Nope. All the incense and soothing music in the world couldn't change the overall vibe of this place. I was uncomfortable and felt very out of place. Yes there were many things for purchase but nothing you couldn't find online or anywhere else. It felt like a place for people of all ages to flock to so they could hangout, drink and maybe do a little drugs..... Would definitely not recommend for anyone with kids.

Waste of time! As we walked up the street and passed people leaving with empty hands, we should have turned around then. No organization to the set up causing a cluster of traffic jams. Feels like someone put up some table of Amazon cheap jewelry, bars of soap, tapped a keg and slapped a market sticker on the front sign and called it good.

we had a great time in tamarindo for three weeks in February. We stayed in a condo walking distance to the beach. My husband and I walk the beach every morning for five or 6 miles and we came down for beach sunsets. I also had massages on the beach. We did not spend time during the day on the beach because it was so windy. We were lucky and had a beautiful pool at our condo. It was extremely hot in the afternoon 95° every day add always sunshine.

The night market was fun on Thursday nights. Lots of great restaurants in Tamarindo loved Pangus Beach Club, Dragonfly and L' Estanco El Jardin Escondido exceptionally good restaurants.. but you do need a reservation.
We love Tamarindo for a one time visit and enjoyed our three weeks there. A little more busy than we wanted for future visits but perfect for us and family visiting.

We discovered this night market was open while we were in Tamarindo for the day and were so happy we went. We were a group of six people, 20s to 65 years-old and we all loved it because it offered something special for our diverse group. Some of our group are vegetarians and vegans, and we all found such delicious food here, including amazing falafel and arepas. The sights, sounds, and tastes were wonderful. And most of us bought gifts here. In particular, I loved that everything we saw was handcrafted locally, which is why this is a special market. Highly recommend!

I had been following this market on Instagram for some time, the pictures of the food and goods are gorgeous. We went during our visit and were not disappointed. All kinds of great food, we had empanadas, pork sandwiches and pizza as well as Nutella donuts and lime cheesecake for dessert. All 5 of us (adults and teens) enjoyed the scene, music and friendly vendors.

Everyone was talking about great this was and we planned our day around it since it's only held on Thursdays. The pictures are incredibly deceiving! It was so crowded and I could barely move. The food and products being sold weren't anything unique, you can get them in town. Way too touristy! And yes, the other reports are true...you walk up this dirt road for about 1/2 mile. Seriously, not worth the trek!

Disappointing is how I feel about the Tamarindo night market.
Perhaps I set my expectations too high. I was expecting a local market with Costa Rican vendors and customers. I was expecting local products and everyday items for sale. To see how the locals interact etc.
Instead it was mainly overpriced tourist souvenirs and Venezuelan food.
It was also a very small venue. We spent more time walking to the market than it took to walk through it visiting all the stalls.
I won't advise scheduling your trip around the market. At least not in its current state.

We only stayed in Tamarindo but did take some day trips. Tamarindo is a very cosmopolitan little town. Lots of good restaurants of different nationalities. The beaches were beautiful and everything is walkable. The best tour guide experience we had was with Blue Crab Water Advenures and Tours. They were very flexible and accomodating, where a lot of other tours are preset with no changing from the schedule. Paul was our guide and it helped immensely that he is from Boston which made communication a breeze, and he is very knowledgeable about everything Costa Rica.

Visited with family in hopes of getting some good food. There wasn’t a lot to choose from, there were swarms of flies landing on the food being cooked and there was no place to sit and eat it. We left and walked to El Mercadito. More food choices and much more comfortable tables and environment to enjoy it. Prices were on the high side.

Many stands and local artisans. I loved that variety. What I didn't like was, it does get quite crowded. If you go too early, everyone else had the same thought. If you go late, they are out of most things. It is truly worth the experience though. I would recommend going to the night market in Playa Grande.
