Daniel and his team of guides elevated this experience to the top! We had the best time Ziplining through such a beautiful setting and got to experience long lines, short steep lines and repelling. I'd highly recommend this company to anyone looking for a quality adventure without breaking the bank

This was highly recommended to us. It met our expectations three fold. You drive to the
top of a mountain with spectacular views of Costa Rica. Then take a 45 minute horseback ride to the beginning of the zipline tour. Then you zipline through the rain forest over rivers and waterfalls on a series of 25 different ziplines. You are then bussed back to the lodge/restaurant where a wonderful lunch is prepared for you. All of the staff were very attentive and friendly. We also highly recommend this adventure.

We docked in Puntarenas on a cruise and we are SO GLAD that we ziplined with this company!
I did a lot of cost comparisons before booking and these guys are by far the best around! Here's why:
1 - WAY more ziplines than other companies! They have over 20 ziplines, a suspension bridge, and 2 rappels.
2 - For all of this stuff you pay the same price as you do at other companies that only have 10 ziplines.
3 - Included in our tour was horseback riding as well which was fun :-)
4 - The guides are great, speak English well, and (as long as it's safe) will even take your picture - unlike other companies that charge you like $25 per person for a CD of pictures of yourself.
5 - We also got a -delicious- lunch when we were though.
Obviously we really liked this company and I think really anyone would - we didn't experience anything we didn't like and I truly feel like we found the best deal around:-)

The 11-waterfalls canopy zip line tour was AMAZING! The views were spectacular and the waterfalls were amazing, especially with how they were incorporated into the tour itself. It's not just passing by and catching a blur of a little trickling stream or anything. These are big, powerful, breath-taking sights and our guides were excellent at helping us enjoy them all. We even got to break half-way through the tour to go swimming at the bottom of one of them. It was a wonderfully refreshing stop during our adventure.

The staff in the office was also extremely knowledgeable and friendly. They even helped us obtain transportation from our rental house to their location and back again (about an hour and a half one-way) for an extremely reasonable price. The food following the tour was better than we expected considering our other experiences with the "Tico" plate, very delicious.

Bottom-line, we took extra brochures to leave with our friends in Costa Rica and at the house we were renting because we had such a great time. We also have other family visiting Costa Rica soon and have told them their trip won't be complete without this tour. If you're considering a zip line tour, this one should be at the top of the list.

