A wonderful rainforest experience, with a very professional guide. Experiencing 4 long hanging bridges across a 4 KM trail, we got to see a number of different creatures (it was raining so it wasn’t a time to see a lot) but our guide kept this...More

We drove ourselves to hanging bridges and booked a guide on the spot. She spotted an amazing number of creatures - hummingbirds, owls, woodpeckers, snakes, tarantulas, frogs and a sloth, We also got some great pictures through her scope. Takes about 2.5 hours to do...More

Suggest La Fortunate area and Arsenal volcano - much to do in the area - volcano hiking tour, zip lining, white water rafting, 6 Bridge tour/hike. Most stay 2-3 days. Could also do 1-2 days along Pacific Coast - Jacko or... More

Hi Sheryl, I recommend you to fly in the route back to La Fortuna, when the tour to Tortuguero starts you will experiment the same boat ride.

Arenal Volcano Hike - AM or PM (6 Replies)
We are going to be going on Ecoterra's Arenal Hike/Ectoermales Hot Springs and dinner package. We have the option of an 8 am - 4:30 pm slot, or a 2:30 - 9:30 time. Any advice on which would be preferable and why would be much appreciated.

tough, IMO I prefer hiking in the morning for weather and wildlife viewing, and prefer the springs t night when it is nice and cool out. Tough call, you will need to decide what your priorities are and go from there.
