Our tour with Horsejungle was the highlight of our week in Costa Rica. We did a full day horse riding tour that included three beaches. Melissa was great to communicate with and set up the private tour for the two of us with just a day’s notice. She sent a pin of the location and we were able to get there with no problem using Waze. Our tour guide was Sandra and she was just awesome. She helped us feel comfortable with the horses since one of us had just a little riding experience and the other one hadn’t been riding in years. It was clear that she loves animals, cares about the horses, and loves the region that we were in. She pointed out different animals and plants along our route. We got lucky and saw several large groups of howler monkeys. Sandra did a wonderful job of balancing checking in to see if we were comfortable and allowing us to handle the horses.

The full day tour included three different beaches with a long stop at one of the beaches for a tasty lunch, a swim in the water, and a break for the horses. We took the horses into the water to cool off. We had a funny moment as one of the horses decided to lay down in the sand and roll around.
The horses we were riding clearly knew the area and seemed to enjoy the beaches. They broke into canters on the beach without prompting and we loved letting them run along the water.
Overall, the whole experience was an absolute blast. We highly recommend it as a great way to see the natural wonders of the region and also learn about them from a knowledgeable guide. You get to see so much more than would be possible just on foot or from a car.

During my vacation in Costa Rica I went to Samara where I took the opportunity to do 2 days of horseback riding.
Horses jungle is a small family company run by a passionate Frenchie. The horses are in good shape and pampered by Mélissa. We left in a small group of 5 people. The horses are very calm and the walks are very beautiful between jungle and beach. We had explanations about the fauna and flora, we observed many birds, monkeys, coati… I highly recommend horses jungle if you want to have a good time.

We did the full day tour yesterday with this company and everything exceeded our expectations! We visited multiple beaches and were able to see so many beautiful places on our ride. The jungles are absolutely beautiful. Our guide was amazing! He was so kind and told us information about the sites we were seeing while on our tour. I am typically nervous when riding horses, he was very attentive which calmed my nerves. I told them this ahead of time so they also provided me a very calm, sweet horse. We had break to swim in the ocean then a wonderful lunch at a local restaurant. We then rode to another beautiful beach and on the way back we stopped for fresh coconut water. We did visit during rainy season, they were so kind to plan a path for us so we could still see all the beautiful sites on our tour. I highly suggest using this company. We had a wonderful experience!

We did a 3 hours tour to go to a local very picturesque beach. The journey was breathtaking, going through very different landscapes, and we saw monkeys, crocodiles, all kinds of birds... The guide and owner, Melissa, was super knowledgeable about the animals that we saw.
The horses seemed very well taken care of, and Melissa appears to care a great deal about their well being. She goes to great lengths to make sure they get the best care available here, and asked if we could change our booking so that the horses could get their days off as planned!
A great experience for anyone in Samara!

Was an amazing tour riding horses through the jungle, river and beaches. We even saw a crocodile and got to gallop several times. Celine was a brilliant host, really friendly and welcoming, clearly loves the horses very much. We had never ridden a horse before and Celine made us very comfortable and we felt very safe. Highly recommended

There are many options to do horse riding around playa Sámara, but a very few offer the quality, the fun, and the safety of Horse Jungle. Melissa, as a certified horse guide, made this moment with my 4 years old son an amazing, unforgettable experience. She is experienced, super welcoming, in love with her horses, and knowledgeable of everything that happen to the wild life around us. The only negative point of all this is that now my son want a horse in Costa Rica... definitely the place to go for horse riding !

My family of 5 (3 college kids and parents) enjoyed this ride. We did the "White Sand Beach Tour". 3 of us were experienced riders and 2 were not. Our guide was "Colleen" and she did a good job of pointing out wildlife (monkeys, birds, alligators) and making the ride suitable for all level riders. I'm a veterinarian, and I thought the horses were in good condition. The beach ride was a little short, but to be fair we were there at high tide and the beach was narrow (so schedule this ride at low tide) If I had any complaint it would be that a good portion of the ride was along roads - but that was necessary to get to the beach, I guess. They do have saddle bags for you to put camaras, water bottles, etc in.

Thank you, Katherine, for taking the time for your note. We are delighted that you all had a great time and learned a lot about wildlife. I gave you a choice between a morning or afternoon departure and you asked me for the afternoon. The tide was coming in. But we were able to enjoy this beautiful beach where we even galloped for everyone's pleasure! For information, we pass aproximatly 30 minutes at the beach and we made a break to get ouf, take a picture and eat a snack. Barigona beach is very beautiful in all circumstances :)

We booked the 4hr tour which included the jungle and 2 beaches. Our horses were so sweet and gentle. They are taken such good care of by Melissa and her team. My friend and I said that is was one of our best experiences in Costa Rica and would have done it again if we had time. The views were stunning, Melissa and Marine, were so nice and helpful. They made an effort to point out other animals and sights along the way. It is cash only just fyi. Highly recommend the Horse Jungle!!

