Just go ... no, seriously, just book and go, it's amazing! I'm a tree frog freak, I mean I even have a tree frog tattoo ...simply exquisite setting, sublime plants, humongous coral snakes, bullet ants the size of your thumb and froggies galore! One of the best experiences of sharing local knowledge of the wildlife I've had :))

If you're a wildlife lover and especially a bird watcher, this place will enchant you. The ecolodges are set amongst a thick lush garden, a jungle even... At night, except for the path illuminated by soft "mushroom lights", it's pitch black. All you can hear is the wind shaking the trees and the rain dropping on the roof of your cabana. We had the lodge number 6 which seems to be the darkest one, the only downside of our stay. Otherwise, the bed was comfortable and the ceiling fan gave us enough freshness for the night. After all, you're only here for sleeping. The rest of the time you will be exploring the national park of dipping in the nearby hot springs... At breakfast, all sorts of colourful birds and other squirrels are feasting on the fruits displayed around the restaurant. Don't forget your camera! The staff is excellent, friendly and efficient. Before sunset, you can walk to the town, it will take around 30 minutes but best to pick up a taxi back.

We were there on Friday night, before the Corona shut down. We were the only guests. We had a fabulous place. Our hot springs closed, so we had dinner there. Very tasty. During breakfast, a cassock and her baby came by. We got in late and had to leave early, so we didn't get to walk trails. When this blows over, I would like to come back.

Our stay at Arenal Oasis was one of the highlights of our whole trip to Costa Rica. It's a bit out of La Fortuna and not really close enough to walk into town, but the setting is great if you want a jungle experience as you're surrounded by it. The cabins are spread out and private, and ours was very spacious and clean and the bed was comfortable. I was a bit worried that it might be too isolated as we didn't have a car but it was fine and there was lots to keep us occupied for the whole three days we were there. Would highly recommend the early morning bird watching and the night frog watching tours that they do on their reserve. The guides were very professional and they helped us to find lots of wildlife and get some amazing close up photos. One day we did the Rio Celeste hike which was an amazing place as well. We also enjoyed watching the birds at the feeders by the restaurant and spotting hummingbirds in the garden which they have planted with flowers to attract them. From here you also get a good view of the volcano, though the top of it was always covered by cloud!

Did not stay in the cabins, but wish we had known about them when booking our trip. Walked the jungle trail a few times on different days and saw several varieties of birds. The restaurant was a pleasant surprise and we had a breakfast and a dinner. Excellent food and very friendly service with reasonable prices. Dinner for two came to about $22 US.
