Absolutely one of the highlights of our trip to CR. So much more than chocolate and coffee. This is a diverse and beautifil family farm. We are still talking about the amazing fruits we got to taste. Maurizio is incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. We learned so much it made the rest of our trip better. Highly recommend!!

What a FUN day! I went into this activity with high expectations, because of all the amazing reviews I had read ahead of time. Don Olivo and family did not disappoint! This tour was one of the highlights of our trip. Yes, the chocolate was amazing (though be warned, it's very dark & strong!) Yes, the coffee and hot chocolate were amazing! Yes, the fresh fruit served along the way was delicious! But, more than any of that, it was the people in Don Olivo's family that made this tour so magical. The entire family works together to lead these hands-on experiences each and every day. When you're there in their presence, you feel honored to be a part of it all. It's clear that the family gets great joy out of sharing their talents and passion with visitors from all over the world. They have perfected the art of making visitors feel welcome. Throughout the visit, they shared jokes, fresh fruit, drinks, and lots of interesting facts. They also invited all of us to join in the process of preparing the chocolate...from pressing the sugarcane to grinding the beans, etc. We traveled with our children, ages 8 and 10, and they both had an absolutely blast. They enjoyed running around the farm, participating in all of the hands-on activities, and taste testing everything along the way. During our visit, we were lucky to have Josue as our guide. He was amazing! I still can't believe he was still a student in high school. He was so confident, funny, and kind to our children. Our son is completely blind, and Josue made sure to involve him throughout the entire tour by allowing him to touch, smell, taste, and ask questions along the way. It was very touching to see how Josue and his family welcomed our son onto their farm. This is definitely worth your time! p.s. Be sure to wear shoes that can get muddy :)

My fiancé and I booked this tour kinda last minute and we are so glad we did. I’ll save you some time, stop reading reviews and trust me on this. Do this tour. Aside from loads of fruit and chocolate tasting, the tour guide is one of the best guides I’ve had. The grandson of the founder of the farm, he has so much energy and passion. And he was great with the kids! You certainly get your money’s worth with this tour!

We took the Don Olivo Chocolate tour after reading reviews here. It was definitely one of the highlights of our trip as well. In the first part of the tour, we walked through the family-run farm learning about all the different plants and sampling as much as we possibly could. We got to grind and drink the juice from sugar cane which was definitely a new experience for our kids. Then we got to see the cacao plants and suck the membrane off the beans that are eventually turned into chocolate. We saw their little greenhouse-like building where they dry their cacao and coffee beans. From there we headed to a pavilion where we got to crush and then grind dried beans. We sat down and were served hot chocolate and the freshest, purest coffee ever, along with pieces of their homemade chocolate. The tour was perfect for both our kids, ages 7 and 2, and for anyone who likes chocolate!
