I have never seen such a dramatic difference between low and high tide. Probably 150 yards of beach appears and disappears every day. The water is warm like a tea cup and on the north and south side of the cove there are very nice waves to surf. Tamarindo is first and foremost a surf town and the locals, businesses,... More

Stayed a few days in playa Hermosa: beautiful and quiet. So we decided one day to drive to Tamarindo. Google maps gave us 3 choices, but recommended the highways ( though longer mileage, would be better roads, and a few minutes longer driving time). We already had a week of driving on their west coast and knew how it could... More

My 1st time to Tamarindo, probably my last. There wasn't anything wrong per se, it was just ridiculously overpriced. I was told this used to be a great hideout that many didn't know about. Now that everybody knows about it, there are condos and hotels popping up but the infrastructure hasn't quite kept up. The good: 1. Go to the... More

Can't wait to be back! Clean, friendly beach. Water perfect for boarding and surfing. Feels like bath water. Locals friendly. A bit hounded by vendors but for me it just added to the experience.

This is a nice beach! The surfing is great for beginners. There is a number of vendors who try to get you to make purchases. They were never aggressive and will go away with a " No thank you" I would recomend renting beach chairs!

Great beach day. Boys surfed. We rented chairs and an umbrella. Water was clear and clean. Does not get much better.

Fantastic beach; happening and dynamic.. Hike a bit north or south and you feel like you are alone on a rugged, beautiful beach. Tons of people offering trinkets (incessantly so) and offering drugs (I got offered 'weed /blow bro?' At least 2 times a day --they are polite when you say no--but the same person will ask you all week
