I am a huge Costa Rica waterfall fanatic, and this was an absolutely awesome waterfall. It is HUGE! I went on a Sunday in November at 1pm and there was NOBODY there! Saw 2 different frogs, lots of birds, but no monkeys (no big deal). The pools at this time of the year were a little murkey - which would... More

Thank you, Martin for your hospitality. Take the walking sticks like he recommends! Long and steep hike with uneven footing but good handrails, ladders, etc. The waterfall is enormous and raging in the rainy season. Lots of blue morphos, poison dart frogs, and armored millipedes.

Some accurate information on here already if you read the last dozen or so reviews. Thank Heaven for Tripadvisor so you can know before you go. Follow the signs for Pura Vida Gardens and the waterfall hike is clearly marked at a turnoff (small parking area) before it. The man in the hut, pay $20/pp, the walking sticks. All true!... More

We travel to Costa Rica quite a bit and love to hike different waterfalls. We got there mid morning and only saw 6 other people on the trail. It is a very steep and long hike but if you're up for really immersing yourself in Costa Ricas beauty and nature I highly suggest it! It is $20 to park and... More

My boyfriend and I found this hike on TripAdvisor and we are REALLY glad we did. The start of the hike was not hard to find, and there's a little section for parking (we got there at 8am, but not sure how filled it gets later on in the day). The guy that owns the land was waiting there for... More

Awesome hike! The falls were outstanding and refreshing. There were a few pools to swim in and cool off. Lots of wild life to see.

We went to the waterfall (catarata) next to Pura Vida Gardens in the morning and spent 3 hours there. The entrance fee is $20 per person and to hike to the waterfall takes about 1.5 hours (it takes another hour to get back). The trail is beautiful and we got to see birds, leaf cutter ants, butterflies and a poison... More

This hike is not for the weak. I do every year and the experience is always great. Make sure to carry water and good water proof hiking shoes. I just love swiming at the different pools and standing infront of the water fall is a must the power received and the feeling has no explenations. If you are not a... More
