I planned to visit Costa Rica for my birthday, which coincided with my college freshman’s spring break, so we made it a duel purpose trip.

I knew we had to experience the beauty of the countryside. Our day long trip with Dario took us to a coffee estate/family which was incredible, packed with historical info and scenic views. We also had a delicious Casado lunch at a soda located on the side of the mountain with views of a waterfall—no words can describe that once in a lifetime experience. We also visited a butterfly garden and bonsai tree garden, both located on the coffee farm. We visited the Poas Volcano which was a breathtaking experience. We also were able to take a bit of a side tour with our tour guide, Dario was very personable and informational throughout the trip.

Tips:

Bring water!, wear good hiking boots, and definitely eat breakfast. Also, if you have asthma or any breathing problems, be sure to take your medication before and do not overextend yourself. Our guide was great because he kept us all at a great safe pace, especially as we reached higher altitudes.

The roads are so narrow and winding, but our driver/tour guide navigated them almost effortlessly—even after sundown. So if you are nervous about heights, maybe rethink this tour.

Absolutely highly recommend!

Freddy was amazing! He was so knowledgeable, kind and caring. I've been on many tours in different countries before but Freddy was my favorite tour guide of all! We really appreciated how well he took care of us that day. Amazing tour, highly recommend!!

Myself and my partner thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the Poas Volcano and the La Paz Waterfalls (we opted out of the Starbucks coffee farm because, well, Starbucks; plus we'd planned a plantation tour on another day). Our tour guide Alex was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and pleasant. The scenic drive to both locations only intensified our enjoyment of this full day. Thank you to Costa Rica Itinerary.

Run away from this company !!!
Their advertising is misleading, they sold me a package that included 3 places in one day and we only visited 2.

We did not do the Starbucks tour.

A few years ago I did this same tour with another company and it was totally different. Run away, don't waste your money

The Poas Volcano was amazing, given it was clouded over when we arrived, we thought it was a bust, however we were treated with a spectacular view, the issue came with La Paz Waterfall and garden, we never got to tour the garden with wildlife, the reason we booked the tour, because Costa Rica Itinerary tour provider missed that piece of the Viator tour, ensure you get what you paid for. We were only offered a 10% refund for missing out on this opportunity. The Starbuck's farm tour was very interesting. The tour also lacked the water that was supposed to be provided and our driver didn't know where he was going because he lacked the training he should have been provided prior to his first day. Some positives however, not what we paid for. Wouldn't recommend a tour provided by Costa Rica Itinerary

We were scammed by this tour company "Costa Rica Itinerary". The phone no. of this tour company is 506-40002217, whatsapp 506-60182280, email is costaricaitinerary@gmail.com and info@costaricaitinerary.com.

We enrolled "Poas Volcano and Starbucks Coffee" tour for two people for 28/2 and paid USD220 online. On 26/2 afternoon, we received an email from the tour company from Freddy, Sales department, he said the tour is cancelled due to volcanic activity and wanted to change us to "Rio Celeste" tour. We do not want to go to Rio Celeste and asked him to refund our money. But we got no reply by email, no reply by whatsapp, no reply by phone. We sent many emails and many whatsapp and made many calls on 26/2 and 27/2.

We asked other tour companies and told us that Poas volcano is not closed. Now we cannot go to the tour and cannot get our money back. We have been scammed!

We have complained to ict.go.co to help us to get our money back!

We are very angry with this tour company. This company is cheating us. We feel very disappointed and we have a very bad impression on Costa Rica.

We had a great adventure on the Poas Volcano Tour and Doka Coffee tour.
Our Driver, Carlos Soto was punctual, informative, friendly , funny and made our day very enjoyable. On our way to the Volcano, we stopped at this amazing coffee shop with the most beautiful views and flower garden. It was an exceptional clear morning and was an added treat. Carlos also made an unexpected stop and was able to show us a Sloth that he had seen in the tree. The Volcano was worth the visit, it was quite impressive, we arrived early and luckily had a crisp clear view. Our next stop was the Doka Coffee Tour. We are not coffee snobs, but really enjoyed the tour of this Historical 100+ year old Coffee Mill. We certainly have a better understanding on the process and difference in coffee. Costa Rica has Top Tier coffee and does not export any coffee that is sub par. This helps to keep Costa Rica Coffee top of the line. The tours start early, such at 7:00 am. Which has worked out well as they mornings seems to be clear and you risk the chance of rain in the afternoons ( at least in September) We were fortunate to have two tours with Carlos and he was exceptional. Filled with local information and a great driver in the Traffic.
