Piedras Blancas National Park forms part of the Osa Conservation Area, included in the National Conservation Areas System. It has an area of 14 350 hectares. With the objective of protecting the last tropical rain forest in the Golfito sector including the Esquinas River basin, Piedras Blancas National Park was created in January of 1993. This bio-geographical area has acquired great importance, becoming a gathering spot for flora and fauna species coming from North America, as well as South America. Pristine Rain Forest
May 2019 • Couples
fabulous rain forest experience, our room backed on to the forest where Howler monkeys called and visited us daily. We did an early morning hike where we saw, birds, a sloth, monkeys and snakes.

Unspoilt
Mar 2019 • Couples
Went along the trails with our guide during a tour of Costa Rica. Probably the best NP in terms of unspoilt flora with wide variety of trees, ferns, orchids, heliconias etc and birds. Saw plenty of toucans.

A short walk in the wet rainforest
Mar 2019 • Couples
Piedras Blancas is a young national park and still under improvement. The ranger station is not easy to reach, as it is connected to Golfito, the closest town by a dirt road, which is recommended for 4x4 drive vehicles. There are only a few trails you can hike. A guide is recommended.

Truly A Jungle Experience
Feb 2019 • Friends
In our second day in the Golfo, our guide once again took out on the kayaks to explore the Mangroves and to get on shore in the national park to truly experience, least for me, a real tropical jungle. The foliage was extremely dense and the weather was very hot and humid. Although I was able to see many different species I was not always able to get a picture of them due to the dense foliage. The birds, on the other hand, were more inclined to be photographed by me. It was a truly and I opening experience.

The lodges adjacent the park like Esquinas Rainforest Lodge give you almost unlimited access to hundreds of birds and other wildlife. A perfect rainforest immersion!
