This is cool if it is the "nesting time" of year - which is only a few months. Otherwise. It is a waste of time and money. Don't think SIGNS confirm there are TURTLES. it is an annual event for a few months. If it isn't the time, take a boat tour up the rover instead.

Nice tour with many great things to see. Tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. One word of caution, don't get on the boat without establishing the cost first. Our hotel told us the cost was $25 per person and we met a couple that was charged that amount the day prior. We thought the cost would be the same but we're asked to pay $40 per person, plus a share of for the "free shuttle" back to our hotel. This of course all occurred at the end of trip when we got blind sided and were stuck in an uncomfortable situation. Nice trip but not worth $80 per couple and transportation fee.

We booked a trip with Tamarindo Nature Tours to go to Ostinal Beach to watch Ridley's Green Turtles come ashore to lay eggs. It was absolutely brilliant. If you go at the right time of the year and month then dozens, or even hundreds, of turtles come ashore in a single night. I exchanged e-mails with Hector, who runs the tour company to make sure we were there at the right time, we saw around thirty or forty turtles and followed one from the sea to where she laid her eggs and then back again. We were within about two feet while she laid. Quite amazing. It's about an hour and a half from Tamarindo, we were picked up from our hotel and provided both the transport and a knowledgeable guide(Hector's brother). In a holiday packed with wildlife, this was the best single experience and I cannot recommend Tamarindo Nature Tours enough.
