With a small group we were able to really enjoy the experience (6 people). There was no pressure to rush and when we reached the water falls we could spend time in each one if we wished. Time was taken to describe the wildlife and vegetation with a well educated and enthusiastic guide Eduardo.
It was the right amount of time for this activity and it was within a reasonable distance from Jaco.

How cool was that? Small group adventure into the jungle. Staff was super friendly and well experienced. Highly recommend for those that are moderately fit. I do suggest wearing some old sneakers vs those water shoes, as they provide more traction and padding on the wet rocks.

This trip was fantastic, a highlight of our trip. We had four adults and five kids from 12 to 14 years old. We loved everything about it. The staff was super friendly, the breakfast was tasty, and everything about the trip was great. The drive in through the forest was scenic and fun, the zipline was good, the jumps were fun, and the highlight is definitely the rappelling in the falls. This is very fun!!! And the staff definitely knew what they were doing, so safety was not a concern. Strong recommend from our group!

These guys were just amazing. We had 8 of us and everyone completely enjoyed their experience. Joaquin and Wilson were great guides. They made sure that the people in our group who weren't comfortable with the rappeling were able to do it and enjoy themselves. I can't wait to go back and do it again!

My family did the canyoning tour. Tips below.
Our tour began with a pickup from our hotel and our guides were on time. We were taken to their base camp and served lunch (the vegetarian option is really good). You have the option to put your backpacks into a safety deposit box - take this option. You don’t want to carry around a backpack while rappelling. We then began the tour by taking a 15min car to the starting point in the jungle. We did ziplined closer to the waterfalls, and our guides, Wilson and Edwardo, did an excellent job training us to rappel. Additionally, Wilson and Edwardo were fantastic the entire way, and guided us through the most stressful of situations. We then got to the waterfall point, where we began to descend. When I went, I fell down and lost the rope. Nevertheless, Wilson and Edwardo, helped me even though the very intense situation. So a huge thank you to Wilson and Edwardo! After the waterfalls, it was a quick 10min walk back to the van.
Here are a few tips for those doing this tour:
1. Get awesome water-shoes. My water-shoes were sneaker-like and that’s what you should aim for. Although I fell, they help with balance which is a huge help when rappelling down a waterfall.
2. This tour is not for people who have any present injuries or don’t have great coordination. You need to be on your A game as every body part is involved.
3. Unless you are very intense, only opt to do the canyoning tour and not the extreme canyoning tour. The extreme canyoning tour involved a 200ft waterfall (plus the four smaller waterfalls) while the canyoning involves just the four smaller waterfalls (and I thought the four smaller waterfalls were hard).
4. Go to the bathroom at the base camp. There are no other bathrooms along the way, so make sure to go there.
5. Wear a bathing suit and a shirt you don’t mind getting wet. You will probably get soaked.
6. Don’t worry about bringing a camera because your guide takes pictures on the way that you can purchase later. In addition, your camera may get destroyed.
7. If you attempt the first waterfall and realize it is too difficult for you, a guide will help you sit on the side. Therefore, if you really get scared, you can sit the rest out.
8. The first waterfall you rappel is the hardest (I fell down here) and the second one is the longest. The third and fourth are much easier. But, know that as you rappel each time, you start to get better at it.
9. Trust and listen to your guides because they will be your life support if things go wrong.
10. You should wear bug repellant (especially in the rainy season) but don’t stress out about sunscreen. You will be in the cover of the rainforest with minimal sun.
11. Put your backpacks into the lock box at the base camp because rappelling with a backpack is difficult.
Bottom Line: I cannot underscore more how intense this tour is on your mind and body. But, it is an epic journey to complete and a true Costa Rican experience. I highly recommend taking this tour to make the most of your Costa Rica vacation.

