Corcovado River Kayaking And Mangrove Estuary Bird-watching

1 review
In the last 25 years we had the opportunity to paddle, at the beginning with our self made fiberglass kayaks, along almost all the Rivers, Creeks, Lagoons, Shores and Reefs of the Osa Peninsula.
All this Experience, allow us to create, in the far 1994, the very first Adventure Trek in the Osa, The Corcovado Ring Adventure Trek, that still remain the best of this Kind, where the River, Mangrove and Sea Kayaking were fundamental.
Wild Trails Adventures in the last year we started creating several New and Exclusive Kayak Treks Experiences here around, along Rivers and Lagoons that nobody Ever used for this kind of Activities.
So, if we are Proud to offer this Experience today, is because we know it's worth and that Guests will enjoy it, and make it as a reference for the rest of the Activities they will do during their Trip.

What a great place to visit and as others have said, it is like visiting a family. It was great seeing the variety of plants & learning about how the indigenous people used them. The cost of the tour was $40 per person & well worth it. We loved the samples of fruits & chocolates & we left with cacao seeds, bamboo straws & fans. We were not able to drive that day due to vehicle restrictions so we took a taxi which cost $40 round trip for 4 of us.

This was absolutely among the highlights of our already amazing week in the Osa. Herman met us with a translator, and from the start of the tour, he made us feel like long-lost friends. His well-deserved pride in this farm and his absolute joy in sharing it with us was so infectious. His knowledge of plants that, to our eye, were barely discernible was astounding. It was magical and SO much more than chocolate. Thank you SO much Herman- what a fantastic place!

My family and I went to this tour and it was amazing. I had very low expectations but my wife wanted to go so we did it. $40 seemed too pricey but it wasn't! They were really interactive with the kids, we did everything from holding baby geese and using plants to do war paint on our faces to seeing the chocolate grow and participating in the manufacturing. Hector, the owner even threw some hooks out with bananas on them to fish, and they gobbled them up! The kids all had a chance to reel in some fish. To end we made chocolate, ate chocolate, and even did chocolate masks. It was a must do and we'd do it all again. Side note: we tried to call to make a reservation but no one answered so we just stopped in, I think they do it in the morning and around 2 PM. It's just a big family owned ranch so not very sophisticated, if they don't answer don't worry.

This was such a well spent few hours just outside Puerto Jimenez. We rang a telephone number from trip advisor as the farm was closed when we arrived. But they were happy to open up for a private tour. Just a really sweet (get it) charming family operation and you come away with a real feel good factor (aside from any chocolate consumed). The family raise their own livestock, grow their own vegetables, and cacao for chocolate production. They are also passionate and proud about showing visitors what has been created, sometimes just to preserve ancient trees and woodland. Loved this tour.

This sanctuary is so special and they truly care about helping animals. We loved learning about specific animals as well as the program they use for rehabilitation and release. Our favorite activity was getting to know Sweetie, a young monkey who stays at the reserve and follows the visitors around so they will give her a scratch and a hug. Highly recommend, especially if you have kids who love animals.
