Roger was the best driver/tour guide on our visit to Rincon this week! He arrived on time with a clean, nice SUV. He shared interesting stories and info about the towns we travelled past and helped answered any questions we had. We loved having our own tour guide to navigate the Rincon adventure park and communicate plans for the day. His suggestions on activity arrangements helped to maximize our day and have an amazing experience. He kept our bags and items safe at the car during our visit. We enjoyed never being pressured on time of when we needed to return back to Tamarindo. He even offered stopping at a SODA (local diner) and coffee tour/ giftshop on our way to/from our excursion. Roger really helped to make our excursion experience in Costa Rica the best ever!!

Hector was an amazing tour guide. He was always on time, his cars were clean, and he was very kind and informative. Additionally, during our activities (like white water rafting), he watched our belongings and kept them safe. On the long drives to our activities, Hector taught us a lot about the culture and customs of Costa Rica. He even let us stop at a local bakery on our drive back to the airport and guided us around the shop so we could try authentic, local Costa Rican pastries. It was a wonderful experience using Tamarindo Explorer. I highly recommend them for any tourist who wants safe, reliable transportation and the chance to dip their toes in the true culture of Costa Rica.

We used Tamarindo Explorer for all our transfer needs while visiting Costa Rica. We were a party of six and stayed in 3 different locations, we didn’t feel comfortable renting a car. Hector communicated quickly and clearly. I checked with 3 companies and his prices were the best. The driver were always on time and very friendly. The vans were clean and comfortable. I would strongly recommend Tamarindo Explorer for transfers and I’m glad we didn’t rent a car.

Recently returned from our 6-day stay in Costa Rica. It was quite an awesome experience to visit the ecotourism country, in the province of Guanacaste particularly. More so, at the start of the dry season in December, when the weather was just picture perfect! We consider it as one of the memorable travels we have had so far. Here, we get to do something different from our other foreign travels. We had the best time! We would like to thank Hector of Tamarindo Explorer for facilitating such a wonderful holiday itinerary. That night we arrived at the Liberia airport, we were welcomed by this young lad, Jermay. He politely directed us to where his dad (Johnny) was, who would then gladly pick us up with his van. The ride to our hotel took an hour and half but along the way, that was when David, my husband and myself got to know them easily already as our tour guides. Driving up to the Monteverde Cloud Forest on the first day of the tour was fantastic (except when it began to rain at the reserve). On the way up there, we’ve seen gorgeous sceneries. The countryside was really amazing! We enjoyed sensational landscapes, of very green mountain pastures with white and even black cows grazing the fields. In fact, Costa Rica was tagged as the Switzerland of Central America some years ago, not sure if it’s still is, today. The itinerary provided an excellent route of highlights from Monteverde hanging bridges, 8 of them, which we passed all in great stride (except at the last few ones when our feet began to feel tired), to the awesome clouds’ formations. And as we went deeper into the forests, we’ve seen more of its beauty and biodiversity, spending the majority of time walking in the well-maintained hiking trails. Our guide, Johnny, was professional, polite and patient at all times, always asking if we were doing fine and constantly reminding us to be careful on the path when it’s slippery or if there’s a bump or big rock along the hike. Always leading us on the trail was Jermay, though shy and quiet, he would also look out on us once in a while. The surprise of the day was spent delighting with the hummingbirds. How lovely are these tiny birds! Kept taking photos and videos with them as they hummed and perched closest even up to our fingertips! Not to mention how many times we went back to the site just to take the perfect picture with them! That was immensely entertaining! The next day tour, believe it or not, turned out to be my best experience in Costa Rica: horseback riding! It’s been a while since I rode one but the ride takes you to a gradual inclining trails through farmlands, climbing up and down the hills, and appreciate the dense forests and those gorgeous natural flora…then coming out into the open fields of grassland and green pastures, on a sunny day and with the bluest skies above, it was a breathtaking scenery indeed! After that wonderful horseback ride, we walked another half a mile to the Cataratas Oropendola where off we swam a little bit and dipped the cold waters just to cool off then hurried back to the restaurant and took our sumptuous lunch to our delight! Another wonderful tour we took was when we did the mud bath and hot springs. Just to try the mud bath for experience but we really liked it in the end! Next day was the Mangrove Boat Tour, along the way on our drive, Johnny stopped where the monkeys were hopping from one tree to another, multiple of them, just to take a glimpse. Then some of the wildlife fauna on this ride, made us kind of scared a little bit, seeing crocodiles posed for a photo opportunity with its mouth wide open for a long time which I thought to be a fake one but it moved and swam back to the river following our boat. We thought this was a memorable adventure in Costa Rica because we were accommodated in surprisingly varied and excellent places. We plan to go back again in the future. Tour Guides: For the most part, we were thankful of Johnny and Jermay who made us feel like family. They clearly exhibited willingness to help us enjoy our time which we did. Jermay, who barely uttered only a few words, is a very nice young lad. He always carries with him his small bible and reads it when he stays in the car while we explored the places. That’s just awesome to know him do that compared to young boys his age staying out in the streets. The one quality I like on them is to hear them pray over our food as what we Christians do saying grace before meals. Johnny is a wealth of knowledge. Aside from the tour specifics, he would inject other interesting discussions and topics which we enjoyed also. He went way beyond all expectations just to say the least. He was not strict as to the time and would ask if we still want to go see other places not listed on the itinerary like the best beaches around Guanacaste, Flamingo Beach, Playa Avellanas to name a few where we saw the most beautiful sunset! He was truly focused on the customer ensuring that we were satisfied. We had some emergency requests for health reasons and he willingly obliged. Even minor stuff like stopping by a small town to have my husband’s broken eyeglasses fixed and we were thankful for that. He and Jermay assisted us willingly to our comfort. I would certainly use and highly recommend Tamarindo Explorer and Johnny with his son, Jermay as tour guides, again. Cheers! Leilani
