I took the Palo Verde Tour today offered by this company and cannot recommend it more highly! Alex was the tour guide for today and one could not ask for a more knowledgeable, hardworking and friendly guide! He picked my up at my Air bnb in Ocotal, and the rest of the group in Coco, and we were off on an adventure.
Alex took us off the main busy highway and onto the backroads to see sugar cane and cantaloupe farms, visit a Central Park in a nearby town, before arriving to a National Park where we boarded a river boat for a tour down the Tempisque River. After that, we went to a small Soda in the countryside for a delicious authentic Costa Rican lunch (Casado), before returning to our starting point.
Alex is clearly passionate about wildlife and native flora also. He stopped along the way to point out many things we would not have otherwise noticed.
On the riverboat, we say many different types of native birds, and also crocodiles and white faces (Capuchin) monkeys. It is an experience that I will never forget. I definitely recommend that you take this tour!
Water and lunch are included in the tour. It is not rushed, and there is not any strenuous activity involve save getting in and out of the boat (ie not strenuous at all). Alex’s English is very good and his native language is Spanish, so there will not be difficulty communicating.

It’s the off season in Costa Rica but for us it’s summer time! Wanted to charter a half day fishing trip for 4 and since we were recommended these guys, were able to charter the next day by phone. Great price. We wanted to catch fish to eat, big game fish… we wanted it all and we’re not disappointed. Caught tuna, wahoo, saw huge turtles and then…… two family pods of humpback whales and a mating dance between three consenting adults whales!! A once in a lifetime experience.

First time ocean fishing, Juan Carlo had everything arranged. Boat pick up at the beach, right on time! Captain Lester and First Mate were excellent, very good fishermen!! Great day, we saw sea turtles, dolphins followed our boat for a while and devil rays were jumping out of the ocean several times. When we got to the fishing area the yellow fin started hitting, total fun! Adrienne had a 50lb mahi on the line, four spectacular jumps till it spit the hook, we’ll be back for that one! Great day, money well spent, thank you, we’ll be back!

Went with my sister and mom to Costa Rica, amazing experience! We are all 25+, there’s no family option. We met Carlos in Coco Beach, great little beach. We talked to him about visiting blue river, with the turquoise waters. We showed him a pictures of the place, we wanted to go to. He then said okay I understand, mom wants a massage and hot springs, my sister wants the animal walks, and zipline and I wanted the waterfall, and beautiful view.
The nexus package is $120 usd, includes:
zipline,
Tarzan swing,
volcanic mud bath,
hot springs,
Turquoise blue river waterfall,
hummingbirds
butterfly garden
Dino park
Lunch
Transportation
Because my mom didn’t want zipline, Carlos said he would be able to do the same package and change the zipline to an hour massage. We went with his deal. All of the above for $400 usd for 3 people. So like $40 more total price.
During moms massage she was asked to pay an additional $20, for an hour as Carlos only booked 30 mins. He said he will try to refund us that cause they made a mistake, I will update post if he does. During zipline we were taken to the waterfall which was 10 mins away, and wanted to come back with my mom cause it was beautiful we were told after it would be an additional $10usd each. we said no problem we can just see the blue river turquoise lake, and we’re told it wasn’t included but they could try to fix it into the schedule but then we would have to cut the hot springs short.
The venue had amazing food! Zipline was the best I’ve been on! I would recommend the tour. The only thing is zipline and hot springs are available across the country. So seemed like a waste to drive 5 hours back and forth from our hotel, not to actually see blue river.
Pros:

Does not take credit.
Over promises, sets false expectations.

Juan Carlos was absolutely amazing. he was so helpful and made it so we got to see and do everything that we wanted to do all for a reasonable price. for two girls who were a little nervous on their first trip out of the US Juan Carlos was absolutely amazing. all of the tour guides and drivers he booked us were so nice and knowledgeable and we always get safe. -jessica and baby face

A Saturday morning on the water of Papagayo with Captain Jose’ and his mate, Michael did not disappoint! The catch included a black fin tuna and a wahoo but the whales were the stars of the day! We were treated to an hour of entertainment by 2 pods of humpback whales. They were within 30 ft of our boat giving us the show of a lifetime!

The perfect day fishing! Juan Carlos was excellent and professional in helping us book our trip. Our crew David, Daniel, and Adrian were the best. They were every bit as excited as we were when we caught three Rooster Fish and an enormous sail fish. What a perfect way to end a perfect vacation!

We booked our tour with Juan Carlos Delgado at Sport Fishing Blue Marlin in coco beach Costa Rica! Juan was very knowledgeable about the tours and great to deal with when booking our rio Celeste tour! Juan was also extremely helpful and essential in getting us the photos from our tour. Our tour guide Carlos from frank the tank tours took many photos which we needed sent to us from the office staff at frank the tank tours. Juan responded to my messages quickly and was able to send us the link to our pics!! Thank you Juan for the excellent job you do! Keep it up and Pura Vida!!

Thank you for recommending a private tour, it is the best option to enjoy safe and quiet with our family. The crew of Vela V is very friendly and good service. We got to see some dolphins and Rabbit Beach is very nice. we enjoyed sailing on the catamaran, by the way the delicious food

I had a wonderful trip with Sea Senor Capt Christian and his crew! The boat was clean and comfortable, all the tackle was top of the line and the communication with Sports Fishing Blue Marlin, the Crew and myself was excellent. Caught 2 beautiful Sailfish and Capt'n Christian & Alex went above and beyond in making sure I had a great time. This is a great boat and crew if you are fishing in the Playa del Coco area, Jaco or Los Suenos area.
