Yes we did it! It is very difficult to see the volcano crater as clear as we saw it! Great experience for our friends visiting from USA and Mexico

The drive there is totally fine, there's a few bumpy areas in the city Alajuela on the way, but the drive up the hill is perfectly fine - for those who are a bit concerned - even in rainy/off season when we went. $15 per...More

Great place to get a birds eye view of one of Costa Rica's many volcano. Great hiking areas and just a all-round great place to visit. Highly recommended place to visit while in Costa Rica! A+

After picking up our rental car early on a Sunday morning we headed north to the Poas Volcano National Park. The drive was short appx 1.5 hours and the roads were good. In some spots they were a bit windy but still good. We arrived...More

This is a beautiful volcano. The color of the "water" or whatever it has in its crater is hypnotic, a marvelous light turquoise. You have to know it's rare if you get to see the crater, most of the time is cloudy. like 80% of...More

When we first arrived a tour bus in front of us turned around because they thought there would be too many clouds around to even get to see the opening. We decided to go in anyway and we were glad we did. There were times...More

Hi, you don’t need a 4wd as the road is completely paved. You need to call the park to check if they are open.
