We had a great experience from start to finish. Tom's crew was top notch and very professional. We had a three day trip. All 3 days by the end of the day all 3 of us on the trip were tired from reeling in fish🙂. John and Macho were great mates and took care of our every need. John should be a chef as his sandwiches that he made for us were out of this world. They had plenty of drinks and snacks available for us through our the whole trip. Day 1 we caught an 80lb sailfish, 9 good size tuna and 8 good size Mai Mai. Day 2 we caught 12 more nice Mai Mai while we looking for Marlin. Day 3 with rough seas and rain we caught a 200lb blue Marlin, 150lb striped Marlin, 150lb blue Marlin and we lost about a 300lb blue Marlin. I would highly recommend Captain Tom charters.

Had a great day with Captain Tom, and his 2 mates Macho & John. Tom is very passionate about fishing and wanted us to catch fish as much as we did. The boat is spotless, the rods, reels, fishing belts, teasers etc were all first class. The mates never stopped working, changing baits, teasers, filleting Mahi, making lunch etc. There is no guarantee you will catch fish but this boat
definitely tips the odds in your favor. They are all fluent in English so communication is never an issue.

Just finished a full day charter with Captain Tom and his two mates. All I can say is “the best charter I’ve done.” I have fished and chartered up and down the East Coast of the United States and the Bahamas and Captain Tom and his crew were fantastic. Super nice, engaging with smiles throughout the day, waited on my wife, two teenagers and I like we were VIP’s. Oh by the way, very talented fisherman. Captain Tom knows where the fish are (three big sailfish and a large Mahi) and his two mates prepped the baits, managed the lines and handled the fish boat side like true pros. Most of the other boats that day did not catch a fish! The mates took pictures of us catching fish and with the fish that will be hanging on our walls back at home.

This is not a review of sour grapes. I have been fishing Costa Rica for over 20 years. It has been challenging with Covid and I do not fault the boat or captain in any way for the way things turned out as far as FISHING GOES. We booked a last-minute charter and unfortunately had a family emergency back home. We informed Captain Tom about situation and asked If we could cut the trip down because half of our party had to cancel. We were told we would go for a half-day fishing charter. Full day fishing charter was $1900. We found out after the charter that a half day fishing trip was $1600. It was an expensive lesson to learn but the fishing experience was horrible. The captain made no attempt to follow the usual indication of fish in the area. They did not offer us any lunch just some soda and chips. It was a four hour boat trip that cost $1600. We were told of the cost of running the boat. How much money would be lost if we had canceled last minute. I have fished before and have not caught fish because that’s just fishing. We were just taking for a long ride on a boat with no attempt to catch anything. We also heard that fishing was slow and asked for an inshore day. We were ignored and not accommodated. Capt Tom took our money and sent us on our way. Beware beware beware. I will never fish with DreamWorks. Very sad because I love fishing Costa Rica I have been fishing there since the late 90s.

Captain Tom uses the best bait and tackle and puts you on fish which makes him the talk of the charter fleet out of Los Suenos.

Met Captain Tom at the docks in Los Suenos Marina and went out for a full day charter. Fishing was on fire we released several Marlin and hooked up with several Dorado. The boat was one of the nicer ones I saw at the dock and it was comfortable for my family. We booked another trip for October.
