Far from other amenities in the town area, but getting away from the crowds to spend some time on a quiet beach was exactly what I was looking for.

Gorgeous black sand beach! Father Roosters is a perfect bar and restaurant that can accommodate allergies! Perfect snorkelling right off the beach. Rent a gold cart and you are 10 min from busy playa del coco!

The day we went the waters were quite rough due to the winds but the beach was still very beautiful. We went up into the hills and took some beautiful pictures of the ocean. Not as busy as El Coco beach.

It's definitely worth a visit--nice mix of locals and gringos. Black sand is unusual and quite beautiful but hot on your feet. Nice beach to explore shallow rocky tidal pools. Some snorkelling but close to rocky areas so you have to be careful. Limited parking...More
