I'm not an expert but I would expect morning to be the best time to see wildlife and possibly avoid rain. We went in the afternoon without a guide, and we didn't see many animals but had a great time anyway. It's such a beautiful place that if you go in with the right expectations and a rain coat, you won't be disappointed (regardless of weather or time of day).
