Beautiful crushed shells beach, gorgeous clear water, especially at low tide. If you are in the Brasilito area, Playa Conchal is a must visit.
Unfortunately, be very careful with the vendors. They offer food , as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, however you have to be very selective with whom you buy from and what you buy. Multiple vendors offered us pina coladas, and I went with this unassuming, middle aged woman, who seemed nice. We agree on a price (EVERYTHING seems to be up for negotiations in Costa Rica) and she offered to make the pina coladas and bring them to us. She came with 2 pina coladas, poured in pineapples nicely decorated with watermelons and pineapple slices. All was good until we finished our drinks and went to dispose of the two pineapples in a nearby garbage can. I believe she was watching us because she quickly came and offered to dispose of the two pineapples for us. Somehow, a red flag went up for me and pretending I was doing something else, I watched her reuse one of the two pineapples for someone else's drink. I almost fainted, as it was clear that she had been reusing those pineapples for our drinks as well. I mean, God only knows how many people drank out of the same pineapple!!!!!! And this is during a pandemic, when the US has Costa Rica on the highest red alert for Covid19. Fortunately, we tested negative for our return to the US, but this was one big mishap for us.

Playa Conchal is not a very long beach and it's set in a curved harbor. The water is very clear and the entire beach is made of sea shells which is beautiful. There are many people on the beach who will try and sell you things, some which is nice but you can also politely decline.
The women offering massages in front of the beach are actually very nice and do a great job, especially for a good price. There was a woman there named Lady who was especially good and I recommend her.

*Nina Massage* 5 stars, incredible!
My fiancé and I loved our massages from Nina y Nina (mother/daughter). Look for them between the beach/ocean and the Westin Hotel under the trees. They are situated around other massage tents, but trust me these two are worth a visit. Our first day we saw somebody else, then they found us the second day. After that we were hooked and went back to Nina Massage every day. We’ve had many professional massages in resorts, spas, etc. They were just as good if not better, we went with a “strong” massage, and it was very firm. They also do relaxed and medium if you like less. I’d recommend bringing your towels from the hotel, as that’s what we did. But they also had their own clean linens and alcohol spray.
At the time of the review, they charge $20 / per hour per person. Which was the going market rate with all the massage tents. I also encourage tipping on top of that if you like your massage!
Don’t think twice and get one, it’s a great experience. I recommend going in the morning when it’s not hot. They start around 07:30am.

If you are in Tamarindo area and don’t visit the Conchal Beach, you are missing a day of serenity at the most beaitiful beach of that area. I wish I could add my own pictures in this review, because the picture you see is not really showcasing the beauty of it. We went again the next day. It is 20 min taxi-ride for $15 or so.

He was very helpful & kind. He helped me get in contact with the company I used for my jet ski and even though I was an hour late for my reservation, he pulled some strings and got me a jetski within the hour. If you are needing any assistance at Conchal beach, he is your guy. Made my visit to the beach a very memorable one.

Looking for a massage on the beach, well there are many offering their services. There were three of us who loved Kenya and she did a great thorough job. Kenya charges $30 for an hour massage and she'll work you according to your desires. Both of mine were deep tissue , but the second one was so intense (per my request), I almost had to tap out. She identifies tight muscles and works them out. Kenya is personable and professional. We strongly recommend her and she'll also offer a 1.5 hr. massage. She is just outside the exit from the Westin pool area. Thank you Kenya... Pura Vida! Gregorio

Ask for Kelly and Sarah on the beach! I had a massage with two different people but Kelly was the best. My family member had Sarah twice and loved her both times. You may feel pushed away because the massage ladies harass you, but I promise the massage is not something to skip out on! $20 for one hour is a great rate, and quite frankly one of the best massages I’ve ever had. Thank you Kelly and Sarah!

A previous reviewer said this beach is not very long but we walked the full length of it several times in the last week and I must disagree. I stopped to read in the shade about 2/3 of the way once while my wife continued on and it was far enough that I could not distinguish her on the beach after a while. The water is calmer than other nearby beaches and it is a lovely blue green colour. Yes there are hawkers at the north end nearer the Westin but they are polite and not obnoxious. It must be noted that if you are a guest at that resort you are not paying $500 a night for this beach. It is not the Westin's or W's. The beaches are public. After those resorts there are no hawkers nor many tourists and the beach is quieter. If you arrive before 0930 or 1000 you almost have the south end to yourself.

We were staying at the Westin nearby.. The beach is beautiful and we enjoyed spending time. The water can sometimes be rough with an undertow so be careful with small kids and anyone that doesn't usually swim in the ocean. Easier swimming for little kids down the beach, to the right, near the rocks. There are some vendors nearby that were friendly and not pushy...We booked a monkey and crocodile river trip with Erik Garcia (in the blue shirt with his name on it) based on a Trip Advisor review, and we had a blast and I recommend it!! Pretty sunset views.

Hello amigo. We can help you with pleasure. Please contact Conchalfun.

we will be staying there 2 weeks. Where can we buy food to cook ourselves. Are there any markets there? Where is the nearest market? Will the shuttle take you to town? Tanarindo?

There are supermarkets in Brasalito (10 minutes), Tamarrindo (30 minutes) and right down the street from the Reserve Conchal, ask at the check in they are very helpful. I've never stayed in these Condos, but there is a shuttle service you could most likely use at the Westin, for Tamarrindo.

I will be driving to Playa Conchal from Coco Beach, for a day trip. Is beach access and parking difficult to find. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

You’ll need to park at Playa Brasilito (one beach down from Conchal) - there’s parking restaurants and shops there- you’ll then need to traverse Playa Brasilito to get to Playa Conchal - 2 very different beaches. If you’re there in high season plan to get there early, it’s one of the more crowded beaches.

I don't know if this is the very cheapest, but we have been using Rainer Lopez and Pininos Adventures for many years for transportation and to arrange tours and activities. Not only do they provide reliable and reasonable rates, but can provide a wealth of information and great recommendations.
