What a great day out on the water from Tamarindo. I set up our 3/4 day trip with Jon and he was able to accommodate our group of 8 which had a last minute addition. Our Captain Frank and Mate Mario were friendly and took care of everything. With a mix of experienced and novices fishing we could not have asked for better results. We landed a Mahi, four Sailfish, and a Marlin! We also had the good fortune to witness a Superpod of dolphins. They put on a show for about an hour. The boat had plenty of food and refreshments for our day. We would highly recommend CR Fishing Charters for your trip.

I highly recommend this charter service. Pricing is transparent and there are no games, what you read on their website is what you get. Booking and making a deposit were easy. You’ll meet Jon (not sure if he’s the owner, but he seemed to be running the show) on the beach in front of restaurant El Chiringuito, pay him the remaining balance in cash (dollars) and off you go. Tip: there is no dock so wear shoes you’re okay getting wet, as you’ll be taking a panga from the beach to the boat you booked. Also, launching the panga can be an adventure if the waves aren’t cooperating so be prepared to get a little wet. In other words, put your phone away and be mindful of anything on you that you don’t want to get wet. Our guide Coto was super cool despite the slow fishing day. He never stopped working to put us on the fish and it paid off with a very nice Yellowfin Tuna. Another nice touch is the complimentary beer, soda and water on board.

We actually visited in September of 2018. Had an absolutely amazing trip with these guys. Would highly recommend using them for your deep sea fishing excursion. Jimmy and Alex were great on the boat. Arrangements for the day were incredibly easy and communication was clear. Definitely an unforgettable trip. It was a slow morning, but jimmy and Alex did everything they could to help us catch something, and in the end we snagged a giant marlin.
Deep sea fishing had been on my bucket list for a long time, and these guys did not disappoint.

My family of four booked a half day inland fishing charter on Christmas morning. Capt. Francisco we there with the dink ready to pick us up on time. Boat was well stocked with snacks, soda, water and beer. Once out of the protected area, Francisco wasted no time getting us rigged and bait out. He was very helpful and gave excellent instructions on how to get the fish in with out losing it. Trolling was not producing so he put us on fish with a gig. He did not disappoint, we hooked about a 7 lbs red snapper in no time. Hooked a huge jack tuna, I just could not get him in the boat before he spit it out. By the end of our half day we had a 7lb red snapper, 15lb red snapper (a record for me) beautiful tuna and a 5lb wahoo. Francisco cleaned and prepped our fish and even delivering the big snapper to Walters for our dinner.
If you are looking for a luxury cruse, this is not you guy. If you want to put fish in the boat, Capt Francisco is your man. We will be back!

Admittedly, I am not an avid fisherman. My husband loves deep sea fishing and his enthusiasm rubbed off on me. We booked a full day charter, had mahi mahi brought in within the first hour of trolling. The deckhand and Capitan helped to show me the ropes, so before long, I was bringing in my own yellow fin tuna and mahi mahi. Our final count was 6 mahi mahi and 8 tunas, but who's counting? 😉
At one point, we were in a pod of hundreds of wild dolphins, bringing in two tuna at a time. The fish were cleaned on the spot and the boat stayed spotless between cleanings.
A marlin got away from us, but that's small potatoes compared to the memories we made.
Make sure to pack sunscreen, have a nice full belly, and stay hydrated. We were out on a relatively calm day, but you've gotta work to earn those sea legs!
Definitely make it a point to spend a day on the water with these guys, you won't regret it! 🎣🐟

This was the best half-day fishing trip I’ve ever been on. Six Mahi-mahi one the boat (including the monster son landed); six more plus a sailfish released. Twice we had 3 fish on at once.

Booked 3 full day charters last week (Wednesday, Thursday, & Saturday). All 3 days were amazing. Capt. Alex put us on the fish every day and never stopped hunting all day long. The crew on deck (David and Luis) treated us like family. They never stopped working and always made sure we were trying new methods if things got a little slow. Over the 3 days we ended up with 5 Yellowfin Tuna, 2 Mahi Mahi, 2 Sailfish, and 2 Blue Marlin. We also had several other billfish and wahoo strikes that never hooked up - can’t win em all! Not only was the fishing great, but the captain/crew/boat made this one of the most enjoyable and fun fishing experiences of our lives.
We look forward to a return visit to fish with Alex/David/Luis!

Our captain Alex and first mate, Chalupa, knew exactly what they were doing and where to take us. I chartered the Cabo Express for my boyfriend for Father’s Day and we brought his adult daughter and teenage son along for a day of family fun hoping to catch a fish or two. After going about 20 miles out to sea and dropping the lines, I decided to get violently sea sick!!
Luckily, Alex and Chalupa were happy to take the rest of the crew back out after dropping my defeated and lame a** back off at shore and they all headed back out. They ended up catching a 200 lb Marlin!! What a day and everyone came back ecstatic (and exhausted) from catching the big kahuna.
Jon (the owner ?) was super professional and responsive from first contact and made payment really easy. I had offered to pay Jon for the extra hour or so they were out but he never charged me. Would absolutely recommend CR Fishing Charter!!

We booked a 3/4 day fishing trip on the Runaway are loved the entire experience! The crew, led by Nesmer, worked incredibly hard to get us on fish. They warned the fishing had been slow due to the colder waters, and that's fishing!!! We hauled in a nice Yellow Fin Tuna and a large Wahoo that took my son 9 min to reel in, what a fight! We also lost a sail fish and another tuna, oh well! But more than fishing, the Runway boat was set up very nice and the crew provided drinks, snacks, fresh pineapple, wonderful sashimi, and a terrific lunch. We were also surrounded by dolphins, which was very cool to see jumping and spinning through the air. Sure we would have liked more fish, but the experience was amazing and I will book again with Runaway when we visit Tamarindo. Thanks for providing such a great experience!!!

I was on a chartered trip with 7 of my buddies and we were told that morning we were going to be fishing for Mahi Mahi, and boy did we find some! Huge swells that day (woke up to some stormy looking skies) and some of us got sea sick (but hey, that's all part of the adventure, right??)
Once we found our honey hole after a slow start, 4/8 of us caught beautiful Mahi Mahi! We really had a great time! The captain, David I believe was his name, and his guy Carlos, who was on the fishing deck with us all day and worked SO hard to help us hook some great fish! Definitely an experience that I will never forget! I recommend these guys. Only downside to the day was losing some of the electrical onboard and the toilet didn't work ... but all things aside, it was a great trip!
