It was a very nice trip with helpful and motivated Guids. We had fishing at good spots. The Highlights was a 5kg Barracuda, Tunes and a 80kg Selfish.

Wow! Fabulous fishing with Captain Frank, in Samara, Costa Rica. And first mate Olman. These guys are passionate about their fishing and are determined to catch fish for you. They make it fun and they work very hard to make sure you catch what you want. In our case (husband and wife), we wanted Mahi-mahi. We went fishing with Captain Frank in January 2020 and also an earlier trip in November 2019. Awesome. They arrange transport to and from your hotel. Then a skillful water taxi from the beach to the boat. Then hours in pure heaven. Fishing. Sun. Laughter. Munchies. Beer. Water. Sodas. All included and provided. Expert fishing. We have been out with these guys a number of times and each time they make it an experience to remember. We are what I think they call inshore fishing, so around 1 to 3 kilometres out from the beach. (These guys also do serious sports fishing too, if you prefer sailfish, but we like to fish for what we can eat.) And we have always caught fish with these guys. Mahi-mahi, Wahoo, Goliath Grouper, grouper, yellow fun tuna and other edible fish. Once a Rooster fish. Not edible. But gorgeous. (Think of bringing in a Large struggling plate.) And we often see interesting sea life like dolphins, turtles, manta rays and sometimes even whales passing through. These guys know how to expertly catch the fish for us, then give us the rod to bring the fish in. Mahi-mahi is a super fish to bring in. I am a 67 year old female, 5’2”and weigh 125 pounds. And I have fun bringing the large Mahi-mahi in, with some advice and lots of encouragement from Captain Frank. And Olman gaffes the fish once I bring it close to the boat. Olman always gaffes the fish on first approach!! Yay!! And what a beautiful fish! All green sparkles. And it is a superb eating fish. As are the Wahoo and grouper. Best eating fish for me from these waters is yellowfin tuna. But I haven’t been lucky enough to catch one in a few years. Maybe next trip....... If you want to go fishing and have fun in Costa Rica, this is the boat to go out on!!! Pictures from our last two fishing trips (four hour trips each) are attached. Wow. Great eating. Our friends love the fish feasts afterwards.…

What a wonderful day on the water. Morning inshore fishing started a little slow, but Captain Frank aims to please. He found us some spots to jig and we caught grouper, congrio and some rock fish. Learned about ocean fishing in Costa Rica and what can be caught. Happened upon a couple of dolphins as well. Captain Frank has a great setup, good sized clean boat and he and his assistant were more than helpful. We would highly recommend this tour.…