Rode in the back of a dirty truck bed since there wasnt enough room inside the truck for 5 people. Horses have bald areas and scabs under saddle due to poorly fitting saddles. Baby powder is put under the saddle to decrease friction and moisture since the saddles dont fit properly. While the horse was in full gallop, our daughter fell off. Firmly believe her saddle did not fit the horse properly. Guide was pleasant however she lacks experience with horses. She has only been working with horses for 8 months. I would not recommend this company dueto safety concerns and the condition of some of the horses.

Hello Marie We would like to react to your comment, which is really strong, UNTRUE and hurts me personally. Especially since you let it seem like you enjoyed the ride all along, and you thanked Lisa very much for it when you returned to the ranch. Categorizing the walk as "horrible" therefore seems to me to be in total contradiction with what you said during the morning. I will let you read the 250 or so opinions that say exactly the opposite of what you say. Horses are more than WELL TREATED and PAMPERED at horsejungle. And we are proud of it because it is a lot of work and investment, but they deserve it! Dentist, osteopathy, healthy food and fresh water daily, anti-parasite treatment, anti-dermatitis treatment, vaccines, adapted iron, adapted equipment.... these are the proofs that horses are very well treated: much better than in any others ranchs. Our horses live in herds outdoors. It is therefore inevitable that they scratch and injure themselves while playing and communicating with their park's friends! But we think it is better to have horses that are well in their heads, with a few injuries, when they are due to living conditions that are as close as possible to those they have in nature. You can choose to ride club horses that live indoors. But that's not my philosophy. As for the saddles, they are chosen and adapted to the horses from here. They were approved by our saddle fiter who came from France to review and give her opinion. Are you professional to suggest that the material chosen is not the right one? Excuse me for doubting They are chosen first and foremost for the safety of the client, then according to the morphology of the horse and its comfort. We also adapt the mats, because here in the other ranches it is customary to put layers and thicknesses to hide the harness injuries, but we prefer to do otherwise and think about adapting for each horse his personal matters. When we buy our horses, it is important to know that most of them already suffered from serious injuries to the harness. We make sure to heal these wounds, then we do everything we can to find the right equipment so that the wounds don't reopen! So we have various tricks, such as talcum powder, carpet cutting, a mixture of vegetable oil and essential oil, among others... We also have horses that have other problems, such as skin problems or problems related to humidity in Costa Rica. We are aware of this, and we do not close our eyes to it = we provide them with the necessary daily care! These are normal things in horses, like any other living thing. Most of those small problems do not prevent horses from being ridden. If there is a large wound, the horses are obviously resting throughout their recovery. Regarding Lisa your guide, I think you misunderstood. Lisa has been a guide in Costa Rica for 8 months. But she had her first horse at the age of 3 and has always lived surrounded by horses because everyone in her family is a rider and owns horses at home. Lisa knows horses perfectly well and knows her job perfectly aswell. To say that Lisa lacks experience is a LIE! Your daughter's fall is not related to the equipment, but results from a loss of balance on her part when she dropped the saddle knob when she wanted to stop. Indeed, before galloping, we always inform people that they must hold on to the saddle for greater safety. Everything went very well at first, but then she was destabilized when she wanted to slow down and stop, letting go of the knob. The horse did nothing more than what his rider had asked him to do. Regalo is extremely gentle and docile. He hasn't moved, neither has the saddle, but some people may be less balanced than others. Concerning the pickup, there is plenty of room for everyone. We have 4 seats available. I would like to remind you that we have given you the choice of getting in the back or inside the car. It was your daughters who wanted to experience the Costa Rican adventure and ride in the back. Apparently for their greatest pleasure, since they took videos to immortalize the adventure. So how can you blame us today for trying to please you? All you had to do was tell us that you would prefer to be placed inside the vehicle. Of course, you always have the choice to refuse the service we offer FREE of charge and to take a taxi. Wishing you all the best for the future, HorseJungle

I fully understand that horseback riding needs to be conducted safely and with consideration for all riders but to plod down dusty roads for 3 hours on end is not the activity most riders signed up for. A mother brought her 6 year old for his first time on a horse and 8 of us followed behind, chatted with each other and occasionally looked up and yet another monkey sitting in a tree. We went to a beautiful secluded beach and walked for 100 yards in ankle deep water. If you go, make sure you bring something to drink. It's hot, dusty, and the guides don't care enough to have a saddle bag with drinks available. Finally, we were told to not get off the horses during our stop by the beach. 3 full hours, in the saddle with no break. Miss this one if you can.

NEW OWNER It with pleasure I inform our customers about our new concept : 1- The group are limited at 5 people maximum (except if requested) the guide has to be able to communicate with the all group about Costa rica's wild life and plants. 2- Water and snack is now systematiclly offered on the beach. All our horses are fitted with pockets, so everyone can bring whatever he wants. 3- People can have experience can have a galop on the beach (only if the guide give his agreement also). 4- Barigona tour can be dusty sometime during the year (since February to Avril). For a better experience, I advise you to do the Buena Vista Tour : 100% Nature and no road at.
