Royer is charming, incredibly knowledgeable and delightful. He brings along a wonderful telescope for you to see animals up closely. He makes sure you have a great time and learn a lot! My husband and I are an older couple with iffy knees. If you are in doubt, I would highly recommend bringing along a collapsible walking stick and really good shoes with solid soles because the hike can be slippery and somewhat strenuous. If you don't find a stick, Royer will make you a good one from a fallen branch.

Perfect Tours and Guides. We did nightwalk and Tour to La Leona. We saw many animals like sloth, monkey and snakes. The guides were perfectly adjucated and explained everything.

Royer was our guide and was absolutely excellent. He grew up on a farm in the area. While his brothers were training to be soccer players he was study English from books and learning about the natural world surrounding him. We did the day trip. It started at Carate airstrip and went through the jungle to the park entrance. Then Royer took us to the Osa Conservation area as a bonus. All together the trip was about 4 hours longer than we were told, which was fine by all of us since we were having such a great time. Some of the highlights include a 2 toed sloth, 3 toed sloth, rock snapper, howler monkey, black hawk, butterflies, capuchin, spider monkeys, cayman, anteater, coati, squirrel monkeys, tucans and much more.

I had an excellent half day hike around Tigre/Dos Brazos, with a special focus on birdwatching. Hannia was my guide, and really made the trip worthwhile and rewarding. She speaks professional English, and knows the birds and where to find them. I'm a pretty experienced birder, but there are many species I would have missed were it not for her ability to locate and point them out. She was personable and shared a lot of natural history information, as well as pleasant conversation. It was the perfect blend of comfortable and relaxed, yet highly focussed. She tailored the trip to my interest in all the birds, as opposed to the standard fare of monkeys and toucans.

Our family had a wonderful birding walk with Royer, of Ficus Tours, at El Tigre. Royer was personable, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, friendly, and he had terrific eyes for wildlife! We saw more than 70 species of birds on our walk with him. (We were there in mid-January.) It was great seeing the birds through his spotting scope, and Royer took a lot of really good photos through it for us. (Using our iPhones.). We saw so many amazing birds, like a gallinule, tiny haw, rare woodpeckers, trogons, toucans, and scarlet macaws, to name a few. Hiking with Royer was one of the highlights of our trip; we could not recommend Ficus Tour, and Royer, more highly.