We recently were at Adventure Park and Hotel Golfo in mid-June. We arrived at the hotel the evening before and were met by Katherine and Martin the manager. We checked in with no problems and wandered around the premises in the rain. Being a horse owner I found myself drawn to the small unkept stalls across from the office area. Upon further inspection I found a mare with a colt or filly unsure it was in a dark corner. The mare was very skinny with her hip bones jutting out and all of her ribs exposed. Her skin was in horrible shape from rainrot and bugs. I tried talking to one of the employees near the barn who told me those were not the horses we would be riding they would be bringing them up in the morning from a local farm. There was a gelding in there as well that was also in very sad shape. I was very concerned about the wellness of their horses at that point.
The next day we had a very nice breakfast before our adventure began. When we went to do the horseback riding the horses had all been saddled before we came out from breakfast. A horse was selected for each of the riders. As we started to head out of the corral area the mare I was riding was the first horse out behind the leader. As we made our way up the first incline she slowly started dropping back. As we made our way up the long concrete driveway leading into the parking area she was having trouble with her balance and would stagger sideways abit to catch herself and then try to continue on. By the time we made it up the first hill a little over a hundred yards she was in the back of the pack with the guide trying to smack her forward. I told him to not smack her that she was having great difficulty in making her way up the hill. It was all she could do to get up where we were at that time. I told them she was not rideable due to her lack of strength. Please keep in mind I am speaking english to a very spanish speaking group of several men at this time. I was told by Fefor that he would take me back down since I refused to make the mare continue on. I told him it was unsafe with the way she was staggering at times. I then proceeded to dismount from the horse and was met with angry shouts. Apparently you are not allowed to get off of a horse unassisted. I told him if the horse was unsafe to ride up the hill it was also unsafe to ride down the hill. I then set off on foot to the parking area down by the office. Upon arriving there I was met by Martin and Barbara the owner. I tried explaining to them that I owned horses and competed in the USA in a sport called Endurance. That I knew when a horse was in trouble and that horse was in distress going up the hill. Barbara informed me she was a horse trainer and the horse was not sick it was all my problem not her horse. She then went on to say that the horse was a mare and that is normal for them. I was shocked by what she was saying to me horse trainer or not she is very uneducated on maintaining the proper weight of a horse. Anyone can claim to be an horse trainer but that does not make them one. We argued over the fact the mare was in such sad shape and I was happy my getting off of her would allow her to have the day off. My sister had offered me her horse but I told her I could not particapte in something so cruel to the horses. I then joined my brother and nephew for the ride in the truck up to the top of the ziplining area. We passed the horses along the way and I was so glad I got off of the horse since there was no way she could have carried me that far. My other family members told me several horses struggled to get up to the top of the mountain.
We then went ziplining and had a great time. Martin the manager was the one who helped me get my gear on and he apologized for what had happened before. The guides did a great job making sure everyone had a great time.
Upon arriving back at the office my family enjoyed a nice meal. I declined to eat since I just had very bad feelings about the place. Before I left I spoke to Martin about the horse's condition again. He let me know he did not know much about what a horse should look like and had asked the farmers why they were so skinny and they told him the horses were just fine. I told him to go on the internet and look at horses then put in malnourished horses and he would see the horses that they use. He said he would try to educate himself on the subject. He probably won't but it sounded good. I told him if there were any organizations in Costa Rica that monitored animal cruelty I would be notifiying them.
I took a picture of a horse before I left that was standing by the stalls. I realized it had been ridden up the hill by one of the guides which was verified by my family who rode and by a picture I took before the ride began. With the saddle on most people who are not horse savy do not realize they are sitting right on the horses spine causing it problems. This horse had very distinct marking on his face. There were white stripes very distinct (usually caused by leaving a very tight halter on too long} running just under the halter. If you look in the picture you will see the horse saddled ready to go.. Please look at the picture without the saddle and realize this is animal cruelty. Please do not support these people until they decide to take care of the horses... Please...

The ziplining is fantastic but it is unsafe to ride horses up a mountain in the condition they are in. Please look at the picture where the saddle is off of the horse and see what the saddle is hiding. No one would knowingly get on a horse that is that thin if they were aware of its problems before hand. If a horse actually goes down while your riding it you have a good chance of getting hurt especially with the rocky terrain.

