Casey and Gavy were wonderful. The tour guide kenneth took us on the quads from the city through the jungle and to playa puerto viejo for about 2 1/2 hours total round trip. Would definitely recommend and prices are the best in Tamarindo. Thank you Action Tours

Rented golf cart. I think it’s super efficient navigating via golf cart around the area, allowing a smoother and fun experience. Gaby helped my friend and I and she was AMAZING. Hopefully if and when you buy your package/etc. you get Gaby to help you out b/c she makes the experience 100 times better!

a cool tour!

My husband and I went on a private side by side tour for $200 total (the cheapest that we found, by far). It was 3 hours long and we went through the countryside and visited a few beaches.

The tour guide rode on an ATV in front of us and stopped to tell us about the scenery and some history of the places we visited.

I liked that we got to have a drink on the beach as one of the stops!

The tour guide will take photos/videos of you and then they will send you the photos/videos after the tour through WhatsApp.

They only accept cash, but there is an ATM that dispenses dollars at the bank next door.

TLDR Decent ATV ride, Poor communication

I wish our experience was as great as the other reviews, which was why we booked it.

We had put in a request days before the requested date and only got an email saying they would contact back shortly. Normally when booking something like this you get some sort of confirmation or response back the next day. It had been days and we were wondering if it actually booked. I scrambled emailing the day before without any response and then whatsapp’ed texted which finally got a response. I then get an email at 8pm telling us that our time we requested was booked and that the next time open was 3 hours later. It was too late to book another ATV tour so we kept it.

When arriving to the location our atv tour started 15-20 mins after our time. We were not introduced to our guide. My husband and I had two different people trying to show us how to ride our bikes, but did not tell us that that was what they were doing. So it confused us as to why we kept shifting gears so much. I was told I should probably drive a UTV (I’ve driven multiple atvs and when asked if they were manual or automatic they said automatic) because we shifted gears multiple times in the span of 2 minutes without telling me we were testing out if I could shift gears so it threw me off.

During the ride the guide was nice enough and told me that my husband and I were excellent drivers. He also seemed super overworked for the day so the guide experience was ok.

Great Golf Cart rentals in Tamarindo

We rented a golf Cart from Action Tours - $60 US a day for 2 people. Great service, very friendly staff and the cart held it's charge for the 5 days we had it. Perfect way to get around Tamarindo and up the hill to the Hotel we stayed in. Would recommend this company to anyone going down.

Had such a blast with our guide, Abel! Initially booked the tour for two hours. Ended up extending to three. Ripped around beaches, roads, and towns.

It was also my gf first time on an ATV. Abel did a great job showing how/when to shift gears (semi-automatic). He also led at a pace that was fun but safe for her to ride at, which was also a great speed for me to kick the rear-end loose at the back of the pack.

Also - hit up Playa Mina on your tour. Such an amazing beach.

Great Afternoon of Kayaking!

Kayak tours are scheduled based on the tide. We left the “home base” a little after 12:30pm and met our guide at the put-in location.

Ronney is an experienced guide including for deep sea fishing.

His knowledge if the area and it animal inhabitants is excellent and his sense of humor was a wonderful addition to the adventure.

After an an initial headwind, we paddled through the calm waters of the mangroves. There was a lovely variety of water birds.

We stopped at a partially submerged tree which was inhabited by small crabs with colorful claws.

After paddling a little further, we beached the kayaks and walked up less than 25 yards to see a large family of howler monkeys. They were foraging in the lower branches above our heads and did not seem disturbed by our quiet presence.

They ranged in size from a couple of large males, to a little one learning to forage on its own. There was a mom with a tiny baby, probably less than week old, clinging to her, and a noticeably pregnant one.

What an experience.

On our way back, a bull shark swam passed us.

Night UTV Tour

We did a 3 hour night UTV tour and it was wonderful. We stopped at a couple beaches and drove through the back roads and empty river bed. Our tour guide, Rony, was great- he stopped at local restaurant and we had a delicious dinner. He introduced us to a few local friends and made sure to find us a beer at the beach. Overall it was a great experience!

Dust-choked drive to the beach

Two stars because I’m giving them credit for past tours that went well. But this place has gone downhill. Our last trip with them was anything but an adventure in beautiful Costa Rica. Instead, it was a two-hour drive to the beach. Worst part, we asked for the mountain/jungle tour. They said they had us covered. Then we got a two hour ride down rutted, dusty roads to go to a beach we didn’t want to see for 15 mins, pay for some overpriced drinks, and our guide micromanaged every ounce of joy out of the ride. Not that there was much to begin with, but this guy somehow found a way to find, and kill, even that little bit. At the end of the tour, when we confronted the owner about the bait-and-switch, he essentially shrugged his shoulders and blew us off. Avoid these guys!

The tour was awful. The pictures on their site show you driving on the beach. After 1 1/2 hours driving on pavement and sitting in traffic with the sun beating down on us we got to a beach and they didnt let us drive on it. Told us to take s swim for 20 minutes. When I complained to our guide she said they ate not allowed to. When we got back she sent us videos of a different group by accident all riding on the beach! She straight up lied to us. It was an awful experience. All of us couldnt wait for it to end. Stay away!
