It was a rainy, cloudy day. The hosts of our hotel advised us that it would be a waste of time to go up to the volcano due to no visibility of the crater. We ventured anyways as we did not have an extensive itinerary. It costs $10 per person to enter the park and an additional $3 to park.... More

Interesting vista of the active volcano and lovely walk to the lake. Cool and clean air at altitude and a picturesque drive to get there make it a must see

beautiful place. Don't forget to check out the lagoon. Even though we went on a cloudy day it still was cool to see. The plants all around are beautiful

When there were coulds at Chamonix they told me before I paid, and let me make an informed choice. Don't expect the same at Poas. They will charge you even if there are coulds, and they know that there are clouds and you will see nothing at all. This is wrong, in my humble opinion, as there is not much... More

Costa Rica have a lot of great volcanoes to visit, but one of the most visiting is the Poas Volcano. Maybe because is not far away from San Jose (1 hour) and you can get there by car or bus.It has a big crater, one of the largest in the world, and I think no matter if you get there... More

The place it's amazing the view its incredible, but if you get there and it is too cloudy, you will just have a cold walk and no sight seeing. Get a sweater and an unbrella remember that Costa Rica has two seasons, rainy and rainier.

One of my favorite places on our visit to Costa Rica. We had a wonderful clear day and were able to view the volcano crater in detail. The hike was definitely worth it but can be challenging, just take your time and enjoy the trail and outstanding view.

Poas national park is beautiful. The hikes were easy enough but still made us feel like we got some exercise in. The caretaker at the B&B we were staying at urged us to go early, as the fog rolls in around 10:30 each morning and makes it impossible to see the crater (or much else). We arrived around 9am and...
