I hate zoos but this place has a nice mission to help animals return to the wild (mostly). Guide was great and clearly loved the animals and his job. Great place to see different frogs you are unlikely to see without serious exploring as well as snakes you don't want to encounter in the wild. Awesome butterfly farm. Steep price... More

Andre gave a great tour. Really learned a lot about butterflies, snakes, and frogs up close. We got rained out on the butterfly part of the tour and came back the next day to finish. Learned that butterflies and rain don't mix. Great tour for young and old.

Neo Fauna is a very small amphibian rescue and butterfly reproductive project. The operators are well-educated, passionate, and knowledgable. It was smaller than expected but no less interesting. Our guide made sure we knew exactly what the tour consisted off BEFORE we paid our admission and was very fair and honest. The butterfly enclosure was fabulous! We enjoyed our guide... More

It is a privilege to tour Neo-fauna - the owner walks you around and talks about all his animals and how he raises and releases them to the wild. Frogs - butterflies - snakes we saw them all as well as parrots that could not longer fly and turtles that could not go back to the wild. I highly recommend... More

Had read about Neo Fauna on TripAdvisor and really wanted to take the kids for a visit. I called the number on the website and they said it was closed and recommended a different place. Having read that this is common I called the number in one of the photos on this site and sure enough it was open and... More

This place is a little off the beaten path, but of course the best things in Costa Rica always are. It's great for kids and adults, with an amazing butterfly sanctuary and collection of local species. Warning to my fellow Americans: This is a highly educational place with lots of animals and biological information, there are no cartoon characters, high... More

Just a few miles from Jaco at the end of the road in the woods you'll find a neat little zoo. It's small, but that's why it was so much fun. Our guide gave us a private tour going around to each animal. We learned all about each of the animals. We got to hold a lot of the frogs,... More

Very informative and enjoyable!!! Our guide was funny and entertaining. We had a private tour and hit all the highlights! We even had an upset boa that made us all jump.... No worries, she was behind the glass. Randall was entertains!
