This is a beautiful little park with well-marked, easy hiking trails. Its obviously a popular local hangout without many tourists. Its cheap and easy to get to from Heredia and the surrounding areas. There are a lot of nice little picnic areas and areas for kids to play, but they appeared to get pretty crowded as the day went on so if you're hoping for a pavilion, arrive early. Definitely a great place to spend a relaxing day in nature!

this is a very typical place where Central Valley locals spend their weekend with the typical "carne asada" lunch and playing soccer in the open fields. If you want to spend your time like a local, go here, buses depart from Heredia downtown. Be sure to call in advance as some holidays might be closed. Entrance is cheap, but you must pay in cash. Plan to be there before 8 am if you want to get a "rancho" a roofed place with water and grill facilities.
