Dante’s water sports was fantastic to work with. They were prompt for pick up, friendly during the drive and very tentative to our needs during the surf lessons. I brought my two six year olds for the first experience surfing and the instructors were great with them. Every person we interacted with through Dante’s was extremely friendly and kind. Never felt rushed and found the experience to be relaxing. My kids even requested to go again while we were still in Manual Antonio. I emailed Dante’s asking about the beach we were previously at and they sent over transportation and arranged more surf time with their instructors for the kids. When in Manual Antonio you contact Dante’s for your water sport activities!

We had an incredible experience with Dante's Water Sports. Their communication and professionalisms was amazing. I was not the easiest client to work with because we were having a hard time committing to an excursion time and then had to totally change which excursion we did the night before. There was a lot of back and forth communication. But, they were so kind to us and understanding during the entire process. The day of the lesson, they were on time, very knowledgable, and fun. Those in our group who participated in the surf lessons loved them. With the guide's instructions, they were all able to get up on the first try. Dante was also so kind to the rest of us who were sitting on the beach watching. He did all he could to make sure we were comfortable and happy and even told me the best moments to snap pictures of my surfers. I would highly recommend Dante's Water Sports for surf lessons. Based on my experience with them, I imagine that all of the excursions would be excellent.

We had a wonderful time learning how to kayak, exploring the mangroves, and learning about the history of the area. He pointed out birds and explained the ecology of the mangrove forests We also went to a secluded waterfall to swim near the mountains, and there were no other people there, which I really enjoyed. They also made sure we had water and cut fresh fruit to snack on. It was really nice doing a trip where we didn't feel rushed at all and could spend as much time swimming as we wanted.

2 of my kids and I had a surf lesson and training in the morning one day and had such a great time! William and Sebastian were great instructors and we were all standing up and riding the waves in no time.

If you’re looking for surf lessons, look no further! I took 5 days of surf lessons and went from never handling a surf board in my life to being able to feel out the waves, and it’s all thanks to these guys! Dante picked me and one other guy up the first day to bring us down to the beach. Alejandro got us familiar with the boards and critiqued our form until he felt comfortable with us getting into the water. He showed us the best and safest ways to handle the board, and was so patient as we learned. We then swam out into the water with the boards with him and he would turn us towards the beach and go “paddle, paddle”, give us a good shove, and say “stand up” and on the second time; I got my balance! If you ask them when you swim back to them after you’ve ridden a wave, they’ll tell you to lean back more or get up faster or stand up straighter. We went in for a water/banana/pineapple break, and then spent some more time in the water. Even though the sea in unpredictable and uncontrollable, I felt really safe and taken care of by Alejandro and all of the guys on the beach each day! The second day Felipe took us in, and he was super gentle and felt like a big brother. The waves were big and strong, and even though it was more difficult than the day before, I still felt safe. The third day we had Sebastián, who is the absolute sweetest person I’ve met in Costa Rica. He was so empathetic and understood exactly when I needed help, when I was too tired to carry the board in, when I got hit really hard by a wave he walked me to get water, he was hyper-aware of how I was doing and feeling, which is a really cool and meaningful trait in a surf instructor. On the fourth day, the waves were crazy, but as a theme here- I felt safe nonetheless:) Sebastián and Milach took three of us out and would switch off pushing us. To be honest, at the beginning of the week, I didn’t know if my one accomplishment would be to stand up once or what, so to catch 7-8 waves on a good day and 4-5 waves on a bad day felt really, really amazing. Milach was super patient as I tried to practice my Spanish with him too! On the last day, the waves were perfect. The sky was clear and the sun was hot, and we caught some really good waves with Felipe and Milach. They really prioritized our having fun, which made the last day the best one, as we were proud of all that we had learned. All in all, this was my first time being a solo female traveler, and I couldn’t have found better people to live life with. They invited me and my fellow Spanish learning students into their community just as if we had been family friends. On one of the first days, Dante said “they work hard and they play hard”. These guys have their dream jobs, and they know it, and they don’t take it for granted. I feel so blessed to have been able to take lessons through them, and I hope you have the opportunity to as well!
