Annie is the sweetest person. She takes great care of her horses. Horses are all well trained, well behaved and looked pretty happy. We loved horseback riding with her so much that we went twice. My kids ages 8yo and 5yo absolutely loved the ride along the beach and in the forest. My kids had horseback riding lessons before and once Annie assessed them and saw what they can do she allowed them to trot and cantor. I, on another hand, are not comfortable on the horses. Annie was very gentle, helped me a lot, did not push me to cantor and did not ever rush horses. She was very considerate with the surroundings giving helpful tips before and during the the ride. Whatever your age and experience, do not hesitate to take a tour with Annie. We went to several horse back riding tours in the Costa Rica and this one was our favorite for sure.

My boyfriend and I went riding with Britt and had the BEST time! Britt took us through a mix of jungle paths and beaches. When riding the horses, we were able to walk, trot and even canter on the beach! It was pure magic. Britt did a great job of showing us new areas of Puerto Viejo so I highly recommend doing this towards the beginning of your trip so you can explore it all. She even took photos and videos of us as we rode which was icing on the cake. Don’t miss out on this incredible tour!!

Our horseback riding adventure with Ismael was one of the BEST parts of our Costa Rican honeymoon. Walking through the jungle and then galloping along the seashore was unforgettable. It is NOT a Disney World-y kind of manufactured experience. You're ACTUALLY riding, going under trees and navigating the terrain. That may scare some people, but I LOVED that we were doing a real horseback ride, including sprinting freely along the water.
Ismael was a great guide. He made sure we had everything we needed, which allowed us to relax and be in the moment. The horses were very even tempered and sweet (miss you, Blacksocks).
If I get back to Puerto Viejo, this would be one of the very first things I'd sign up to do again.

I had an amazing and fun time riding BlackSocks through the jungle and on the beach. He was so gentle and well behaved. Lexi, my guide was so friendly, kind and knowledgeable about horses and made me feel safe on the horse as she guided me on the ride. I really loved that she didn’t mind taking pics and did a great job as a photographer. I will definitely visit “Ride The Rainforest” again when I am back in Costa Rica! #PuraVida 🥰

We LOVED this. My dad is 80 and my son is 12. They slow walked us leading my dads horse and stopping to tell us about plants and animals in the forest. Then, at the beach, they got my son out cantering. It was one of the few things we could all enjoy as a family. Lovely ride and I really appreciate them making it accessible.

My teenage daughter and I took a Ride the Rainforest horse ride on well cared for horses. We went in convoy into the rainforest which runs alongside the beach, spotting monkeys and sloths. Glimpses of turquoise water through the trees - it was delightful. Then we rose on the beach which was a real treat. Our horses were patient and lovely. Our guide was helpful and informative. It was a really wonderful couple of hours.

I recently booked a 10 person tour with Ride the Rainforest. Annie didn’t have all 10 horses so Raul Davis (Rancho Raúl +506 6075 0243 ) sent 3 beautiful horses and his nephew Oliver to help. Wow what a great experience for my son and his friends! They each loved the horse they were riding. Some wanted to gallop and beach some did not. Annie was able to make that happen for the ones who wanted to.
Hats off to Annie and Raul. That was a gig challenge to take 10 people most inexperienced.

A wonderful experience! My husband and I did the 1.5 hour tour and it was fantastic. Lexi and Annie were so helpful and knew so much about the local area. We walked through beach and jungle which was a real bucket list moment for me.

Dan and Ricardo started our day off at the beach with kayaks. I was a bit nervous with a 5 year old but Dan assured me everything would be fine and he was right. He found just the right spot to send us out so we weren't in any rough surf. We kayaked out around the point and in towards a river where they had fresh coconut -- they best we've ever had. We kayaked up the river spotting turtles, iguanas, but still in search of a sloth or a monkey. Dan did not disappoint (we joked that he'd radioed ahead to bring the sloth family out at just the right time) -- at the end of the river portion of the tour there was a sloth hanging on some vines right in front of us. He was one of the most adorable animals ever, reaching his cute little hand out as we passed. A few minutes later we spotted another sloth near the mouth of the river and a baby sloth a bit further up. We had a great lunch after paddling back and were then off to go horseback riding. Juliet and Tammy were great -- they found just the right horse for my daughter and Juliet walked along side her the entire 2.5 hours!! My daughter probably asked her a thousand questions during the ride and she handled it like a true pro! Kudos to these folks who are working really hard, living their dream, and setting the bar really high for tours in Costa Rica!

Hi there!
My husband came across your review while researching some things to do while in Port Limon (for a cruise) on October 29th. Your tour sounds amazing! The ship is supposed to arrive at 9:00 a.m. and depart at 6:00 p.m. Would there be enough time to schedule a tour with you guys, and if so, how would we go about doing so? Also, is there transportation available?
Thank you so much in advance!
Lindsey and Nick

That is a long drive for the day, its not actually in Puerto Limon, its much further Southeast, but there are plenty of taxis (1 hour drive probably) and yes you could do it, Manzanillo or Punta Uva is a gorgeous place to spend the day too. This was a magical dream come true for my daughter and they were so great. I recommend the Mermaid Tour. Its near Playa Chiquita and they can be found on Facebook, just type "Prancing Pony Puerto Limon Costa Rica"
