This is a wonderful beach to hit up with a cooler filled with drinks and nibbles. Not a lot of places to eat off the beach like in Tamarindo. The ocean here is a little calmer with fewer reefs and rocks so it makes for...More
We spent the day on this gorgeous beach, swimming in the ocean waters, jumping waves as the Papagau winds sent huge rollers crashing on the beach.
We sipped margaritas at Margaritaville restaurant close by. All fun in the sun. Some shade from shoreline trees kept...More
The Playa Flamingo area is beautiful from the higher elevations...the sunsets were amazing. This area is much more laid back than the neighboring Tamarindo. However, it is a short drive if you need or desire a more social and active environment.

Take a drive down to Tamarindo. It's a fun surfer town with lots of little shops and beachside restaurants. There are several nice beaches along the coast that are worth checking out as well, such as Playa Conchal or Playa Ocotal. Also check out Las Bualas National Park. All are within an hour's drive. You can also consider an excursion to Arenal. It's a long but beautiful drive (about 4 hours) so if you drive there yourself you don't get a lot of time to see and do things. If you take a tour at least you can rest on the way back while the bus driver handles the driving. That'll take about 12 hours total. Not for everyone. Last, how about a catamaran cruise right from Flamingo Marina? That is fun too. Enjoy!
