If you want to understand the flora and fauna of a cloud forest, visit this place. A guide is a must and I highly recommend "Three Brothers Tours". Mauricio, our guide, shows us bromeliads, epiphytes, hemi epiphytes, resplendant quetzal, avocadoes, sapote and various other features...More

We spent a couple hours here on our first day in Monteverde. The trails were well marked and maintained. We like supporting an educational group rather than a commercial company. The information and guide provided was terrific. We didn't do a guided tour, but listened...More

We spent the whole morning hiking here on our own. We didn’t find Monteverde cloud forest to be too different than other hikes we did in CR, except that everything is covered in moss which looks pretty cool and the weather is much cooler, but...More

Was on a guided tour of this preserve with the Three Brothers. This is a must-see attraction. High up in the Costa Rican mountains, you have these giant trees which support an ecosystem of at least 500 epiphytes and parasitic plants in addition to the...More

Well taken care of. Visitors should really do a night tour too to see snakes, frogs, and other predators. There are tons of hummingbirds during the days. Did not see monkeys, hit or miss.

My girlfriend and I spent two days here with a birding book and a pair of binoculars. It was rainy out both days, but we still saw tons of birds! I hope that everyone who visits is as lucky as we were with sightings. The...More

Went on the nature hike with a guide through the reserve. Overall it was a nice little hike. The pathways were not difficult and easy for all ages. Our guide pointed out various plants and explained ecosystems. We were only able to see 2 birds...More

Temperature felt in high 60s but quite humid. I would pack a rain jacket and a long sleeve shirt but it’s not too bad.

I'm really scared of heights and I managed. There are holes, so it's see through. It doesn't move, unless others are on there moving. It's easily possible to avoid going over it, if you so choose.
