The main attraction of the park is the Póas volcano, a complex and very active stratovolcano that reaches 2708 meters above sea level, and one of the main peaks of the country. It is considered one of the most important eruptive centers of Costa Rica and one of the natural wonders of the country. In turn, the park that shelters it is the most visited nationwide.

This was a trip of a life time! We were lucky enough to have Rio take us out from the ocean and onto the river. We saw so much wild life between birds and fish! Truly life changing and would highly advise this trip with this amazing crew!

The Poas Volcano was amazing, given it was clouded over when we arrived, we thought it was a bust, however we were treated with a spectacular view, the issue came with La Paz Waterfall and garden, we never got to tour the garden with wildlife, the reason we booked the tour, because Costa Rica Itinerary tour provider missed that piece of the Viator tour, ensure you get what you paid for. We were only offered a 10% refund for missing out on this opportunity. The Starbuck's farm tour was very interesting. The tour also lacked the water that was supposed to be provided and our driver didn't know where he was going because he lacked the training he should have been provided prior to his first day. Some positives however, not what we paid for. Wouldn't recommend a tour provided by Costa Rica Itinerary

The entrance to Volcan Poas is in the midst of a national park that is conserved and protected with great care by SINAC (National System of Conservation Areas). You need to reserve tickets online, either through Tripadvisor, which is recommended (USD 30 per person) or through SINAC website, which is in Spanish. The price for the entrance to Volcan Poas is different for resident and non-resident visitors. After reserving the tickets, you will receive an email from the Costa Rica Tour Itinerary couple of days before your visit asking for time slot between 7 AM - 1 PM local time - you need to respond to this for them to plan the slots, so don't forget to complete this! About the trip: We reached the entrance and presented our papers at the gate, the in-charge person just said "You're all good to go, sir" after taking a look at the papers. You have ample parking space inside, in a way, regulated because of the hourly slot-based system. Once you park the vehicle, the Tour in-charge, who is a SINAC authority, provides you with a industrial-quality helmet as the volcano was active until Oct 2019. You need to wear the helmet at all times until you return back to the centre. Each set of visitors are provided helmets from 4 different colors, you need to stick with your group. There is a 5-10 mins presentation on the Volcan Poas, activity, and safety measures in Spanish and English by the park attendant Then, you are provided 20 mins to visit the crater, which is less than a kilometre away from the centre. You can view the crater clearly only if there are no clouds, else all you will see are clouds, so review the weather before you reserve tickets. The viewpoint is indeed excellent, right on top of the crater - you can also see acid-mixed water in the crater (photo attached). After 20 mins, the park attendant reminds everyone to move back to the centre as a group, for the next set of visitors Once back to the centre, we can return the helmets and make it to the parking. The entire visit itself took less than an hour, but worth the while for anyone (like me) who hasn't experienced a volcano! It will be cold, so carry a light jacket during your visit. The entire park is very well maintained and the drive up to the Volcan Poas is quite scenic, with lots of local strawberry and cheese farms. Children package and sell the really sweet strawberries and if its the season, do not miss getting some! If you're in Costa Rica, one trip that you shouldn't miss!

Booked Exotic Boat Tour for wild life observing... through Trip Advisor (Viator tour). Substitute guide/van from SYLtravel, when we arrived; all very confusing and guide knew nothing of why. Very difficult to get straight goods on anyone's website. Just 2 couples who booked together, so we had guide Anna's full attention. Goes nowhere near San Juan River/Nicaragua as advertised. Just the same 45 min Tortuguero River tour as everyone else, but OK; saw lots of local wildlife. Very nice visits to a small plantation, and several fruit/local product stops and rural trees/plants; all focusing on local fruits/products, very informative. OK tour of the city (not exciting place, somewhat grungy, but very informative). Beach stop OK, but really more just to see or eat, not worth wearing a swim suit all day. Nice, small, focused tour, very helpful guide, just need a more accurate description. No email contact to ask questions or info on pickup, etc.; had to trust they'd be there. But enjoyed the day.

NOT recommend this local travel company. The starting time got delayed one hour. And only the driver, no tour guide. Also the driver family accompany(his pregnant wife and niece) traveled with us entire time,11hours. We felt like following their tour by seating in the back of the van, like riding the taxi. Lunch was at the cheapest restaurant in town, Rest. La Soda Coati, which it has the sign on the restaurant, old neighborhood dinning style and lower(lowest quality for the package trip ever) quality- frozen veggies used, weird oil taste. Touring with other tourist, we share the experience, moments and laughing with joy, but not with this tour company at this trip at ALL.

Hi Sarah sorry for inconviniecne, but however I don't feel fair this review, was not an hour, we set your pick up at 8:45 am and we got delay of 15 minutes and call you to inform you I think was your Aunt Yulia who answered us, we went to a good a restaurant in Monteverde in any moment we wrote that we are going to the more expensive or luxury restaurant in Monteverde, since the price is not enough to do it. We were explain each place we were passing I don't feel fair this review, since we gave them a good service, we went to a good a restaurant in Monteverde in any moment we wrote that we are going to the more expensive or luxury restaurant in Monteverde, since the price is not enough to do it. We were explain each place we were passing, we stop to take pictures, sometimes I did not want talk since you were sleeping. At the hanging bridges I arrange to go with a official guide of the park of hanging bridges and reptiles park since we are not the official guides of these parks, when we were back we offer them to stop at beach to spend some time and look the sunset but you did not want. We always try to give the best experience for our user, sorry this was not the case
