Stay here max 2 nights for the nightlife / surf then head somewhere nicer down the coast. Town is well stocked with a gym, several supermarkets and shopping.

Over the Holidays I spent a total of 4 days in Tamarindo enjoying the beach and city as much as I could. We visited the beach mostly to surf doing a lesson one day and partaking on our own 2 other days. Don’t make the...More

We bought a condo in Tamarindo nine years ago when our four kids were aged 10-20. We intend to retire there soon, but for now we enjoy the warm water, great restaurants, and friendly people at least once per year.

Tamarindo is a beautiful, safe and friendly beach. It's busy near the town with beachfront restaurants, shops and all kinds of activities. It's quieter and much less crowded on the south end. There's lots of surfing, larger waves and more experienced surfers on the north...More

Extremely gorgeous beach with a lot going on. High season is expected to be busy but still worth the visit! Rent a couple chairs and an umbrella you won’t regret it. Pipa’s (baby coconuts) were refreshing to purchase from a mobile vendor. Definitely a great...More

This beach is along the Tamarindo main street where many restaurants and hotels have a beach front set-up. Water temperature is warm and perfect. Many areas with smaller waves where you can enjoy the ocean with your kids. Lots of wildlife and birds. Restaurants and...More

I was at the beach everyday. In the day you can play in the water or on the sand. In the evenings you can enjoy dinner at various restaurants on the beach. Some even have music and or fire dancers performing nightly.

Beautiful beach with great surf. My wife was a little apprehensive about the potential for undertow but we felt safe the entire time and enjoyed the surf every day. Vendors were plentiful but respectful. Chairs and umbrellas were relatively cheap as well and definately needed.

Soft white sand. Clear beautiful water. Great waves to body surf on--and surf board as well. We saw lots of surfers out there, both learners and advanced. When the tide is out, there are pockets in the sand where water collects; thus creating little hot...More

We stayed at Villa Verde II in Tamarindo. It's a 10 minute walk to the beach and close to downtown.
