We ordered surf trips/guiding, but we had lessons on nearest beach break. Lessons schedule was known for 5 day in advance, does not depednded of swell/wind/tide. We had lesson at midday on low tide at Tamarindo beach, there was windy and no waves at all. Fast check MSW says "Best Tide - Mid to High Tide". Looks like surf instructors... More

Thank you for your review, however, let me clarify a couple of things: You had booked a package with surf lessons, not surf trips. We planned in your lessons with our instructor who has over 20 years experience surfing Tamarindo and nearby beaches. Surf forecasts sites do not always give a very good forecasts, due to the lack of reliable... More

Great hostel right across the street from the beach. Has a large selection of good surfboards at reasonable rental rates. A young group of clients but despite this it is realatively quiet in the evening after 1000pm. It is very basic but clean and well kept and a great place to go if you want to learn to surf. The... Despite having a really great surf lesson, there were some severe drawbacks. 1. The gentlemen who greeted me couldn't find my reservation and didn't know what was going on since he hadn't been there in a few days. He just said I could wait in the common area and wasn't super helpful. 2. My instructor was 30 minutes (seriously) late... More

Tamarindo has lots of surf shops but Blue Trailz is the best! We always rent boards and boogies from them, and their surf instructors are really fine. Check them out if you want a quality experience!

If you're travelling on a budget, this is probably one of the better hostels in Tamarindo. You can't beat the location! Right on the beach. The rooms are very clean and there's a nice common area. The place is well secured and the rooms also have lockers. The bus stop just in-front of the hostel, which is also nice and convenient.... More

When in Tamarindo let go surfing ... there are lot of schools there but this one is really good. People and teachers are friendly and available to good private or group lessons. We were there twice for my son. First time was a group lesson but there were only 3. Second time it was a private lesson. Prices are less... More

After having a fairly disappointing lesson with Tamarindo Surf School the previous day, my friend and I popped into Blue Trailz after reading their great TripAdvisor reviews. We heard from our neighbors at our hotel that Kurt was an amazing instructor and Kunz (not sure if that's how you spell his name) was super helpful in setting up a semi-private... More

2 hours and $45 later I feel much more confident with my surfing abilities. Kurt loves what he does and is really helpful in teaching you about every aspect of surfing. He was caters the lesson to each persons abilities and even though my time slot was shared with 2 slightly more advanced surfers he spread his time evenly between... More

We have done some lessons with Kurt from Blue Trailz Surf School and he has been great. We also did lessons through him when my parents were in town (they are 55) and they loved it. Kurt is great for local knowledge and will help you out with anything you need even if it is not surfing related. Book Kurt... More
