Loved this tour. The tour guides were more like comedians and so kept everyone interested throughout the tour. My personal favourite was that they asked everyone what country they came from and then customised the tour to include references to the places people came from....More

The Britt Coffee tour was quite eye opening. The entire roasting process was not only shown to us via video, but we were able to watch parts of the process in real time. The facility is located in town, features parking, a restaurant and gift...More

They made this tour fun! All of the little informative facts/tips about coffee while humoring us with clever word play. Worth every penny. Gift shop was expensive but worth it to me for the one stop shop. Highly recommend.

You learn a lot about your favorite beverage and the guides make sure to answer every question and to make it fun. Ask anything you've been wanted to know about coffee and also learn on how to taste coffee.

We were at first disappointed that this was not a real coffee plantation but the tour was so much fun and informational that it made up for it. The tour guides were very entertaining. We all had a great time.

Hi LoveTravel299866! Yeah, as a matter of fact, we are a coffee roaster :) But it's so nice to know you enjoyed our Tour and had a great time with us! Thanks for your review.

Is not a real plantation, but a reenactment of one. Also does not show the roasting process, but a movie of the process. People were extremely nice, and the grounds made for a nice afternoon walk, but for my money - I was hoping to...More

Hi JohnnyDoe86, in fact, we are not a coffee plantation, but a roaster. We explain the history and the process from the very beginning until you have the cup of coffee in your hands.

It's in Heredia but kind of out of the way, best to use a taxi to go and you can return by bus.

Tours of businesses or companies near SJ (3 Replies)
I went on the Cafe Britt coffee plantation and Senor & Senora Ese wood factory tours. I am looking for more tours like this, tours of businesses. Preferably I'd like them to be a popular business and $20 per person or less. Also if they make food that might make it more interesting

Britt Coffee Tour worth hanging around for? (3 Replies)
My friend and I will be flying into the San Jose airport on a Saturday evening and are planning to head down to Puerto Viejo the following Wednesday. In between then we may stay at a place in the Turrialba valley for a few days. Do you think it would be worthwhile to stay two nights at a hotel in/near Alajuela after we arrive on Saturday so we can take the Britt coffee tour on Sunday before heading to Turrialba on Monday? Or should we head straight to Turrialba on Sunday morning? My friend...More

Response fromCanaTico|
No, that would be a mistake. Sunday is the best day to transverse San Jose to get to route 10 to Turrialba. Leave early and stop at Irazu Volcano on the way. Do the Golden Bean Coffee tour (check the excellent TA reviews) near Turrialba. This tour can be combined with Guayabo National Monument in one day as they are nearby.

Chorreador for coffee (4 Replies)
We had the best coffee in Costa Rica and want to make our own chorreador. What type of cloth do we use? Also, we brought home Britt coffee, not knowing what to buy. Now that we're back in the states, any recommendations for a brand of Costa Rican coffee we can get here..like maybe at Trader Joes or Whole Foods?
