My family (immediate family and some extended family members traveling with us) did a combined Snorkeling and Scuba diving tour with Tamarindo diving at the offshore Catalina Islands. We had a wonderful experience. Four of us are advanced open water certified divers (two adults and two teens) and three of our group are snorkelers (one teen and two adults). Everyone came away with a great experience and big smiles! The snorkelers saw eagle rays, white tip sharks, and a variety of fish. The divers saw plenty of white tip sharks, octopuses, and a variety of fish. The dive profile was adjusted to our level of certification and had minimal current and excellent visibility. Snorkelers had an excellent time and had a separate guide. Both dive/snorkel sites were phenomenal. The guides were very safety oriented and lots of fun. Due to the size of our group it was just our family and guides/captain on the boat. The seas were very smooth on the way out to the dive sites, but a little rough on the way back. I am not prone to see sickness so it was no big deal, but those in our group that do have a tendency to get seasick took Dramamine prior to the tour as a precaution which I would recommend in general for anyone doing offshore diving or snorkeling as water conditions can be unpredictable. I’m sure there can be a huge variety of marine life depending on the time of year that you visit and that visability can vary tremendously, but June was 10/10 for us!!! Overall it was an awesome experience for quality of dive, quality of service, and we would love to come back.
