An incredible rest
Jul 2019
We went on a trip with some friends from the church to do a training but we were able to spend a few days on these incredible beaches. A safe place, where we are amazed to leave our things without anyone touching them. You can also walk through the beach and you will never see something similar.

If you really want to rest, it is the best place!

Lovely Beach but the leaf blower noise spoiled the peace
Mar 2019 • Friends
I got up early to come to the beach for a quiet walk before the crowds arrived. It was beautiful but the noisy leaf blower spoiled everything. Leaf blowers seem really out of keeping with the way things are run here.

Absolutely stunning beach
Feb 2019 • Friends
Off the beaten path and a little hard to find but well worth the effort. Follow the path from the car park down to the beach and keep walking to the left. You will come to rocks with a rope to help you climb (only about 5 feet) and on the other side is a white sand beach that is stunning! Lots of sun and shade with tables and trees to hang a hammock if you bring one. We brought a cooler with snacks and drinks and it was one of our favourite places. Very quiet, and very remote. A few others on the beach but not at all busy. There is a life guard on duty. We seen tons of monkeys!

Off the beaten track

Playa Blanca is an adventure to get to. The roads are tough so make sure you have a reliable car! There is a small parking lot and an attendant when we visited. We were told to be sure to take everything of value with you. There is a hike down some stairs and a path to get to the beach. The sand is very soft and hot so it is a workout to trek to a spot! There are several trees to provide a little shade as it was hot on our visit. We did some snorkeling and the currents were tough so you need to be a strong swimmer. The view is breathtaking and only a handful of people around.

Best beach!
Apr 2018 • Couples
Playa Blanca and its sister beach were recommended by our concierge. We drove about 45 minutes and found the turnoff--a hidden gem! Quite a community tucked away and secure parking was about $5. The first beach is pretty, a little rocky, and very calm--excellent for travelers with little ones. You can access Playa Blanca by crossing a small divide--rocks can be slippery, especially as tide changes, so be careful. Lovely white sand beach, with nice waves for wave surfing, macaws flying overhead and hanging out in the trees, green parrots as well! Great place to lounge away an afternoon, but bring a picnic/drinks, as you cannot purchase either at the resorts located on both beaches.

Feb 2017 • Couples
this is a nice small beach. when we went, we were alone so that was great. the water was nice and the sand was great as well. the waves were not that bad so it was easy to go in the water. it was really peaceful! Great beach to relax and not have tons of people. Nice seashell as well.

Playa Blanca, GUANACASTE!
Feb 2017 • Couples
Just so you know ... Playa Blanca in Guanacaste is not the similarly named beach in other parts of the country.

This beach is between Playa Junquillal and Playa Negra in Guanacaste on the Nicoya Peninsula, facing west to the Pacific. It is an amazing stretch of sand with very few people and a serious tide that leaves huge pools among the rocks in the morning, followed by waves that eat up half the sand by late afternoon.

No facilities on the beach, so bring your own fluids! Park your car and give Santos 1K colones to look after it for you.

If your staying in the area, the beach is also accessible at low tide by walking from Playa Junquillal to the south or Playa Negra to the north.

Was our #1 destination in Junquillal!

Incredible beach
Aug 2016
This is one of the most amazing beaches we have ever visited. Lovely sand, plenty of trees for shade, free loungers (if you're early); picnic and BBQ spots, warm clear water, rocks pools at low tide for the kids. Just lovely. Access tricky as it is private, but if you can wangle it, certainly worthwhile!
