My wife & I did 2 tours with Mardigi ~ Monteverde Hanging Bridges and Coffee Tour, and Hiking Rincón National Park. Cris was our guide for both tours and we couldn't be more satisfied! Cris is an extremely knowledgeable naturalist. On both tours he added value to our experience by bringing his own telescope which allowed us to get a close up view of unique birds of the region such as Quetzal, Toucan, Hummingbirds and more. In addition, he knows his monkeys and showed us troops of spider and white-faced monkeys. On the drive out on both tours he shared the rich history, culture, gastronomy, and microclimates of Costa Rica. The pace of the tour was manageable, difficulty level was accurately described in the brochure, and the meals were delicious. This was a great value and with Cris as our guide we came away with a deeper understanding and appreciation for the country.

I had the pleasure of arranging multiple tours with Mardigi Tours we had our first trip with an amazing tour guide Edwardo.
He is such an amazing person, so knowledgeable about the Costa Rican history and nature, we had quite an entertaining car ride from the hotel to the tour ground and back to the hotel.
Very friendly and sure that we are receiving the best service among the locals and also was very helpful in many other way throughout our trip, very accommodating.
We still have a lot of other tours to go through with mardigi tours however he has set the bar very high.
I would definitely recommend utilizing mardigi tours and my friend Eduardo for any future tours with the company.

During our stay at the Papagayo Peninsula, we took a tour of Rincon De La Vieja Volcanic Park with Mardigi Tours.
Gerardo our tour guide and driver was absolutely delightful and incredibly patient with answering our questions. He stopped on the way near a bridge so that we can spot some crocodiles. He then took us to the main visitor center where we got our tickets and ordered our lunch (which would be ready by the time we returned from our hike).
The hike was unlike anything we’ve done before. Besides seeing monkeys, butterflies and waterfalls, we saw evidence of geothermal activity including boiling mud pools. It was about a 3 mile hike with lots of steps, ups and downs. Gerardo went at the perfect pace so that we could enjoy the flora and fauna of the forest.
We then went to a waterfall where we could swim in the cold water. After the hike, this was a refreshing break. The bridge to get to the waterfall is an experience unto itself. I would recommend bringing water shoes so that you won’t feel the stones poking your feet while you walk in the waterfall.
After we dried off, we went back to the visitor center and had lunch. Gerardo joined us and we loved hearing about his family and his life.
Next after lunch, we drove to a hot springs. It was an incredible experience. They have several “Stations” - you get to first sit in the hot spring, next you move onto the next station that has warm mud in bowls. Once you apply the mud on yourself, you sit around and wait for it to dry. Then you have the option of either rinsing it off in the cold river or under an outdoor shower. And then you finish off with another station which has another hot spring with water comprising of different minerals. The weather was cloudy and drizzly so it made it easy to sit in the hot springs.
Gerardo waited or us patiently until we were done and never once rushed us for time. So we were able to enjoy the whole day at a relaxed pace without feeling rushed.
Gerardo also brought plenty of water and towels for our group.
Overall we really enjoyed Gerardo and Mardigi Tours and would not hesitate to recommend them to everyone.

We had the most amazing time with our "Hiking Rincon National Park" tour with Christian (Chris). We stayed at the andaz hotel in Papaguayo and they had a packet full of different tours with Mardigi.
Note that all the options we were looking at were for PRIVATE (not for large groups of people you don't know). We booked the hiking tour which included a day hike at Rincon de la Vieja volcano, hot springs, volcanic mud, a waterfall hike and a delicious Costa rican meal at the local town nearby.
Chris knew everything about the plants, trees and animal species and we were able to get tons of quality photos, saw dozens of white faced monkeys, gorgeous birds, including a pair of tucans! Interestingly, Chris knows all the bird's voices so without him, we wouldn't have seen the tucans but as we were hiking, he heard their call and rushed us to the area and about 1 minute later, there were the tucans!
The waterfall is gorgeous, but quite chilly! I chickened out into going into the water, but my partner swam in and I got good photos :)
The mud baths were super fun! We're done a similar experience in New Zealand at Taupo and the ones here that Chris took us too near the volcano was night and day better! Multiple pools, tons of mud, next to the river where you can rinse off (or use showers), it was a lot of fun!
It was $215 per person and Chris picked us up from our hotel promptly at 8am and we returned back shortly after 4pm - it was a fun filled day!

This was second time using Mardigi Tours (2014, 2022) and they did not disappoint. We used them for 4 tours and every driver was friendly and courteous. They also promptly picked us up at the Hotel Riu Guanacaste. All bookings were made directing with Mardigi using text and emails. We contacted Mardigi months before our trip to Costa Rica to look at all the different tour options. Would recommend them to anyone looking for a great experience.

