas Once we got the the Corcovado National Park we thought we were just going to hike for a few miles and call it a day. To our surprise the hike was 16 miles which included hiking through rivers (one with crocodiles), lush forest, sand, and mud. Given the different terrain, the hike was tiring, but the scenery made us forget how exhausted we were. The scenery was magical and we felt as if we were in a real life Disney movie. The oceans were full of mist and were untouched, waterfalls at every turn and wild life throughout our hike. We saw a wild chicken with a blue egg, scarlet macows, 4 different types of monkeys, an animal that looked like a puma, and a tapere and we even saw a little deer just to name a few. The place was full of life and our guide Elias spotted many animals, plants, and insects that we would have not been able to see on our own, he was like the real life Tarzan. He looked out for safety and made sure we were having a good time. After our long beautiful hike we arrived at the rangers station, the rangers station had very strict envoronmental rules but the beds were comfortable. On day two we were too tired to hike back so we asked if we could go back by boat. Elias and Ester cordinated for us to take a boat near the ranger station to drake bay then transportation from drake bay to Puerto Jiminez. The cost for the boat ride to drake bay and back to Puerto Jiminez was $100 extra but it was worth it because we were just too beat up to hike another 16 miles. Our experience from beginning to end were more than we expected from the walks through the rivers and along the deserted beaches through the lush forest and our encounters with wild animals. Although this was a once in a lifetime hike we plan on coming back!

We decided on Toucan Travel due to James Kaiser's guide book (and website), though i give him no fault, as things will always change with time. Communication (emails, attempted calls) was slow and difficult. While previously (2015?) Toucan had an office and establishment, when we arrived in Puerto Jimenez in May 2018 and asked around, we found nothing and learned the company of 1 worked remotely, had no guides, and always contracted out. Our guide was hired from Jaguar Tours (we have left a review there). While our guide was great, we wonder how much we could have saved if we'd gone straight to the source.