We are very upset at the incorrect information that this person has stated about our horses. Therefore, here is the truth. First of all, let us assure you that our horses are loved, well-fed and well taken care of. At no time would we ever permit a sick horse to be ridden or to go on tours. With that said, here are the facts. Our working horses live naturally on our over 32 hectares (more than 81 acres) of land. That exceeds the one hectare per horse recommendation. They do not live in a barn. The only horses that are kept in the barn are our personal horses—Mona and her five-month-old baby Champagne, and my private riding horse Mi Sueño. These special horses do not have rainrot or bugs or diseases of any kind. They are regularly groomed and maintained in excellent condition. In fact, almost daily a client will ask to ride Mi Sueño because she is such a beautiful and strong mare. Yes, they are kept in the dark at night. Although we do have electric lighting for emergency conditions, we find that these horses rest better at night without lights—as do most animals. Most of our horses are Costa Rican Creole (Criollo), Paso Fino, and a mixture of the two breeds. Per our vet, the normal weight for this type of horse around 400-500 Kg . That is what our horses weigh. Our horses are trim but sturdy as is normal for the breeds we own. Even though, we never overload them. We set a rule so as to not burden our horses with too much rider weight. In keeping with that, we do not permit anyone weighing more than 100 Kg (220 lbs) to ride. If our guests are unsure of their weight, we even keep a scale in our office for verification. None of our horses ever struggle to get to the canopy starting site or on any horseback tour we offer. Our horses are not malnourished. Perhaps this person was comparing our horses to breeds in the US such as American Quarter Horses that are much bigger and can weigh as much as almost 600 Kg (over 1300 lbs). You would never expect to see ribs showing on that breed. On our breeds though, some ribs showing are not uncommon. And our horses are perfect for the type of terrain and weather that we have in Costa Rica. We take very good and loving care of our horses. During our vet’s monthly visit, we are always told that all of our working horses are in great shape and have no problems. The woman rode Bandido. He is a wonderful 12-year-old gelding that has been on our property and cared for since birth. We know this horse! When the rider came back shouting loudly at us that Bandido had a problem and therefore refused to ride him, we immediately examined him. We checked out his legs and his back with pressure—no problems. We checked his gums, and they were not pale. We checked his eyes, and they were clear and bright. He held his head high—not down. This horse was not in trouble. We get compliments about Bandido regularly. As is part of the nature of all our horses, Bandido is a very friendly. He will often turn his head to look at the rider and their shoes in the stirrups as though to make sure the rider is okay. Maybe the woman misunderstood this to mean he was unbalanced. None of our horses have ever had balance issues. Let us talk about Terry, the gray horse in her picture. We rescued this horse from an abusive owner. He came to us with that mark on his face and very scrawny-looking. If we had not taken him, he would have been slaughtered. He looks so much better now than when we adopted him and have been nursing him back to health. He was NOT ridden on the tour that day—not even by our expert guides. Yes, he did have a saddle on him in the corral. We do that sometimes to make Terry feel that he is part of the crew and has a job. In reality, he is retired and does not work. We treat him with loving care and will continue to do that for the rest of his days. We felt very hurt by the woman who only addressed us in an inappropriate unfriendly manner and never gave us an opportunity to explain anything, such as in the case of Terry or our other horses. The above are indisputable facts. Our thousands of satisfied customers cannot be wrong. Respectfully, Barbara and Dietmar Maier, owners Adventure Park and Hotel Vista Golfol

As my very 1st zip lining experience, Adventure Park was great and I felt very safe throughout the 25 zip lines.

■ I was part of a large tour group off a cruise ship and most of us signed up for the Canopy Tour of 25 zip lines over 11 waterfalls. Thanks to Sandy for recommending and organizing this exciting tour for us.

■ After a quick briefing, signing some forms, and getting us into our own individual safety harnesses in the main office, we boarded a white shuttle that took us on a rough and bumpy 20 minutes ride from the main office up to the 1st zip line.

■ Once at the start of the 1st zip line, we were briefed again and given our safety helmets. Everyone was individually checked and adjusted by the crew. And away we went!

■ The 25 zip lines varied in distance - some short but the more fun ones were the longer ones that allowed you to glide over the jungle. The height off the ground also varied - some not too high or scary while some were more vertigo-inducing but none that I was too afraid to do. Having said that, once you start going down the zip lines, there is no going back. Well... I guess there is but it's a long, hard climb back up to the 1st zip line or a much longer, harder climb down to the last zip line end point.

■ At the end of the 25th zip line, the shuttle was waiting for us to take us back to the main office for our lunch. After the lunch and some time to relax, we were finally taken back to the port and our cruise ship.

PROs:

■ As someone who has never zip lined and is a little afraid of heights, I was quite apprehensive and nervous. But the safety measures and professionalism of the crew who looked after us made me feel very safe and secure.

■ It wasn't all zip lines - there was a plank bridge that you had to walk across and over a small river - see my photos. There were also some rappelling down off the side - this was more challenging for some folks.

■ The 25 zip lines were manageable for most folks - even adventurous seniors. The crew took good care of everyone and safety was always their top concern.

■ The crew provided free bottles of water if you needed them and with the heat, it was very much appreciated.

■ With the discounted group rate and considering the length of the tour and an included nice lunch, I felt we had our money's worth. Definitely 1 of the more enjoyable and fun excursions from our cruise.

CONs:

■ Some of the 25 zip lines were quite short. I wish they had more of the longer zip lines so that we could glide across the jungle for a longer time.

■ If possible, I would recommend going in a smaller group of people. There were about 20 of us and it took a while to get everyone through all those zip lines. Hence, we spent more time waiting around for everyone to get through than actual zip lining.

