    Wonderful and Very Interesting!
This tour was truly amazing! We were a group of 15 travelers. Our guide, Maria, was very knowledgeable and had a wonderful personality. She made the tour interesting and so pleasant. Everything was very interesting and I was very surprised about some of the facts; especially how the coffee beans are hand picked and done several times - depending on when they are ready. Highly recommend this tour!
Hello! It was a pleasure having you and your friends in our coffee tour! I will pass your comments to Maria I hope to see you again soon here at Cafe Britt!

    Great for a long layover
This is a great option for a long layover. It took 30mins to Uber from the airport to the coffee tour. The tour was 90mins and provided lunch. They even stored our bags. The grounds are beautiful and it was an interesting tour. Definitely recommend!

    Great Tour Guides
What a fantastic tour! This is perfect for coffee lovers that are interested in knowing how coffee is grown in Costa Rica. Our guide, María, was fully engaging and knowledgeable. She toured us through the grounds and expertly taught us so much in an interactive way. We learned about the history of coffee, tasted various coffees from the region, picked beans, and even learned how to detect different flavors in the coffee like a true connoisseur! She is full of energy, and it felt like a VIP tour. Our second tour guide, Pedro López, picked us up in his van and took us to a different location for the waterfall tour. It began to rain pretty hard once we arrived, so we decided to just tour the grounds without making the trek down to see the waterfall. Pedro pivoted quickly and showed us the animals in the animal sanctuary. He also educated us on the fauna native to Costa Rica. With a smile on his face and "Pura Vida" personality, Pedro helped us make the most of this tour. It was definitely worth it.
Hi Patricia! Thank you so much for this awesome review! It makes us so glad that you had such a great time with us. I will share your comments with Maria and Pedro. Hope to see you again soon in Costa Rica! Pura vida!

Seriously, this coffee is the best and I am from the Pacific Northwest.
A great tour! Located in a beautiful Area in San Jose. The coffee was the best we've ever had and we're from the Pacific Northwest. Our tour guides were hysterical and informative. We ended up taking 5 bags of coffee home.

Informative and entertaining tour on a beautiful property near San Jose
The tour takes place in a beautiful property near San Jose and it was a perfect mix of information and entertainment. Tina and Thuz, our tour guides, were knowledgeable, friendly, and funny, and they encouraged group participation as we learned a lot about coffee – its history, how it is grown, and how it is roasted and prepared for shipment (including a look into the actual roasting factory). The property includes not only coffee trees, but also a beautiful butterfly garden. The lunch, included in our tour, was a great way to finish off our experience. And of course we bought some coffee in their shop which they will ship back to the US free of charge.
Hi judc2016! Thank you for visiting our coffee plantation and for your kind comments. I'm glad to hear you had a great experience with Tina and Chuz on the coffee tour! Hope to see you again and share with you our passion for coffee! Gracias y pura vida!

    Best tour guides EVER!
Guides Chuz and Rizz were SO MUCH FUN! Honestly one of the BEST tours I've ever experienced. Educational. Interactive. Theatrical. FUN! This is a MUST DO and well-suited for all ages. We arrived a bit early and enjoyed a nice lunch at their on-site cafe. Very tasty and diverse menu. The factory store has a lot to offer beyond coffee, as well. AND, there's a butterfly farm onsite, too! Simply fantastic.
Hello A2535HGjenniferc Thank you so much for the review. We're glad you had a great time with us! Chuz and Luis are indeed very passionate about coffee, I'm happy to hear you learned with them about our golden bean and the secrets behind a cup of gourmet coffee! Pura vida!

I wish the tour guides spoke English as much as Spanish. I found others laughing when the guide spoke Spanish but then no English interpretation given. I did the lunch tour, save your money. Even the pico gallo rice was hard and undercooked, not good for a Costa Rican staple. The butterfly garden was nice. Lots of tasting opportunities so be careful of over doing the caffeine. The gift shop was nice and had better prices on their special regional coffee blends. Their regular blends can be purchased in San Jose markets for less.

