Previous Reservation is required. Proyecto Asis is a Wildlife Shelter and Environmental Education Center located very close to La Fortuna. Wild animals which have been found wounded, forsaken or are rescued from the black market by the local forest rangers are brought here. Those that cannot be released are used within our educational programs. In order to finance our shelter, we offer daily tours and volunteer activities. Schedules: Monday to Saturday at 8:30 am or at 1:00 pm. Sundays Closed. Easy access facilities and trails for all ages.

I absolutely loved going to Proyecto Asis. This is a must see when you come to Costa Rica. The love for animals and their country is amazing. Our travel guide Carlos was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I will definitely come back again.

Amazing rescue center that let's you interact with the animals while educating you in the local wildlife. Our guide Carlos was excellent and made the experience fun. I encourage all animal lovers to go.

Hi Jazzhound, We usually recommend to leave that area 1 hour in advance. The cost from there (round trip) usually costs about $80 to $85 (not charged per person, but the trip). Bookings are required to visit.