■ You don't always zip line from 1 point to the next. At times, we had to walk down a short narrow path to the next zip line. Just be careful on some of the paths and watch where you're going.

■ Adjust your expectations about the 11 waterfalls as most of them were small waterfalls with not that much water flowing through when we were there.

■ 25 zip lines - that's a LOT! Towards the end of it, I was tired and ready to call it a day - a very FUN day!

TIPs:

■ Wear some sun block as you're not always in the jungle shade. And wear some bug repellent too.

■ Wear comfortable light clothes and sensible shoes that have a good grip.

■ You can wear a small backpack on you but in general, don't bring too much stuff with you. If you do, you can always leave the stuff you don't need in the main office.

■ Don't wear big hats - a baseball cap is fine if it can fit under the safety helmet that they provide.

■ There is a small river pool that you can take a dip in after a few zip lines. Just know that the water is refreshing and cold - bring a towel and a swim suit if you are going to take a quick dip in the river pool.

■ Bring an energy or nutrition bar for when you feel tired or hungry.

In summary, I had a great time zip lining with Adventure Park and I'm now ready and excited to do more zip lines. I'm hooked! (Get the pun?)

P.S.: If you found this review useful, give it a thumbs up! Thanks.

Dear Client. We hope you are well. First of all we have to say thank you very much for all those comments, as every recommendation or suggestion, always helps us to be better in what we do, but also to change or improve the details that have to be improve. Two of our main concerns are: Fun in a safety environment, and also to protect the nature in all possible ways. Reason why from 1 up to 20 people as you group was, we try to go over our tour with the maximum fun as possible, but taking care of all details. As you mentioned in your comment, that had never done a zip line before, our tour in comparison with other tours, was built to be accessible for all people, children and seniors. In difference with other tours, ours is totally eco-friendly, reason why we do not have any Iron Platforms, (when you build your own towers, have the chance to place really long or fast lines) but in our tour, we want the people to see the magic of nature as you go inside the forest all time, following a river down the mountains, with the lush and beauty only mother´s nature can give us. Regarding to your recommendation about smaller groups, we know that just with five people in the group is faster, but your group was coming from a Cruise Ship, which only stays for few hours in Port, so we did not have the possibility to split the group. In another words, we wanted to give you and your friends the possibility to join this tour. A very important point is that your excursion, was at the very end of a really long dry season, and the pictures talk by themselves, as it is something that was affecting not only Costa Rica, world´s weather is changing, and this area was really affected. Right now the rainy season started and the waterfalls are totally normal. Once again we would like to say thank you for taking your time to review our tour and also to offer all those comments and suggestions. We hope that could see you again in the future. Kind regards Adventure Park & Hotel Vista Golfo

My new husband and I just returned from our 12 day honeymoon in Costa Rica. We wanted to pack in as much adventure as possible so we spent a lot of time researching adventure companies online. We came across Vista Golfo Adventure Park on tripadvisor and he fell in love with the idea of zip lines over waterfalls, something we didn't find anywhere else. When we brought it up to the travel agent, he informed us that Vista Golfo caters to cruise ships so it's very crowded and not the authentic Costa Rican experience we were looking for. He also said the drive was too far out of our way (we rented a car for the trip and were traveling from Tamarindo to Monte Verde). However, after reading the reviews on tripadvisor we decided to go for it anyway. When we told the travel agent of this decision, he admitted he had never actually been there and asked us to report back and let him know how it was!

Were there cruise ship customers there? Yes, there were, but we made reservations in advance and it was no more or less crowded than any other excursion company we visited. We had a great time talking to other travelers and hearing of their experiences regardless of how they got there.

Was it a long drive? I guess that depends on how you define "long drive". We made it from the Tamarindo area in under 2 hours, which was much less time than we expected. We saw some beautiful scenery along the way and quite enjoyed the trip. The very last part of the drive is a little scary, up a mountain on a dirt road, but if you drive around Costa Rica for very long you realize a lot of the roads are like that. Look at it as an adventure!

