The Cloudbridge Reserve was nothing short of a wonderful experience and one of the highlights of my trip to Costa Rica. A warm welcome by Tom and Linda, enjoying the expertise and bird knowledge of Matt, absorbing the beautiful nature and noises of the cloud...More

From our research in planning this trip, we decided that we really wanted to find an area to experience the cloud forest without all the crowds and the developed tourism hustle-bustle we'd expect to encounter at Monteverde. This area seemed to fit the sort of...More

We had the great opportunity to rent the Gavilan cabin in the heart of the Cloudbridge Reserve for three nights. Oh what a joy, in the middle of stunning cloud forest, less rustic than expected we even had warm showers and a bathroom. The property...More

Spent a morning (March 6th) walking the trails along the river. Wonderful sights and sounds of birds, river rapids, waterfalls, etc. Met Lynda who lives there (Canadian like us) and she was very welcoming and kind to us. We spent an hour with her near...More

This was a semi-challenging trail to various waterfalls, sometimes steep with rolling rock, but the views were worth it. Wonderful waterfalls! Spectacular trees! Beautiful flowers! The reserve is high enough that it stays relatively cool and we had no mosquitoes. The renovation of the forest...More

Excellent reclusive location, reminding me of ashrams in India. A veritable jumping board to a commune with nature. Getting there was quite the adventure, though. We arrived at Hotel Uran (1 km from Cloudbridge) at about 9pm, well after dark and well after the town...More

Cloudbridge is the beautiful result of a 15 year effort to reforest the area at the entrance to Chirripo National park. Getting there is half the fun... the road gets bad... then you get to the hotel Uran and then it gets really, really bad......More

To be honest, we visited this reserve by "accident". We wanted to visit the Chirripo National Park. But after our journey in Cloudbridge, we were very happy that we didn't go to Chirripo. We did the longest trail, which combined a piece of the Chirripo...More

I visited Cloudbridge Nature Reserve with York university! It was a tough but extremely rewarding hike. Your guide will more than most likely suggest a walking stick... Take it! It makes your journey down much easier. This hike is mainly upward which means once you're...More

Hello! How far of a drive is the Cloudbridge Nature Reserve from San Gerardo de Dota? We are staying at Dantica Lodge. What is the cost of entry? What is the cost for a guide? Gracias!

Probably a few hours drive. You'll have to drive to San Isidro de la General and then back up toward Rivas. If you look up Monte Azul resort, there are good directions for driving. If you get to Monte Azul, you just stay on... More
