Again another vote that this should be a MUCH higher rating than it is!
We have traveled the world and done many exciting, fun and unusual things and i can honestly say this is one of the best things i have ever done!!!!... It was definitely the best thing we done in Costa Rica. Firstly not enough people know about this attraction... it was not advertised in Tamarindo at all so i am soooo lucky i found it on tripadvisor before i went. Guido replied to my emails always as soon as he received them and although he was busy teaching students to fly the gyrocopters the week we were there he agreed to send a pilot out just for us. I booked this as a surprise for my boyfriends birthday, we have never seen a gyrocopter before so we didnt even know it existed! He was very impressed when we got to Tamarindo airport and he see what we were doing. We each had a 20min round trip around Tamarindo and although we saw so much including Turtles swimming in the sea, eagle rays, sting rays, many different and beautiful beaches, the whole town... it was just not long enough... I so wish we had longer! Our Pilot was brilliant, he was ready and waiting and gave us a brief of the copter before we flew. While in the air he pointed out so many things, even getting really low and circling in the air so he could make sure i saw the things he was pointing out, all this while constantly checking i was ok (as i was very nervous! I cannot recommend this tour enough!... Please honestly do it as you will not be disappointed! I will 110% do it again if i ever get the chance! Thank you so much for all your help Guido, really appreciate it.

Think of the most wonderful thing that you’ve ever done in your entire life... Going up in a gyroplane with Fly with Us (aka Ultralight Tours) is better. Maybe much better.

Moreover, for less than the cost of a one-hour joy-ride with you in the passenger seat, you can sit up front in the pilot’s seat (as I did, right from the start) and fly the aircraft for an hour yourself with one of the instructors behind you. The instructor will use the flight controls in the passenger compartment to intervene when necessary. No worries.

By the way, the instructors are veritable flying aces who would put the Red Baron to shame, each with thousands of hours of flight time as commercial airline pilots.

Figuring among this outfit’s recent students is Arild Vegrim, whose impressive show during the opening gyroplane event at the World Air Games in Dubai in early December of 2015 immediately put him in third place. Arild trained with Frank while I was there, and Frank was also my instructor, even though I’m just a beginner. Guido was my other instructor. He too can walk on water.

This attraction alone justifies a trip to Costa Rica. For one thing, the views 1,000 feet up are straight out of Spielberg’s “Jurassic Park” – a sight-seeing extravaganza better than any other, guaranteed to please anyone.

True Enlightenment can be reached on Earth: go to Sámara, Costa Rica and ask to fly in a gyro with Frank, Guido, Jörg, Roshan or Victor.

P.S. I have so far had 49 hours of instruction with Fly with Us (Ultralight Tours), and always in an Autogyro MTOsport. Autogyro is said to make the best gyroplanes.

Since this attraction is located in Sámara’s hinterland, here are some GPS coordinates that may be of help:

Fly with Us (Ultralight Tours, Flying Crocodile flying center, Sámara Airpark, ICAO airport code MRMR), 9.903022, -85.549424 (9.903022N, 85.549424W).

Hotel Flying Crocodile, which is affiliated and nearby, and is where I stayed in November the entire time (14 days in total), 9.884388, -85.566003 (9.884388N, 85.566003W). The hotel is quite nice. I also stayed there in July of 2012 and in July of 2015.

Perfect experience! I flew several hours with my pilot Roshan in bright sunshine and even light rain. These bizarre-looking flying machines and their open cockpits and exposed engines give you an early-aviator feeling as you skim the waves and buzz the surfers.

It doesn't hurt, of course, that Costa Rica's coastline, beaches and jungle are so perfect and that you can see so much detail at the ridiculously low altitudes.

Nor does it hurt that Guido (owner) is good at adding unexpected add-ons. Mine included swamp-wading and hanging-bridge crossing.

As for safety, I was appreciative of the German engineering.

I think I'm going to make the trip from Canada again to do some more gyrocoptering with Guido and to stay for a little longer at the affiliated and enchanting Flying Crocodile Hotel.

My husband and I booked the autogyro to fly us from Tamarindo to Nosara. It was so incredible! The flight was about 40 minutes and saved us from 4 hours on a bumpy bus. We could only fly one at a time so we each waited at an airport for the other. There wasn't much near either airport, at Tamarindo just a small cafe with water, soda, and chips, and at nosara nothing at the airport and a small restaurant just across the street. But we loved the flight so much we stayed at the flying crocodile hotel a week later so we could fly again with Jorge! We did a one hour flight to Santa Theresa from the runway they have at the hotel. We saw Dolphins, crocodiles, flew right over surfers and schools of fish, and loved every minute of the tour. It is expensive but TOTALLY WORTH THE MONEY! Best thing we have done in Costa Rica yet!

If you like flying, you MUST go up in the amazing Gyro Copter! Even Guido, the pilot for our trip told me that flying this incredible machine re-ignited his passion for flying after many years as a pilot! It is also perfect for anyone with an adventurous spirit!
I live in Costa Rica on the beach in Guanacaste and had seen these craft flying by over many months. I had always wanted to have the experience, and yesterday my girlfriend and I went for solo rides. It was WAY past my expectations! Very stable in wind, the craft allowed me to see things from the air I drive by every day.
Lisa saw wildlife and turtles, fish, and I flew the beach over surfers and saw my house from the air. I will definitely repeat the ride!!

This was so fun. We live in Potrero so Andy, the pilot, flew me from Tamarindo to Potrero and then circled around our place. My husband was on the ground taking pictures of us while I was up above taking pictures of him! Andy is great about pointing out the towns and beach names because even though I live here, it's easy to get turned around in the air. It's safe, not scary at all. I highly recommend doing this for a perfect view of the area!

For anyone it is a great and authentic experience.

For pilots, be it CPL or PPL, FW, SE or ME. VFR and or IFR it is really going back to your roots of why you wanted to fly in the first place when you where younger.

Open, free and lowflying.

For aspirant pilots this posses a problem. Once you have done this there is no turning back.

The exilaration of the ride and the beauty of the scenery below made it one of the most memorable parts of my vacation! I took the ride at sunset which I recommend for some beautiful photos.

Andy, the pilot was extremely professional and put at ease any fears or jitters I might have had about flying in the gyrocopter. With his expertise I knew I was in good hands. The landing and take off were smoother than a commercial flight!

It's an experience not to miss if you are going to the area - one of the most memorable parts of my trip!

I really enjoyed the flight.Being a commercial helicopter pilot myself I have a tendency to be a skeptic on gyro copters but this was a first class very professional operation. They allowed me to closely look at all the equipment and answered all questions correctly and professionally. I would trust them with my family.
Andy, the pilot was extremely knowledgeable and polite. A true professional!
All this plus a beautiful flight in the paridise of Costa Rica!
I recommend this experience as a must on your trip to Costa Rica!
