We booked with Costa Rica Decents instead of a celebrating a birthday party.
My wife and I have taken many tours around the world, however this tour, was one of the most exciting experiences that we can remember.
It began with an on time pickup at 2pm.
Most rafting tours only offer a mornings session.
We needed an afternoon tour, to make best use of our 1 day in Fortuna.
Introducing the three man team:
Jose was a superb driver of sound character and knowledge of wildlife and tourism. Jose shows up in a LandRover, and takes us to the River.
Jimmy accompanied us as a photographer to capture our tour with video recordings and photos.
He kept things fun and lead the way in a kayak.
Gian-Carlos was our rafting guide. From his first words, I knew that he was an expert in nearly everything.
We learned about safety in a raft.
We learned how to manoeuvre and how to ride in style.
These 3 guys were our tourism champions.
As I said these guys were terrific at nearly everything.
This experience was a lot more than taking a tour, we became part of an experience that will be remembered for many birthdays to come.
What sets these guys apart from others is, that the tour was reasonably priced, the experience was impeccable, and these guys went above and beyond any guides that I’ve ever experienced in my travels.
These young gentlemen made our day extremely memorable, by offering a hot shower after the tour, the made us home brewed coffee, in true Costa Rican style, and lastly, after the tour, they stopped at a local bakery to purchase my wife a whole birthday cake.
In my opinion, these tour guide professionals did everything well, and we had a great laugh as they sang Happy Birthday in English and in Spanish.
Overall, they started off as guides, and we have ended up as friends.
If you are visiting La Fortuna, this tour group Costa Rica Decents is our personal choice.
