The crew was funny and informative from the second they picked us up to the second we finished lunch. I highly recommend white water rafting with this crew. I felt safe with my girlfriend and sister even when the rapids where class 5! Additionally, the paparazzi took incredible pictures that we will not forget. Lastly, the food was bomb!

We spent the day with this guided river crew and had a great time. We saw some off the beaten path towns we wouldn't have otherwise visited and learned of some of the history of the towns we passed through and areas around the river. We hit some fun little whitewater rapids and enjoyed a hidden waterfall and a mid day snack of fresh pineapple and watermelon. I would recommend the class II & III if you have younger children traveling with you. We had our 10 yo daughter and she had a great time. We always felt safe and would recommend this outfit. They also served us a late lunch back at the office location. That was absolutely amazing! If you can , bring a waterproof camera and a lanyard so you can capture some moments. We purchased the photographers pictures for a hefty penny, but weren't able to capture any ourselves because our phones were in the dry box. Remember to wear plenty of sunscreen!

If you are ready to have some first-class fun and cool off in the fresh Savegre river - look no further! Rain or shine, the nature around you will take your breath away. For the best experience ever, ask for Cristobal. He is not only a knowledgeable tour guide but also a great leader: you will be riding those waves like you have been doing this your entire life!
Biggest tip after having done this several times: make sure you let someone who can count and row in a synchronized manner sit in the front as the whole team will rely on them to set the rhythm.

We do an adventure trip every year. This is by far the best adventure we have ever had. Ramirez drove us 4x4 style while telling us the story of how he and his wife started the tour. Then Maykol hands out high end gear while Franklin ribs out the jokes. You start with the longest and most beautiful zip line run the God could imagine. A few lines later you are rappelling down a very small hill with Ramirez’s nephew Berny who is such a nice guy and makes sure you are comfortable (while probably watching to see if you are a moron). Maykol will meet you at the bottom to send you on a trip into a waterfall with a very short drop into a pool (that you control). Then it is off down a rappelling/zip line like you have never experienced. Danny captures all the moments in high resolution so don’t bring your camera. Then Johnny Depp (forgot his name) sends you on a Tarzan swing and then you eat a snack in the jungle while sipping clean spring water from the mountain. Then it’s back down the mountain with Ramirez telling the best stories to his wife Jenny’s home cooked meal. They do all of this to preserve 40 acres of rainforest. 10 out of 5. These guys are great.

This was by far the BEST part of our trip. It was booked and day one, and NOTHING else we did could top it.

We were greeted by Jesus, who gave the group a little history lesson on Costa Rica, on the minibus ride to the 4-wheel truck.

When we transferred to the very impressive and airconditioned 4-wheel trailer, we road in the main cabin with the Fabian the owner. He was extremely nice and we enjoyed our conversation and the way up to the starting point. A couple of important highlights: they pride themselves on safety first AND Juan their photographer, captured some amazing shots. A small price to pay for a lifetime of memories to share with friends and family

Our "tour guide" was Kenneth. Could not have asked for a better guide. He was so much fun; we had a blast!

I strongly recommend booking with Amigos del Rio ... Pura Vida!

Unforgettable experience for the whole fam! We loved this tour from start to finish. Our guide Luis spent the hourlong drive to the river giving all sorts of information about the landscape and culture in Costa Rica and much more. His corny and sweet jokes were also really appreciated by our group :) The drive is steep and rather challenging but the driver did a great job keeping everyone comfortable. Once we got to the river we were provided with solid safety rules and techniques and then we were on our way! The Savegre is such a great river for a crew like ours with various experience rafting. Our guide Luis was the best! So kind and encouraging and fun, really pumping our kids up and giving them a sense of mastery over their new paddling skills and engaging with them in a positive way. The waterfall is a chill halfway place to have some tasty pineapple and snacks. Once you’ve completed the rafting portion it’s a calm drive back to town where we enjoyed a nicely prepared and tasty meal that is typical for Costa Rica. We didn’t realize how hungry the rafting had made us so this was a nice way to end the trip! It was a very complete tour and solid experience all around. A definite must do for anyone visiting Manuel Antonio. Highly recommend!

We had a great time rafting with this crew. Super knowledgeable, fun and know how to create a great experience for the group. Also very professional and organized. There is a photographer who will take a ton of photos of you so you will have some great memories- pictures were $45 for a group of three. Views are amazing!

I needed to hire a private guide to go hit some whitewater in our pack rafts. They don't offer this sort of trip at Amigos but one of the guides, Flanders, connected me up with a local guide who was able to organize two days of crazy fun. Amigos is one of those shops that prioritizes helping a visitor over trying to just make a quick colon. True professionals and river lovers. If you want to do something on a river start with Amigos!

Awesome experience, exciting enough to get your heart pounding with white water thrills, yet safe enough for our young kids, 6 & 13 yr old girls. These rapids were just right. Serious fun for anybody. Amigos del Rio guides take safety seriously. We heard rumors from other travelers back home that Costa Rica is the Wild Wild West, without regard for safety. Definitely not the case with Amigos. Jesus, our raft guide was fantastic, always in control, funny and informative about the biodiversity and cultural aspects of CR. They even named a lizard after him 😜. There were multiple safety/rescue kayakers floating around us as well, in the event someone falls in the water during the rapids sections. This was a highlight of our trip. Highly recommended.

Wow what an experience! We were initially booked on the easy rapids but got my arm twisted by my partner at the check in.
Firstly the guides are very experienced they compete themselves and know why they are doing.
Safety is paramount and we both felt extremely safe.
The adrenaline rushes are there of course !
The scenery is spectacular..
you need to paddle a bit and be mobile abs supple otherwise all such a great day.. Thanks Jason our captain you did a great job..
