The Dragin Fly charters out of Los Suenos Marina, Costa Rica. The Dream Team Crew of Captain James, Alberto and Roberto are handpicked for their fish catching abilities, and their attention to customer service. Typical catches include sailfish, sailfish and more sailfish, marlin, tuna and dolphin (also known as mahi mahi). George Beckwith and Anna Beckwith of Down East Guide Service are the managing partners of the Dragin Fly. Down East Guide Service is based out of Morehead City, NC (check out out TripAdvisor page). We can help you plan your fishing, accommodations, transportation and tours in Costa Rica. Down East Guide Service specializes in fishing vacation, family vacations, corporate trips and honeymoons. All trips are customized. We have been working in Costa Rica for over 20 years. George and Anna are typically in Costa Rica much of Dec-April so plan your trip with someone who knows.

My husband and I and 2 other couples recently went to Costa Rica and used Down East Guide Service for planning certain aspects of our trip. We had gone to Costa Rica last year and were able to fish on Dragin Fly - that was a first-rate fishing trip! Although our dates did not coincide with availability on Dragin Fly this year, George was able to set us up with Crush Em. We were very pleased with this trip as well. We shared with the captain when we headed out that morning that tuna was high on our priority list; he did not disappoint. By the end of the day, we had caught 6 sailfish, 3 tuna, and 3 Bonita. One of the mates made us sushi while on board — delicious! Also, Crush Em provided a great lunch and snacks throughout the trip. In addition, we brought our catch back to the Hook Up — would definitely recommend this. George and Anna at Downeast Guide Service arranged our round-trip transportation from the airport for us, and also an 8 hour tour day on a private van. We were very pleased with George and Anna; they are so easy to work with and aim to please their guests. Would highly recommend using their services.

Since April of last year I have been trying to think of a way to thank both Anna and George for all they did for my friends and me. Covid 19 did not allow us to make our trip to Los Suenos. Anna and George were both on top of our reservation from beginning to end. Their response to our reservation questions concerning transportation, lodging and fishing were addressed and answered all within 24 hrs and most of time with in just a few hours. We were so close to our time to be in Costa Rica that we had paid 100% of the reservation cost. When Anna and George realized that our trip was not going to happen and that it was out of all of our control they contacted me. I did not even have to call and ask. They informed me that they would send us back a full refund. You know what? THEY DID JUST THAT!! Thank you both and the good Lord willing we will be rebooking this year 2021 with Down East Guide Service / Dragon Fly Fishing Charters!! Phil

Just back from another amazing short and sweet fishing vacation put together by Down East Guide Service, March 11-15 to Los Suenos, Costa Rica. Every detail was taken care of for an easy trip in and out despite the Covid mess.
Caught Tuna, huge Dolphin and Sailfish until my arms 'bout gave out. Brought a lot of meat back for the restaurant Chef to cook up a mountain of fresh Tuna and Dolphin, prepared 6 different ways. Delicious!
Contact Down East Guide Service to put together an itinerary of exactly what you would like to do; fishing, zip line, crocs, monkeys, hiking, ATV's, volcanoes or to offer anything else you may want from your Costa Rica vacation. George and Anna set up and planned an amazing trip for us. It was so easy from getting off the plane to getting on the boat to go fishing, to getting back to the airport and everything in between. The condo was located on the Los Suenos property with nice view. I will definitely use Down East Guide Service and Dragin Fly Fishing Charters to book the next trip to Costa Rica. The guide service was top notch and allowed us to catch some nice Yellowfin Tuna and double digits of sailfish. Wouldn't recommend booking with anyone else or without using them.

Incredible trip that I will not forget. Great accommodations that were hard to find given that we were not committed to a week solid in one city. Transfers were professional and on time.
Fishing was great particularly given they were not really biting the week we were there. We caught all the tuna we could, a rooster and one large sail fish. Great time and great experience.
Food on the boat was one of our best meals the entire trip.

We have booked several trips to Los Suenos over the years with George and Anna and every trip has been perfect down to the last detail. This trip was no exception. We did a family trip right after Christmas for just fishing. We fished 2 days on The Dragin Fly and one inshore day on Gunsmoke. Both boats and crews were great and food was outstanding. We have fished Dragin Fly several times - so much that James and Alberto seem like extended family. Every trip has been first class. This year we caught 14 sails 2 Marlin(including a sail Blue double catch to end the trip-awesome) as well as 8 yellowfin tuna. That was 2 days of fishing. On Gunsmoke we caught 4 snapper including a 45-50 lb cuberra, a sea bass, several grouper and even a puffer fish. I can’t say enough good things about boat and crews. Travel was easy with no Covid test needed. You just needed the health insurance and health form which was easy and cheap. The restaurants were all open with safety measures in place. Booking with George and Anna makes it so enjoyable because it’s all taken care of and you just go and enjoy. We will be planning another trip soon.

George and Anna exceeded our expectations. The fishing was so great that we wished we had booked two days instead of one - even the ladies in our group agreed. Sea's were calm, boat had AC and one of hte best meals we had all week. Accommodations were convienent, spacious, very nice. The transporation company they used was always on time, each driver was fun to be with and eager to help with making a reservation or suggesting the right spot to visit or eat. I would recommend having the tour company serve as your driver over renting a car. They improved the quality of the trip.
We will definitly be back soon and next time will bring our kids!

Another great trip. I look forward to it every year. George and Anna make everything so easy for us. From the time we walk off the plane until we get back on the plane to go home all we have to worry about is relaxing. They have everything so buttoned up! We always make sure we fish on the Dragin Fly as that boat and crew is amazing. We can't wait until the 12th annual trip next year.

Our trip was the day after the Triple Crown ended. Jan 19. We were able to experience the event which made it very special. George and his crew are top notch! Professionally run and Capt. James and the mates truly made this the best experience I've had on a charter. I run a boat out of Florida and was super impressed with the organization and skills these guys have. We were on the tuna within an hour and immediately had success. More food and drinks than we could handle. I brought my 2 month old baby on the boat and she slept most of the day as if she was in her crib. The boat rides beautifully. Again I cannot say enough about the crew, we honestly enjoyed each minute of the day chatting it up. They worked each catch with precision. Later that day we landed 2 big Mahi and a sail. Fresh guacamole and sashimi, you won't find better!!! And the best part was the air blows COLD. Actually at one point had to ask them to turn it down.

Special thanks to George, Anna and the Dragin Fly crew. They all go out of their way to make the entire experience enjoyable. I have been taking customers to fish on the Dragin Fly for years, and each trip has been a complete success! I highly recommend!

See rates section on website. $2200/day peak season (Dec. - Apr.), $2100/day green season (May - Nov.). Plus, tip your mates and captain based on their service, $100/day per person is custom, more or less if you think they did better or worse. Everything else is included except fishing license. The yearly license is $50, but you can get a shorter duration one for less.

I am thinking of coming with my teenaged daughter in Feb, is the Spa nice and are there any yoga classes? Is there enough there to do that you don't need a car?