I had very high expectations from this tour due to all the positive reviews I read. It was very good, but short of excellent. We signed up last
minute and they had space for us (online the website said it was booked, but when I emailed they said they had room in the tour). The tour group was a fairly large size, 24 people that were both Spanish and English speaking. The tour guide was good but he first explained everything in Spanish and then English which made the tour feel longer than it was. They could have easily split the group in 2 and done one in English and one in Spanish. It felt rushed because he was getting through the information fast but long as we had to wait for him to do his Spanish bit first. The kids were getting impatient towards the end. I thought we would have gotten to see some of the process live, since we were in the coffee bean harvest season (I read with some of the smaller coffee farms you can see the bean being harvested). Overall a decent tour, but if I could have done it again I would have chosen some of the smaller farms to get a more intimate feel.
We ate at the cafe after the tour and the food was pretty good.

Lovely people, very welcoming and accommodating. I was worried about my luggage in the car as I was between destinations. Roberto answered my query very promptly and it was no problem as the area is guarded with a check-post.
The grounds are not huge but very lush and green. There is a lawn, petting zoo and a butterfly garden.
The tour was led by a very knowledgeable and humorous Maria. I certainly know more now about coffee and how to taste it.
To finish off I had a (generous portions) salad which was very fresh and extremely reasonably priced. The menu is varied and suits everyone.
Overall a good three hours well spent. Would recommend.

The coffee tour was fun, entertaining, casual, friendly, and informative. Our tour guide Luis did a great job switching between English and Spanish and keeping us laughing. The grounds are beautiful and lunch was delicious. Would definitely recommend spending a couple hours learning more about coffee if you're in the area. Staff were all very friendly and booking was easy and quick. We booked online the night before for our tour with no problems.

We showed up in the rain on a Monday and happened to be the only 2 on the tour. The check in desk provided us with a large umbrella to start. We met with Louis and right away he was very engaging, funny and informative. From start to finish it was a unbelievable experience. The coffee was phenomenal, but our guide really made this tour worthwhile!
If you’re interested in learning about coffee and horticulture then you’ll enjoy Britt Coffee. They also have a lovely store & cafe.

“Yeah I cut that cherry tree down, but I used every part of it.” - George Washington (probably). Upon setting foot into the Britt Coffee campus, all I could think about was this timeless quote. The sincerity, the truth, the passion, and dedication to sustainability was almost overwhelming. In full honesty, I never met George Washington; however, I imagine he enjoyed coffee from time to time. Sharing similar opinions, not drinking coffee on the daily but not being new to the hobby, I was pleased to be immersed into the world of coffee by Britt. The tour was phenomenal, incredibly educational and profoundly dedicated to truth while maintain a theme of a love for coffee. Additionally, the theatre performance regarding the different types of coffee was so splendid that I considered moving to Costa Rica to drink coffee full time. Alas I did not, but this was nevertheless an unforgettable experience that I will cherish for a lifetime.

Tour was OK. We had lunch at restaurant Don Prospero. Food was good. The billing was very confusing. Prices on the bill did not match prices on the menu. For instant if menu said 11,200 colones the bill said 14,462 colones. When we asked the waitress she explained that the menu showed a discount which was not in the computer, but that the total reflected the prices on the menu. We added items and the total was still higher. The waitress said that the total included sales and service taxes which were not itemized. If those taxes do not appear on the bill, is the company paying the service tax to the employees and the sales tax to the government? I felt bad for the waitress who had to explain the messy billing to the customers. The experience was very unpleasant and irregular.

Had a wonderful "virtual" event with our hosts Maria y Luis with 20 of closest guest back in California. The presentation was informative and very entertaining (just like the live version).
We all enjoyed using the French Press as well as different types of the world famous Britt Coffee.
Born and raised in Costa Rica it meant a lot to me to share not coffee history but also experience some of the best coffee in the world!