My 11 year old son and myself booked this tour through Hanna at their Jaco office. She was very helpful and professional. We were picked up via an open truck with comfortable bench seating. This provided great views on the short drive just south of Jaco to the waterfalls. We saw Macaws and Toucans along the way! The tour consisted of 3 waterfalls which were easily accessible, and each contained pools to jump and swim in. There were also 5 repels from about 20' to 120'! Equipment and harnesses were all brand new, while the guides were very knowledgeable and fluent in English. Everyone, including my 11 year old son, had a terrific time! Highly recommend this tour!

Mike and his band of merry men don't tell you failure is not an option, they show you! Expert skills in terrain,plant/animal life, equipment utilization, and people. From the on time pickup, equipment setup, lunch, rock crawling, rappelling and zip lines, they made sure everyone had an exceptional adventure. I highly recommend Jaco Canyoneering for certified fun and adventure. Do not worry about skill level or age, they adapt to make sure you have a good time. Everyone walks away with the wow factor.

Before I give my review, you WILL NEED GOOD SHOES or Keen water sandals. Im talking about good shoes, Salomon, Keen, Merrell, something with serious grip. You need to be in good shape, there is a hike involved, in 90+ degree weather, if not, go on one of their lesser excursions (we ate breakfast with a group that were in their 70's and they walked along the waterfalls and had a blast swimming) Lastly don't think you can just go out and find these waterfalls, most of them are on peoples property or villages and you could get seriously hurt.
Tour started early and they brought us to a great local village? with 2 woman that cooked everyone unlimited homemade food, very filling and very good. Bring water or buy water there for $1, buy some for your guides too. Wilson and (totally forgot his name! but super amazing and full of knowledge) were wonderful tour guides. With being on many different adventures around the world, trying to be rushed or guides being in a bad mood, this is not the case. They are EXTREMELY safe and cautious and a pleasure to have met. Even when your pokey or scared they have some serious patience and make you feel ok. Really a great excursion for kids as well, I can't tell you enough how safe these guys are. They hook you on every rope possible while walking, climbing ect. Great experience with great pictures taken. Would do it again with them and them only. Theres dozens of excursions to take throughout Costa Rica and this is the one to do!!!! You want to go to Manuel Antonio, go there pay to get in and go to the beach (most beautiful spot in Costa Rica for a beach) you want to see a volcano? Rent a 4x4 and drive there go walk around, many things you don't need a guide or a bus full of people to get you there, but for this... you need these guys. Thank you Wilson and other guy I totally forgot his name but truly liked very much for our amazing adventure.
Sincerely,
Lyndsay

We booked this activity the night before and it was the best decision we made. We had an amazing time! If you want to try canyoning and ziplining this is the activity for you because you get two for one. It includes transportation to and from your hotel.
Wil and Christian were both super awesome!!!! My 10 year old niece also did this activity and they were great at ensuring our safety while having the best time ever! It was a bit of a hike to get to the waterfall site, but by the end of the almost 5 hour activity we had repelled down a beautiful waterfall, and did three ziplines. We were a group of 8 and we never felt rushed.
What an amazing experience!!!! Don't leave Jaco without doing this activity. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

We took the waterfall rappelling tour the first week of April. We booked through an agency and didn't know the name of the tour operator. As some in our group were tentative about heights, we googled another outfitter, and were scared out of our minds when we watched their video. So being a bit tentative about the upcoming experience, I was quickly put at ease when I saw the quality Black Diamond climbing harnesses, the ropes and saw that MIke was the perfect guide--calming, reassuring, focused on the cient, pinpoint with instructions. Backing off the platform in mid-air was a walk in the park with Mike looking me straight in the eyes and coaching me.
The total experience was incredible--good short hike to waterfalls, the rappel, short hike through the jungle to the ziplines, and then zipline back to base. Great Wow factor. I would go again for sure!
And as others have said, Mike is from the US, so perfect English. The other guides from Costa Rica were also very well spoken in English, very professional, and also knowledgeable about the trees, plants and animals in the jungle.