Was it worth it? Absolutely. Before our trip was over we did zip lines at Adventure Golfo, in Monte Verde, and in Arenal. It would be impossible for me to say that one was better than the others because they were all very different. What AG offers that no one else has it the waterfalls. You're actually in the forest instead of above it and it's beautiful. Also, because you're not above the canopy it doesn't feel like you are as high as the zip lines in other areas. You probably won't notice this if heights don't bother you but it's a bonus if heights make you nervous. I also felt like I experienced the forest more this way, instead of looking down on a canopy of green. We saw giant butterflies, very interesting lizards, and heard monkeys howling. There is a break along the way where you can swim in a pool at the bottom of a waterfall. We took the "4x4 car" to the starting point and that was an adventure in itself! The ride is quite bumpy but fun and again, beautiful. And, on top of all of that, the view from the lodge is breathtaking and the lunch provided is really good! We saw howler monkeys in the trees while we were eating lunch, another added bonus.

So, overall, I would definitely recommend Adventure Golfo to anyone looking for, well, and adventure! We're definitely glad we made the trip!

We went here with a group from a business conference we went on. In total there were 52 of us that chose this. It is more than they typically take on one of these (usually around 15 to 20) so it took us a little longer to descend but it didn't matter because it was so much fun. The crew were very entertaining, safety oriented, knowledgable about many different things (I don't think anyone stumped them). The gear is top notch (no wear and tear look to them), I found that at least 2 guys checked you over to make sure your geared properly. They make sure everyone is safe and accounted for at all times (which is very difficult with 52 people). At no time did you feel unsafe. In fact they have companies come to them to be trained in safety with zip lining! Half way through we stopped at one of the waterfalls to take a dip (Chilly) and they bring a big bottle of spring water with cups for everyone. It was a nice length of time (not too short and not too long). we had a meal after and it was delicious. And since it is at the end of the dry season there were no bugs! We would definitely do this again! Enjoy the view and the ride to get there :)

This is the second time we have been to Costa Rica to zip line during a cruise stop and this excursion FAR exceeded our previous experience. We did the Canopy tour over 11 waterfalls. I lost count, but there must have been over 20 platforms. It was fantastic! They picked us up from the pier, took us to their hotel location where we took care of paperwork then you had a choice to either ride horses or 4 wheel drive vehicles to the start of the zipline. We chose to ride in the vehicles. There we were suited with helmets, gloves and ziplining equipment. My suggestion is to wear exercise or yoga type clothing, because the harnesses are snug and it is uncomfortable in jeans or thick shorts/pants. Also, if it rains, exercise wear dries out quickly. This was an incredible day. We had a ton of fun and our entire group (of 11) LOVED it. There was another family with our group who had a child and grandparents. One of the workers would zip with the child. I am amazed that the grandparents did this excursion. There is much hill walking and steps between the platforms. You do use your arms By pulling down on the line with your gloved hand to "break" at the end of each "zip" as you approach the landing platform each time. Also there is a rappel down one of the waterfalls. It took us 3 hours to go thru all the zip lines then we returned to the hotel area and had a Costa Rican lunch which was included. They transported us back to the port and the driver even stopped at a store (Costa Rican Walmart) on the way home so we could buy some Costa Rican coffee at better than tourist area prices. They stayed on schedule and there was no problem or rush getting back to the ship in plenty of time.

I just got back from Costa Rica. The main reason I went was to try Zip Lining. I reviewed before I went zip lining and Adventure Park is what I picked. We had so much fun. The whole day was worth the trip to Costa Rica. We started with horse back riding, than we got to the top and zip lined 25 awesome zip lines. Over rainforest, waterfalls, trees. So exciting & worth every minute. I loved it and I am ready to go back. Next time stay at the hotel for a day at Hotel Vista Golfo. Most other parks only have 12 zip lines & not over waterfalls. That is why I chose this place. The staff were so helpful and amazing to be on the tour with. Also we loved zip lining with other people and getting excited just being in the moment. Lunch was tasty and the whole day made Costa Rica perfect. Dimas dimasa@racsa.co.cr our driver tour guide booked are zip line adventure and also drove us around to explore other areas the other days.