Just got back from spending a week in with 4 friends. This was my third trip there and each time, we have used Mardigi Tours. They were awesome from the time they picked us up from the airport in Liberia until they dropped us off. On the way to our resort, they stopped off at a grocery store so that we could stock up on drinks and snacks for our room. We discussed the tours that we wanted to do during our stay, and they did the rest. Mark was great on our trips to the Buena Vista Adventure Park and the Monte Verde Cloud Forest. He was very knowledgeable about the wildlife and even rode the zip lines with us so that he could take pictures. Marvin was amazing on the Beach Tour. We spent the day going to several different beaches including some of the less touristy ones. Every time we’ve visited, it has always been Marvin, Digi, or Mark giving us our tour and they have never disappointed. I highly recommend Mardigi Tours if your are looking for a great tour company on your next trip to Costa Rica. If you would like to contact them to them to see what they have to offer, just email them at info@mardigitours.com.

From the moment we were met by our tour guide, Tijiana we knew the day was going to be a great adventure. She greeted us with a warm and welcoming smile and made us feel very comfortable and safe. As we were driving in the spotless van we were given a tour of their beautiful country that she was so proud of, and rightfully so. Tijiana escorted us to the Congo trail where we did all the zip lines, which is an experience that we will carry with us forever. While that was wonderful, what was even more spectacular was seeing and hearing about the country. The best treat was seeing the most beautiful sunset we had ever seen at the end of our perfect day. Words cannot express how grateful we are.

We can’t say enough good things about Jesus, our energetic and friendly 19 year old tour guide, and his uncle who was our private driver. They customized our experience to accommodate my 79 year old mother with somewhat limited mobility, while not comprising any of the adventure for my 24 yr old, my husband and me. From the get go, Jesus was informative and helpful and attentive. His English is excellent. We felt pampered all day, especially while relaxing in the hot springs and having snacks and drinks brought to us. We loved the Zipline experience- great views and be sure not to skip the Tarzan jump!! While we were off zip lining, Jesus took Mom for a private walk on the hanging bridges, holding her arm the entire time to make sure she felt secure. We decided to skip the water slide and instead had time to hike into a breathtaking waterfall. So, the Uncle took Mom over to the hot springs to enjoy herself until we met up with her. The Cultural center provided a cool opportunity to learn about sugar cane processing and production of alcohol and sweet treats as well as coffee, including tastings. It was neat to meet a local artisan and watch him create pottery which was for sale. Our private lunch was also delicious!! Our every need was attended to. Definitely worth the minimal per person price increase ($175 instead of $130). We definitely recommend Mardigi Tours wholeheartedly.

Our experience with Mardigi Tours was incredible. We booked a private tour of El Viejo hacienda and a riverboat expedition. Eduardo arrived on time to pick us up from our hotel. He was very friendly and lots of fun. We were thrilled to learn that he is a biologist and extremely knowledgeable about the plants and animals in the area. There wasn't a question he couldn't answer. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for an exciting day of local nature and culture! Don't forget to ask for Eduardo

We just came back from our Costa Rica tour and we booked three tours with Mardigi tours: buena Vista, coffee+ water fall + rescue centre, palo Verde river tour. The booking process was seamless through WhatsApp and the lady was very helpful and flexible with all kinds of customization and adjustments to accomodate our family, which includes two young kids (one 4 year old and one 7 months). We were lucky to have the same tour guide Mark Watson for all three trips. Mark was so nice, funny, knowledgeable and passionate. He is also so good with kids. During the coffee tour, my 4 year old was bored at the presentation part and Mark magically found some pencils and a book and was coloring together with him so hubby and I can enjoy our time at the tour. My 4 year old loves him and said he already missed him! Will definitely use Mardigi tour again when we visit Costa Rica again!

Are there toucans in Palo Verde National Park, or are they most likely to be in the rain forest? We're trying to decide which tour to book and would really like to see them. Thanks in advance.

Saw several along the way on our tour. They are the easiest to see with the untrained eye, so a good guide is important and the two different guides I had on Mardigi tours definitely had keen eyes, and very informed

As far as the Mardigi Tours in Costa Rica are concerned-are you saying not to use that service? If so, how did you find the information for the tours you wanted to take? Thank you-We will be staying at Villas Sol and have been told they are very over priced in planning day trips etc. Sandy

Mardigi Tours are the best. They are very reasonably prices and the services are fantastic. We stayed at the Condovac Resort in Playa Hermosa. Book right there at the resort.

What are the prices for the hot spring and mud bath?

The hot springs and mud bath aren’t what you may be expecting. The mud was heated on a gas stove and the water was pumped into a large pool after being heated. You’re not actually visiting a hot Spring or hog mud pool, but you’ll be paying for it as if you were.

We are 4 older women who would like the standard tour of Nicaragua if it fits in our budget. Could you please discuss standard cost or any ideas you might have for a better Nicaragua trip that we could consider?

We did this tour 4 years ago with Mardigi Tours, wife, 3 teenagers and myself. Awesome to see the old city and architecture and did a boat trip on Lake Nicaragua and saw the little private islands. Good trip with lots of downtime but then lots of walking around the city, Marvin knew everything about the city and we had a good time.
