My wife and I have been diving with Rich Coast Diving over the last 6 months and enthusiastically give them our thumbs up. Brenda, Carrie and the staff do a tremendous job. The guides and boat crew are well trained, knowledgeable, friendly, fun, and above all safety conscious. Highly recommended.

For 3 months between December 2019 and March 2020 i completed my Divemaster internship with Rich Coast. It was an all around amazing exprience made even better by the great people i met along the way. The quality of diving instruction that you get at Rich Coast is like nothing i have experienced at any other Dive centre around the world. The majority of my training was conducted by the Course Director and Owner, who became a good friend and who's understanding and ability to teach diving is a reason to undertake a professional course here alone. However, parts of my course and the majority of my diving (85 approxiamte dives over 11 weeks) was done in the company of the amazing shop insturctors, many of whom im sure will be friends for life. The diving in Coco is incredible and over my stay i saw an abundance of amazing marine life ranging from Reef sharks, eagle rays, manta rays, turtles, humbacks whales and dolphins swimming along side the boat which made for a truely surreal exprience overall. I experienced all conditions from 16 degree water and extreme wind, to 29 degree water with conditions similar to a lake, it can change day by day but this is part of the fun. As a Divemaster in training you are expected to complete lots of shop tasks and work around and in the dive shop which i noticed was a bit of suprise perhaps to some other Interns, but it serves a purpose to give you the necessary experience in the diving industry. I could not reccomend Rich Coast enough for someone wanting to improve their skills and take the leap into the professional world of diving. Some points to mention: - Coco as a town is small, whilst it has everything you need and a number of fun bars and a lovely beach, it is certianly not a party destination equivelant to dive areas in Honduras or Thailand for example. But due to this you get a lot more out of your diving training and undoubdetedly more for your money. - Do your research on accomodation and speak in depth to the shop owner about this. I got lucky and was in a great apartment at the top of the town with 2 great guys who were instructors at the shop. But others have had to source their own accomodation especially if they were not keen on hostel living. Seperare accomodation often comes at an increased price, so do your research ! - Costa Rica is expensive no arguement. But the cost of living can be cheap once you make some changes to your habits so dont be put of by this. - You get more out of it the more you put in, throw yourself into it (includes the more menial tasks) and you will have an amazing experience at Rich Coast.

Awesome dive shop, great people to work with. Learned how to scuba dive for the first time (deep sea diver aka DSD) and ended up doing 4 dives during our stay. Instructor takes you to a pool first to learn skills before going to the ocean, once on the water the staff make sure everything is done for you and you feel safe. Loved working with Kelly, Maja, and Fiona! Would love you go back and dive with them again!! The rest of the Rich Coast team is wonderful. Definitely an experience you must try!
