A clear request was made by our Air BNB. Manager (I know because I was standing there when they recommended Unique Tours and phoned the organization) that they knew the very person to bring us through Manuel Antonio Park. Well, we pay US $220 upfront, drive up to Quepos and find a delightful man/tour guide sitting in front of the Best Western Hotel, which was the designated spot. No signage but we figure out he is our guide. He goes on to explain that Manuel Antonio is crowded and ticket lines are way too long. He has a much better tour. Instead, we, four of us who are over 35--meaning in our 60's, need I say more, are asked if we are in relatively good shape. Not knowing what we don't know, we assure him that we are as we just finished the Nauyaca Falls journey (which was great by the way). He proceeds to take us on a 2.5 mile super challenging jaunt. We actually had mini-rapelling situations, a couple incredibly narrow and harrowing spots, and to say the least it took nearly 4.5 hours. Allow me to add that the last 300 meters were completed in direct 90+ degree sun with each of us hopping from one Oasis of shade to the next--mind you, the shady spots were few and far between. Thank goodness it was a one way trip to Ronny's Place, another wonderful place to be reviewed later. The problem? We learned later from various sources that Manuel Antonio would have suited us fine and that this specific hike was considered a special challenge. So, if you are in lesser shape, don't like heights, not sure how to you rappel like ropes, and are not looking for the ultimate challenge--then don't go with these folks. By the way, the guide was a decent fellow, not sure why his brother, who runs the business end would send him on this exposition. The manager was kind enough to refund half our money himself as he and his Costa Rican assistant both couldn't understand the source of the miscommunication, considering the details were spoken and written, via email, in both English and Spanish. If you go with these people, pay when you meet them should there be a switch in expectation.

This company is fantastic and receives an A++! Their communication is prompt and customer centered. We started our Unique Tours with a kayak tour through the mangroves with Kanutto and his two assistants. We were greeted so warmly and treated so well. The tour was amazing and the highlights were the giant Iguana and white faced monkeys. Kanutto was interesting, funny and the nicest person. We were excited because he was coming to our villa that evening to give us a cooking class. The cooking class was beyond our expectations. Kanutto and his assistant, Charlene, arrived loaded with groceries. We had picked the menu beforehand and knew what we were going to prepare. Our meal consisted of mahi mahi cerviche with plantains, red snapper fish tacos, cheese empanadas and plantains and ice cream dessert. Kanutto gave us a lot of information about the process of cooking each dish and we were welcome to help prepare. All of the dishes were amazing! We especially liked the fish tacos served with slaw and ranch dressing. The freshness of the fish was apparent and so delectable. Needless to say we were stuffed!! Kanutto left all the extra food and supplies with us and we enjoyed it again the next day for breakfast and lunch. Having had two great experiences with this company, we booked our tour through Manuel Antonio Park with them. Josue picked us up bright and early as well as two other parties-8 adults were on the tour and one child. Having a guide through the park is a must if you really want to see the animals, birds and get great pictures. Josue was marvelous! He was friendly and gave us such great information about the flours and fauna. Looking at the animals through the scope was essential to really seeing them. What impressed me the most was how attentive he was especially to the family with the little one. The father was caring the little boy and the mother was pregnant. He made sure they were with us the entire tour and even carried their bag to lessen their load!! It was very hot so would suggest an early in the day tour. We ended at the beach where we had time to put our feet in the ocean and relax. The monkeys at the beach were having a blast with the items they confiscated from the tourists. Keep your possessions close at hand. We highly recommend using Unique Tour. It will make your Costa Rican trip even more magical!

Harold gave extra effort to show us a good time and the wild life. Both the car ride there and the boat trip were very enjoyable. Good for its price and good times!
