One of our top swimming locations whilst in Costa Rica (La Fortuna Waterfall itself was the best). Great fun to hang out with the locals and jump/dive/swing into the crystal clear waters. There are a few parking spots near the bridge over the road and...More

A place kinda off the beaten track. I saw this place on the internet prior to our trip and said to myself “I need to go here”. We asked a cab driver in La Fortuna and he took us here and picked us up an...More

An absolute blast for free! All things considered, this is pretty safe as long as you can swim. Just don't slip on the rocks. In terms of security, there weren't many people lurking around or anything. As long as you can see your stuff you'll...More

Easy to find just outside of the main downtown area, about 2 miles from the church in the town center. Park on either side of the bridge and walk down. Rope swing is fun and appeared quite safe (did it a few times). Water is...More

We did the ziplining at Arenal Mundo which is a minute walk from this little waterfall/swimming hole. So we could leave our car there and felt safe. Otherwise I would say take a taxi maybe from La Fortuna so you don't leave your car at...More

We showed up with a big group and had an absolute blast. I was worried that the locals might see us as nuances, but they were all super friendly. We liked it so much, we went back another day. Great adrenaline burn for the teens...More

Great (free!) spot to go swimming, frequented by locals (who do some pretty insane backflips into the river). Rope swing was really fun, though we were a bit scared until we saw someone else do it. Be safe / don't try anything stupid!

Definitely visit this little pool for an afternoon if you have time! The rope swing is so much fun, whilst also being safe! There is no current so good for most swimming abilities! The locals we met there were friendly and offered us some of...More

We've been to el Salto when traveling throug costa Rica. It's an idylic spot in the rivier where mainly locals go to swim. The lower part is fine, but watch out when you're on top of the falls, the current is way stronger and more...More
